  1. You're pretty good at sidestepping arguments...
  2. I was taking issue with this statement. Had nothing to do 911.
  3. Your A/F ratios look pretty damn good to me. The A/F ratio drops to 10 because the velocity of the air goes to really low when you open the throttle plates, and at the same time the accelerator pumps dump a big pee stream of fuel into the cylinders that doesn't atomize and burn very well. This is what I was trying to explain in your last thread about the off idle stumble. When you don't have any velocity in the intake and you just slap the throttle plates open it's going to stumble because the engine looses most of its vacuum on the intake side until the engine speeds up and the velocity increases. I think you'll find that it runs stronger and pulls through that part of the rpm range better at 10:1 than it will with smaller pump nozzles. Again, this is where smaller chokes would benefit you (at the expense of top end). As far as chokes go, did you take them out? 44mm chokes would be... invisible...
  4. That's not the argument we were having.
  5. It doesn't matter what I dould do, but I'm a libertarian and I don't care what people do as long as it doesn't affect my life. What does matter is that you're talking about a group of people (fundamentalist Muslims) who are taught that we are the most evil people on the planet, that we are trying to corrupt their virtuous way of life, and who's holy book says that they need to destroy our culture, and that if they do not destroy us, we will destroy them. It seems like you don't want to deal with the reality of extremist Islam or wahhabism or whatever you want to call it.
  6. This idea has already been stated before in this post, but I'll throw it out in a slightly different way... Even if this head yields a very siginificant increase in NA power, say it gets a 50 hp increase, and bumps a NA L engine like mine from 240hp to 290, I still wouldn't be able to race anywhere with this head in a "normal" Z class for autox or road racing. The class that a Z would be relegated to would be the same class that V8's or 2JZ's or RB's or Buick 6's would be in. So basically this is a $5k exercise in keeping the same block that the car came with and getting some power gain. In and of itself there is nothing wrong with that, but still it falls well short of the possibilities of even a very mildly build V8, and will probably weigh more when it is done. It's very cool, very expensive in pure $$$ for hp terms, and kind of pointless except to the purist who doesn't mind the bastardized head.
  7. If my neighbors were the most crude, vile, and rich people I had ever seen, and they tried to convince me and my family and my children to turn to their vile, sinful, evil lifestyle I might get a little pissed, yeah. The only example I can think of is if I had a heroin addicted NAMBLA member living next door and he was constantly trying to seduce my children to his way of life. Yeah, that would probably piss me off pretty good. To fundamentalist Muslims we are that heroin addicted NAMBLA member.
  8. As to what to use, how about shim stock? Or buy them from ISKY or whoever has them these days. Machinists can order them for you, they aren't hard to find. More important question is WHY you would do this? The longer valve stem doesn't do you any good unless you're going to shave the head to boost the compression. The common setup is to shave .080, then use the N42 valves because they are .080 longer, and shim the cam towers up. The shims return the cam towers to the right height with relation to the timing chain, and the longer valves put the rockers in the right location with relation to the cam and lifters. Your original post seemed like you were trying to get the biggest valves into the head that you could. The P90 valve is the biggest Nissan put in, and it has the same size head as the N42, so there is no advantage to swapping out one for the other in terms of flow capacity.
  9. [newbie]Where can I get that widebody kit? Do you think it can be adapted to a Z???[/newbie]
  10. My new 5.3 gets ~18 unloaded. I was thinking of trying a different cam and bigger exhaust for better mileage. On my Toyota 4 banger I got about 25, then I installed a high lift low duration cam and a header and 2.25" exhaust and I got over 32mpg. I don't know exactly what effect this type of mod would have on the 5.3, but I expect I could get it into the low 20's at least.
  11. Terry used a shorter endlink and modified a Honda bar to work. He basically just made everything fit under the CV joint. I've seen sway bars that don't connect to the middle of the control arm, but they weren't sheet metal control arms like our Datsuns have. It'd be interesting to hear if anyone has tried this and if the loads from the sway bars were ok for the control arm. http://www.fototime.com/ftweb/bin/ft.dll/detailfs?userid={7DC317B0-8EDB-4B2E-A837-F708D07C9769}&ndx=36&slideshow=0&AlbumId={17E71651-3EF8-4704-9954-22956DF10FCB}&GroupId={3B8751D4-D564-4405-8017-F14E1CDA9AF0}&screenheight=768
  12. For the same reason that Americans can't be forced to apply sharia law by Iran. Now if you're in Iran, different story...
