my megasquirt directly drives the zxt coil/power transistor-no extra circuitry after the relay board

cars in socal dont rust unless they are by the ocean.car will keep for years in the desert.that car is almost big enough to use for an rv.

got my z back on the road to take the place of my 96 e150 cargo van with 5.8.the van is my suv/hobby support vehicle.i bought a boat this winter -now its for sale.takes 45 gallons of preminum to fill it.it gets about 3 mpg.still driving 56 miles a day to work sucks.

kind of like the fake mini video

brad-i gave sss510 a cam position sensor from a 05 v6 mustang-its mounted in the base of a 81zxt dizzy and functions as #1 cylinder sensor for his aem unit.about cop units -there are a few different units out there.i have 8 ford units-they need power transistors to fire them-they are basic 2 wire coils.i have seen some cop units from a late model bmw.the have the power transistor built into them and use 4 or 5 wires to control them.probably could be fired directly with new ms system.you should only need 3 magnets on the crank with 1 #1 cid sensor.i used a cherry prefab hall effect sensor to fire my ms from the flywheel.after learning how to wire it i noticed you could mount 1 in the valve cover with a magnet on the cam gear.if you really want to be cheesy you could fire 1&6,5&2,3&4 by wireing the primary wire on the cop units together and run wasted spark.but i heard there might be coil charge time problems.the hotest coils are on a merc 2.5efi outboard motor.since these are 2 stroke the coils have to fire every revolution-and fire at 9000 rpm with surface gap spark plugs.

after some fumbling around with my ms i figured out the target a/f table and how to turn it on.an innovate motorsports wide band 02 feeds the ms and the innovate gauge is on the dash even though i dont need it with ms.the ms reads the wbo2 and corrects while driving to the target a/f table.i was running out to 16/1 on the freeway but now i am running about 14.2.heard its hard on valves running lean-you take your chances.i think ms would pay for itself soon over stock efi just because its more precise.but ms isnt for everybody because it has a steep learning curve to get it running.my car is in the daily commutor car now.but if you play around it will suck gas-you have to pay to play.with 42lb injectors and big turbo you are playing hard.

use distributor setting -my ms is a 2.2 and its set to ms&s

that would be about $1.5million around here.i am surprised being close to washington dc things are that cheap.i am getting ready to bail out of komifornia.if i sold my 1400sq/ft house here i would only be financing $100k.

no tuning between runs?thats where the fun is at?

i have a sparco real fim approved race for my car for track days.it sucks on the street.it holds you in but you cant get in or out easy.and it blocks the door handle inside the car.its basically a deep fiberglass buckit.some of the aftermarkit tilt street seats look nice.just because it looks cool doesnt mean it is.

john lives in socal.maybe his wife sent him to 1 of those yuppie health spas. -
solder some wire and led's together and make a test light for the distributor.start there and work back.the ini. file will have to be configured for a pwm output.this part took me hours to figure out.i had no prior knowledge of ms word.i couldnt figure out how to set or unset a line in the file.

i have 8 connectors and cop units from a 2003 ford 4.6 truck engine.maybe ms v3 will run these.will need some kind of cylinder id for #1 though.like a hall sensor on the cam or in a distributor.sss510 made a #1 cylinder sensor from a 81zxt dizzy and a cam position sensor from a 2005 v6 mustang.the l28 would look better without plug wires over the valve cover.

moving across the country... best way to do it?
randy 77zt replied to JaysZ's topic in Non Tech Board
if you rent a truck avoid uhaul-i would hitchhick before renting anything uhaul.last truck i rented was a 24'box diesel from ryder.had auto trans ,a/c,hydraulic lift gate.it ran well and didnt seem to burn a lot of fuel.another member on here just moved.do a search-you will find his post. -
that wasnt the only time that car did that.i landed in some trees at nurburgring once.i minor aero engineering problem.

if you believe that stuff go to a feed store and get the magnets the farmers give to cows to swallow to catch metal.the rednecks around here have been taping them to fuel lines for years.you could be sophisticated and use wire ties to hold them on.dont know if it works though. -
my neighbor put an all stock 91 gmc cyclone for sale on ebay for $15k.somebody backed out on the sale and he kept the $500 deposit.i have bid on car on ebay and somehow even at 2am the price skyrockits.i dont like ebay for buying complete vehicles.a buddy that owns a used car lot bids on harley's and the supposed owners always want the money wired to them?i dont think so.

after a couple of weeks of drive & tune by tweeking the individual squares on the fuel map with out much luck i probably thought there was an easier way buried in the megatune that i wasnt using.after some fumbling around i noticed my target af on rpm wasnt set till 6000.i reset it to 1200 and drove.it was very lean.i checked the target a/f map and the motor was tracking it while driving according to the innovate gauge.so i loaded all the valuesthat i wanted into the target a/f table 1 at a time.then i reworked the timing map some.went for test drive-jackpot.the car rips-good thing its midnight on a sunday night in the country.it hit the 20 psi boost cut-i think it boost creeped over the internal waste gate.now i have to figure out how to get the map straighted out to read the computed fuel curve .i would like to compare it to the original map borrowed from moby.

Your Thoughts On This Lightweight Battery?..Pics
randy 77zt replied to slownrusty's topic in Non Tech Board
john coffey sells this type of battery but i forgot the brand name he sells.i have a 925cca in my car and it works very well.its built into the space behind the passenger seat underneath the trunk floor.i soldered ends on #2 welding cable for the cables. -
i got the diesel crank from pick&pull.i bought the short block .but that job iis a pain in the a$$ in the yard.i got rods from a 2400cc 810.just need pistons.if you scrounge and work hard you will get there.
-
i used a cherry hall effect sensor and magnets in the flywheel.magnets are 120 degres apart 60 btdc.the distributor is 81zxt.the ms fires the stock 81zxt power transistor on the coil bracket.

different states write their speeding laws different.in california anything 20 mph over the posted speed can get you a reckless charge.but it is up to the officer as to how he writes up the ticket.they usually dont do this unless you really do something stupid .the freeways run at 75 to 80 in the fast lane here.so you have to check your mirrors and look back up the onramps.so a really good hybrid z can get you in trouble quick.i just got mine back on the road after a year long upgrade.its hard to keep your foot out of it when it runs too good.

by hauling it around in back of my z to tune the megasquirt.it was a vintage 1996 ibm think pad.but you need a 9 pin serial port for the ms and all the new laptops have usb only.and i have heard other ms users cant get the usb/serial adaptors to work.it was strapped under the luggage straps.maybe it didnt like the 250in/lb springs.it was working 2 days ago but fired it up for some tuning for gas milage.it had some error screen with a bar graph on it.it went through that and shut down.now it shuts down about 15seconds after switching on.i rebuilt a z 5 speed for a friend and swapped labor for it.i will have to get another laptop before it goes to the dyno.

pick& pull-try getting a supercharger from a mid-90s ford thunderbird sc.the build brackits for it to go on pad on left side of motor below intake manifold.the get an intercooler and some kind of programmable efi.

the innovate has been reprogrammed.plugged in the laptop at work to retune some of the map at freeway cruise and my laptop is reading correctly.it was the old computor i had on the car in the garage that is off.its got to be a setting somewhere.after 2 weeks or so of driving it will be hitting the dyno.i have a 50 mile commute so i am going to make the ms pay for itself.probelm is some runs up to 16 psi isnt good for gas mileage.i am lookng for a dyno that can be loaded to simulate normal driving.i want my whole map checked on a dyno.i am looking for the car to drive like a new car since i work at a dealership and drive new cars .
