  1. Hey t-bone028 where did you match up the 2 ends on the weatherstripping when you installed it on your door? I plan on ordering the same tomorrow but just want to know how to install it the best. Was it able to make the 90 degree angle a then meet in the middle of the bottom of the door?
  2. Well I will have to let everyone know when or if I find out. This all depends on ofthe car has them or not when I go on Saturday .
  3. Alright thanks! Thats why i was wondering because i know most 76-78 have the same parts but the 75 isn't much different so ill see what happens if the car still has them.
  4. I was just wondering if the 77 carpet hold down plates (scuff plates) will work on a 75. A guy emailed me and told me that there is a 77 in the local junkyard and all I really need is scuff plates but i'm not sure if they fit the 75 or not. I THINK they do but I just wanted to confirm before I go out there.
  5. That seems to be a popular problem with a lot of us z guys is having the space for another car. haha I have noticed that the sf/bay area has been a hot spot for free stuff. I just scored a free 5 speed transmission and "limited slip" diff. Now whether or not it is actually a 5 speed or limited slip, I wont know until tomorrow when i go pick the stuff up. Even if its just a regular diff and a 4 speed I can sell em to someone here on hbz for a MINIMAL price (granted if there is a buyer out there) and still make a profit. Nice find though, I wish I had the space for it as well.
  6. I like the overall body work on the car. I'm mixed about the tail lights and do not like the badging. I love the look of it though and it must Be pretty quick with that powerplant. I doubt I'd likethe interrier though because I love the old z interrior. Either way this car has a lot of time and money into it and I can respect that, even if I don agree with all of the modifications.
  7. haha....well what ever is the most rare v6 out there, i'm sure thats the one he has swapped. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. lol
  8. LOL......not sure that some of the people that own our Z's actually deserve to own one......."this is a very rare and fast V6" http://modesto.craigslist.org/cto/1590763341.html If this guys car is rare, then my 75 must be SUPER rare. Any of u guys that own one even older must be sitting on gold mines apparently! Just thought i'd share, seems that a lot of these kind of finds are showing up nowadays.
  9. Yeah she knew what the car meant to me when getting into the relationship. I do keep the time balanced though. Especially now that funds are running a little low and cant afford parts. lol. She supports my z passion though and has talked me outta selling the car many times when my frustration level reaches its boiling point. hasn't gotten down and dirty tearing things apart with me yet but she hangs out and seems generally interested in what's going on, so nothing to complain about there. But balance IS key. Not only for your relationships but for OUR state of minds also. Working on these cars so much can make even the best of us a little crazy no matter how much it can be an escape from daily problems at other times.
  10. My girl actually supports my project! Anytime we are out and she spots a z and I haven't said anything, she brings it to my attention. We will see how much longer this lasts once I start dumpin some larger amounts of money into the car though. The tide may change when that happens. Lol. I doubt it though. She's actually pretty good about it. She knows that the z was here before her and could very well be here longer than her!
  11. when i read the write up, I believe it said to use 70's and 100 but in my car Ive been using all 50 amps and I haven't had any problems. Then again my car is a 75 and the write up was for a 77 I believe.
  12. I saw it finally last night. I loved the movie! The only problem I had was the length of the movie. I cant sit that long very easily because i have a bad back. BUt other than that i thought it was a great movie. I called what was going to happen a quarter of the way into it though. Even though I knew what was going to happen, the movie still kept me immersed just in the whole world its self. Thinking about it, theres not really any way that hey could have shortened the movie without leaving anything out, so thats fine with me. Can anyone see an avatar part 2 in the works? I think its plausible.
  13. When you upgraded the altenator, did you do that maxifuse upgrade? Because, like i said , thats what I did and it fixed any charging issue I had without having to upgrade the alt. Im afraid that if you didn't upgrade to the maxifuse when you put in the alt. your work will be nullified because the fusible links will still only let as much power through as they did before with the old alt. Just my .02
  14. I've never encountered this problem. Maybe the latch on the door isn't closig all the way after it latches to the striker?. In that case I'd say try oiling the locking latch on your door and see if that helps at all. The only thing I can think thts happening is that when the door hits the striker, there's dirt or grease or something addin resistance to the lock when it tries to return to the latched position.
