Sounds like you've got your priorities straight. Loose the rust, whatever it takes! My wife says, "Maybe she's learning how to Ballroom dance"

I've been trying to get this darn pict into the form section by pasting. I swear I'm a techno-retard. I did manage to get into the Photo Album again. Sorry for the back and forth between Modules guys. Some day I'll figure out this pasting digital picts stuff.

I've done some pretty stupid things in my life. ADD YOURS!
hanomon replied to maichor's topic in Non Tech Board
Back in 1976 my jr yr in High school, VWs were very popular on my island home of Hawaii. On the island of Oahu, downtown Waikiki Kuhio Ave, 3am Dec 24th, I was smoking while driving when glowing embers jumped out of the pipe-bowl (as a result of me gagging) and found there way into the leg-opening of my trunks at my inner thigh!! We locals live in shorts and, we surfers are usually in shorts only (if you know what I mean) In an attempt to save my namesake storage areas from further scorching, I stood on the floor to get the angle of my shorts pointing down twoards the floor so gravity could kick in hoping to shake out the hot coals, only to stomp down on the throttle! Taking my bloodshot eyes (momentarilly) off the road while doing this version of the Island fire-dance, I failed to notice the coconut tree making its way to the front of the car untill hopping the curb brought it to my/our attention. With not much time to react, I thought I turned away from that tree. Nope, we smacked that thing dead center. Windshield popped out in one piece and that VW bug's front end crunched up like an empty can. Back in the 70's seat belts were not yet manditory and my friend Karl got launched out the windshield head first (beer in hand) I thought for sure he was going to kiss that tree. He missed it by inches, did a forward roll, ended up in a sitting position (overflowing beer in his hand, held high above his unscathed head) yelling, "Wooohooo I only spiled 1/2" Meanwhile my other friend Darren who was sitting behind me, smacks the back of my head open with his face. He broke a front tooth in 1/2. My Uncle who was a Captian on the force HPD Pearl City precinct (who happened to be on duty at the time) Got his yard mowed, cars washed and boathull scraped clean from all three of us juvanile deliquents, for the next year in exchange for him not telling our parents. -
Another Painless Wiring Combo Switch Question
hanomon replied to mas8230's topic in Ignition and Electrical
Do you have continuity to any/all the circuts in question? I would begin their. Once you've insured the paths are established, move on to the various relays, switches, etc. Also, make sure all the grounding points are solid/unubstructed. Might try checking the soldered points of the combo-switch on top of the steering column. Mine was barely attached on the headlamp wire causing the lights to flicker when I would sometimes hit a bump. Takes some time but, big part of a good nights sleep, is knowing your car's wiring is good to go! -
Thanks for the camera path Tim. Those wheels are not the ones from Budnik we've been waiting for. Those have come in and I'll be posting picts tonight after work. The ones in the grill-shot are 20" off the kid's SUV, (for mock-up) When I got those giant rubbers all tucked in there, I knew that our 18" would look great and they do.

I've got one here in San Diego (orange, good shape) you can have it! No vents, nice price.

Got my 94'LT-1Vette motor/zf6 speed and all wiring even threw in the drive shaft. Guy's name is Chris Carol, runs Carol's Corvettes in Acworth Ga. Met him via ebay last year. I got a good deal! Might chek him out.

At a glance, kinda' looks like not too far from a Miyata.

I installed a VPA set from Summit, it works great. Easy instal.

Thanx-Drax 240z. I didn't realize how big that pict would be. I'll reduce the pixel setting on my camera. 305240, those big gaps have been covered over with a piece of skin from the donor-Zcar. If you look close in the lighted area, you'll see little spot-welds that will be filled and feathered in. The space behind them will be filled with body pannel adhesive. Thanks Jason, I also have a more conventional or familiar grill that is horizontal simi-gloss powder-coated. These two are straight bolt-ons. Hugh, those 1/4"gauge lines were a pain to polish. Three step rouge grey red then white. It's hard to tell from the pict but when the sunlight hits those bars, the reflection is almost blinding!

Here is the face-lift, what do you guys think?

HS30-H, to answer your question...YES! and...WAY! Considering the sourse, I wouldn't put much emotional stock in it. Cheers from SoCal.

Creation/Fabrication of strut tower bar/brace
hanomon replied to a topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I've got some picts of a 3/8" T-6 grade aluminum support with GTO type holes drilled and beveled edges, Counter-sunk hex-head bolts with nylock nuts. Don't think the jeweling will stay on. Probably will buff and shine it up to a nice mirror finish. Check it out, just click on the "Photo Album" in the Modules column under Main Menu, scroll down to last additions. -
My Condolences on your Mom passing. Congrats on the news of your grandson. I've got a few grandkids and they are the greatest. What's the deal with the right-side operating vehicles? Do you need some sort of international driver's liscence? How much is the fuel compaired to here in the US? Over their it's ? per liter, rather than gal. I could use some sort of comparison comfort during our soaring fuel cost here in So-Cal. Thanks, Dave

You gonn'a get any throttle-time on that Autobahn?

That 10psi hydro might be alright, I'd go 15psi. The padding could be replaced with landau. I've got pleanty left over that I used in my htr-syst, and will send you a chunk. Send me a SASE and you've got it.

Looking good Dan, That thing is gonna' fly!

Good going, I too have been following this one. You won't regret it! I have owned: 4 Datsun Zs (280-280-260-240), 1985 Camaro, 1969 Chevelle, 1994 BMW, 1997 BMW, 1996 Miyata, 1986 RX-7, and from my expierence (just my opinion) you would have regreted it. Welcome Back!

That is not bad for a wham-bam-job! Are the uneven spots you were refering to, those that look shineier on the side pannels? If so, then that still ain't too bad. Looks good!

In the wheel wells, you might want to shoot some textured flex-rubber coating called rocker-shutz.

Scarab vs Setback? The true test.
hanomon replied to SportZ2's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
Art, What model/year Z is this going to be done with? Has a bit to do with frame-rails. 40-60-80? -
Sounds like you had fun, I'm envious because they recently closed the only 1/4mile track in Carlsbad, San Diego County (I'm aware of). A couple weeks ago, Sunday was the final race. Now I think, I'll need to go up to Riverside, San Bernadino to test blast my mutant-Z. El Cajon has an 1/8th mile but, Naaaaah. Any one in So-Cal know where the nearest 1/4mile track is? I'm in Oceanside. Thanks guys.
