  1. injectors that will bolt in are bosch 280 150 036-used on mercedes benz 4.5 v8 or also used on mercury 2.5l high perf outboard motors.be really carefull buying other peoples projects-usually not worth the trouble after fixing thier okie rigged f&^% ups.
  2. local muffler shop-they use these for cat monitor o2 if they replace pipe behind cat on obd2 cars.
  3. problems were with 81zxt -not na.zxt and na have 2 different computor systems.if you want to get a na motor running on ms just use the stock ign system and get a tach signal for the ms from it.but if you put a turbo on later with na ign you will have to find a way to make ign timing retard under boost.study system theory-and learn about ign timing curves.
  4. if you know the theory about the way the parts you choose work you can do anything.i triggered my ms with a cherry hall effect sensor and magnets on the flywheel.but i still have a distibutor so you got me beat.
  5. doesnt the msd box have a jack in the side with a 1/4 male spade do hook the tach wire to?
  6. if you want a good deal find a infinty dealer with a 6 speed g35.he will probably deal on it more than an auto.i think the g35 looks a lot nicer than 350z.but i dislike the look of 4 door g35.
  7. i have ms running on my z with l28 but i work as a ford tech.you can screw gm sensors into ford manifold.if you are running 302 in a z with ms best to build all new harness with rs autosport kit.i used 1 and i liked it.i put magnets in my flywheel and triggered it with a hall effect sensor.iii wanted %100 new parts on my install and no old junkyard stuff.best place to learn is to read alot of posts on msefi.com.even though i have a 2 year college degree in electronics,ase master auto tech certification i still learned a lot on this install.
  8. as a dealer tech at a ford dealer i have only seen warrenty claims denied for obvious stupidity.like a motor in a lincoln ls that had 28000 miles on it with NO oil changes.it still had grey painted oil filter on it.and a ton of sludge.or transmissions in diesel pickups with propane injection.so if you blow a trans at the drag strip and forget to clean out the rubber in the front fenders you deserve to pay for your damage.if you hydro-lock your motor with a cold air intake in the rain and forget to put the oem filter system back on your stupid.
  9. i use redline mtl-no problems.run a 82 na trans behind turbo l28 -i like the way it shifts.
  10. what year 5 speed is it?most die because speedo gear leaks oil and causes trans to run low on gear oil.if trans is quiet in 4th you have worn counter shaft bearings.i can work on datsun trans if you want to bring it out to modesto.i have a box of used trans parts -and nissan still sells parts.if you know a trans well a test drive before tear down will have you knowing what to look for.
  11. use a standard l28 valve cover-somebody might want to buy a turbo cover.

  13. get a starter button and check for no spark with the coil wire-its back to basics.when you get the coil to throw sparks then figure out if they are on time or not.since i fired mine with a hall effect sensor and magnets on the flywheel i skipped the chapter on 82/83 zxt dizzy.my goal on install was to avoid old nissan parts.
  14. on my 77 i found a connector that had a voltage drop across it.if you put a good 12v source to the blower motor it will speed up some.gm uses relays on high speed blower setting to get 12v to blower motor.but more would be better.but if your new set-up isnt getting a good 12v supply you are wasting time.

  16. the bottem half of the thermostat housing has a spot you can drill and tap for 3/8 pipe thread.that was on my 81zxt motor.the 83 zxt motor had a plug you could remove and install gm coolant sensor.pipe taps are easy to get -try osh or lowes.use thread cutting oil on the tap.since i am computor challenged i chose not to try to use easytherm program and nissan sensor.the air sensor is easy.if you want it behind the throttle blade you could tap the cold start injector hole on a na intake manifold.i am not squeemish about modifying parts.
  17. i just reworked a n47 intake for my turbo engine with megasquirt install.i got about 6 hours in it grinding .like the bumps in the ports for injector hold down screws.and opening it up for the bigger throttle body and blending for better flow to #1 cyl.i cut off the egr pad on my chop saw and welded a square piece of aluminum on the end.looks like a non egr manifiold.if you workon something long enough it will work.but who wants too.
  18. well-if you put boost down a carb with out boost referencing the float bowls you will push the fuel back into the carbs.that is with carbs downstream from turbo.if the carb is ahead of turbo and has a power valve the power valve has to be hooked to boost.this sounds like reinventing the wheel.a good efi system will make the car a daily driver that starts after sitting in a snow storm.and get good gas mileage like 23+ under normal driving.with out carrying a tool box.
  19. newer ford focus uses a mazda engine and oil filter is front& center on engine hanging downward.maybe some parts swapping?cartridge filters suck!when some kid at wallmart crossthreads a few covers people will be pissed.
  20. even though the turbo is making this much boost it is overheating the air and you still need a larger volume of air at a lower temp.if you run this much boost you need a wide band 02 to make sure the engine is fueled properly.if the efi cant follow the boost then you get boom.but if you like to work on your car alot try it.your timing needs to be about 22 or 24 btdc at boost .if you can make a 12to 1 af and have timing at a good setting it might live for awhile.a good cruutch is race gas.when i take my car to open track days i run race gas all day.usually run 14 psi but that is for 1/2 hour at a time.also run a 160 thermostat.

  22. i have never heard of scan tools that will change the output parameters of a sensor(thats what creating a failure would do).to create a failure you disconnect the sensor.a good scan tool(not cheap kragen code reader) will allow you to monitor the output of a chosen sensor.if you do a google search i think you can find software/cord kits for a laptop.i have only used the snap-on and ford dealer units.newer cars use the obd2 jack for much more than the engine function.i was test driving an expedition and watching the door pids for a door ajar condition on a rough road.could not confirm problem-was probably caused by a stressed mom not wanting to break her nails to close the to-heavy door alll the way.

  24. 75 or 76 tank will work on 240.77 or 78 wont.my 77 starves for fuel on hard turns after it hits 1/4 tank.the 280 tanks had a very large hose for out put to pump-about 11 mm.i have 3/8 aeroquip pushlok hose clamped to mine.if you are building a average horsepower 280 turbo install 5/16 hose will work.
  25. you need to have a hybrid z convention there.we will all wear white sheets and pointy white hats like kkk.we could practice blowing things up.