  15. Can't go wrong with that plan I suppose. Let us know if that ends up fixing your issue. I know all hybrid owners are troubled by these pesky electrical issues in one form or another. Lol
  16. I'm sure I have but as far as what you are talkng about, no. The idle surge could be there becase your battery is going down the tubes from lack of recharge from the alt because of the fusible links. This happened to me. I bought a brand new battery and it fixed my problem for a few months but after that much time of it not being recharged properly, it was just too much and the battery Gave in. When it would et low the idle would surge and act like it was missing or te timing was off, then it would die completely and I'd have to recharge the battery with a seperate home charger. Like I said, i could be WAY off base here, but it's always good to try and get rid of those fusible links anyways, IMO.
  17. Im not really sure what you're talking about with clicking noises and what not. But an issue with our z's, especially for the charging system, is the fusible links. If they are bad, it would make it seem a lot like the altenator is bad. It happened to my 75. I had the battery replaced and was about to upgrade the alt eventhough it was brand new, but i found a thread about the fusible links and replacing them with maxifuse units. So thats what i did and it fixed all my problems. I'm not sure if that all any help with your problem but maybe its worth a shot at checking out?
  18. i had this problem on my Z. I had never owned a stick before and one day i went to drive it and I noticed the clutch had no feel to it and the car wouldn't go into gear unless I absolutely FORCED it to (which most of the time i couldn't even do that!). Turns out, I had no fluid in my clutch master cylinder because the clutch slave cylinder was leaking the fluid past the seal. Hopefully its the same issue for you. Im assuming it shouldnt be too hard of a fix; but then again, I dont know much about saturns.
  19. Oohh ok. I knew about the law about 75 and older cars being smog exempt, but i thought that 25 years or older cars had different rules for being imported or something.
  20. I'm uneducated when it comes to importing. What's the 25 year rule? not trying to thread jack or anything. I'm just curious about this as a fellow californian.
  21. I'm not too great with this efi either but i SORTA had the same problem and it ended up being a bad connection with the tps. So i would check the AFM or the TPS. Not familiar with your year but maybe its worth a shot?
  22. I'm one! Although I JUST started DD'ing mine. haha Ive had it since may and finally working out the little kinks that enables these cars to be driven reliably. Maybe ill see you around TEMPERED, if I haven't already. You'll recognize me by my semi-primered, bumperless, white hooded 75 280z. lol
  23. Im glad I could help! The car is so nice that I wish I was looking for one at the time so I could have found it and bought it. haha. But then again since I live here in california, I want to stay with a smog exempt Z anyways so this one wouldnt have been on my radar. It is by far the smoothest running, and most complete Z i have had the privilege of scoping out. I too plan to go the rota rb/zg flare build for my 75 so I/m excited to see how yours turns out. If this is going to be your build thread, Im definately subscribing! Good luck with your build sparks280zt
  24. I used to be in your situation. I knew how to drive stick but wasnt sure how it worked. So one day I went to drive my Z and i cant get it in gear. COme to find out that the clutch had lost all fluid and adding more fluid fixed the problem temporarily. Later found out that my slave cylinder is leaking. So Im just replacing both the master cylinder and slave cylinder and that will fix the problem (for me anyways, and Im guessing it will for you as well). I know this was stated by an above poster already so im not trying to sound "smarter" than anyone, just wanted to let you know that your not the only one out there thats in your situation on not knowing what to look at or fix. Luckily I had a friend over to tell me what was wrong before I posted something on hybrid about it and got yelled at by the search nazis. lol Btw my clutch slave and master cylinder came to a total price of like 42 buck on ebay to replace for brand new replacements. I have a 75 with the stock 4 speed
  25. hey flatblack280 thanks for trying but i figured it out with the help of my buddy. I THINK i have it wired right. but if not ill come back here. For anyone that has a 75 thats wanting to do this though ill tell you what i did. I basically followed the instructions as stated in the atlanticz write up except it only involved 4 wires (2 red/white and 2 solid white wires.) I hooked the wires up as the guy told us in that write up and ran the power cable to the positive of the starter cable. (keep in mind i found a power distributor or whatever its called at my local audio shop since kragens/autozone doesnt carry them) I disregarded anything about using another set of fusible links and just mounted mine as is and my car actually runs smoother and idles better. ill make a better write up with pictures later when i can take pictures of it.
