  1. 1984 300zx Turbo 5-speed When I am not moving it seems I can't turn the steering wheel at all, I guess like manual steering. It doesn't help to rev the engine or anything so I am guessing there is an issue with the power steering system. I don't really know what to look for, so any help would be appreciated. Maybe just needs bled and or more fluid?
  2. Is the tail light wiring separate so I can just replace that? Like the plugs that the bulbs go into and the wires that spider out to the different housings, does that come off the main harness?
  3. Some guy at a "datsun shop" claimed this was to an 84-86 300zx Turbo aka the BW T-5. However its not even close to my shifter so now I'm not sure what its to. Any help would be good, I am also trying to resell it so if you want it then make an offer.

  5. So whenever it rains I get in and pull out my seatbelt and its soaked. How can I fix this?
  6. Well I drove 20 miles and in the rain home from the shop and it was smoking when I got there. Its probably going to go away after a few days but I plan to check out the fluids to be safe. There was a drop or two of oil along the driveway that looks to have dripped out as I pulled in so I really wanna check it.
  7. Hey guys. Finally got the tranny swapped out. Huge list of stuff done at the same time. Replaced tranny, new clutch kit, resurfaced flywheel, new clutch slave, stainless braided clutch hose, new starter, new rear main, new clutch fork pin and spring and dust boots. Anyways, I drove home and got a very slight amount of smoke and burning oil smell from under the car. I figured its normal as oily hands touch stuff, and I'll be checking fluid levels weekly for a while and watching for oil spots. Are there any spots prone to leaking when doing something like this?
  8. 1984 300zx Turbo So first off I don't get air through and vents except the floor ones. Second I have a black square where I'm guessing another symbol goes on the screen of the Digital climate control. Burnt out bulb? Or burnt out screen?
  9. 1984 300zx Turbo. So I narrowed the clicking down the the relays right above the fuse block. The first relay in or on the left was physically clicking. I pulled it out and the driver window rolled halfway down and the clicking and flickering stopped. So what is the relay and do I just replace it? EDIT: FSM says it the power window circuit breaker. I think this is causing or related to the windows not working. What does it mean if its clicking and fluctuating the power to the whole car? Is this meaning its faulty?
  10. Had this problem start up a few days ago. Basically when that car is running or not if I put the key in acc or on I get an audible "click" coming from behind the dash on the far left end and when the click occurs everything electrical that's running at the time flickers or drops in power and then resumes withing a second. The engine is not being effected by the flickering. The flickering includes everything inside and out, headlights, dash, radio, engine accessories such as the vacuum pump... Help? Edit: Also my windows have stopped working completely however everything else seems to be fine besides the flicker... It solved itself for a few minutes where the windows worked but then started up again.
  11. I want some of the legit Z31 Nissan key blanks, and not those odd Z32 ones that work anyways, I want actual Z31 keys. Two or more if you got em!
  12. The two switches to the left and right of the primary gauge cluster have stripped the studs inside the plastic. So now when I turn the bolts in an attempt to remove them it just spins with the stud in place and wont loosen... I'm thinking the only way is to just rip off the switches and go in from both sides with locking pliers.
  13. Hey guys, I threw a new power supply in which was tested and it made no difference. So can I replace just that short wire bundle from the power supply to the primary cluster? Also how are the gforce and compass gauges powered? Is that seperate?
  14. My engine is real strong so I think I'll just get the heads rebuilt.
  15. What I found out is that the crate engine is non-turbo and they won't make the turbo version.

  18. Whats the difference in pistons? Anything in the heads? I take it that I had better get one thats built for a turbo then?
  19. This doesn't help at all. I know how a turbo works. I'm asking if a crate engine that is the assembled block, heads, and timing components, will accept either NA or turbo components. So If I buy one engine can I crate a NA or Turbo out of it? Or does a rebuilt engine need to be assembled different at the core for turbo or NA?
  20. I found a company who makes nice "crate" engines for the 300zx z31. Its basically the longblock with the heads and timing setup all put together ready for the rest of the engine to be installed. Anyways, is this setup the same for turbo or non-turbo or would there be different specs/parts installed? I could just bolt on my turbo manifolds and the turbo and my old oil pan and drop it in right?
  21. Here is where I'm at with my engine. Runs very strong but I have this annoying loud knock/tick. Engine I am going to try some ATF in the oil to free the lifter, if not should I go for some used heads, rebuilt heads, or rebuild the motor? Also notice the smoke, I am trying to figure out if its from the head gasket or the valve cover. I know there is about a quart too much oil in there so if I get rid of that maybe it will help, and the oil is not watery at all.

  23. So my 84 300zx turbo has been sitting for a few months without running. I just got it started again and as I was looking at it it was smoking just a bit from behind the passenger side valve cover. Couldn't tell if it were the valve cover or farther down but I hope its just water or something. I'll watch the oil level.
  24. I am looking at trading my 83 Chevy 3/4 ton, custom 454 swap with a 4-speed and 4x4, trading for a 1984 Toyota Celica 5-speed hatch. I have a clean title he can't find his and its a salvage due to a big dent in the side. So should I go through with it and go to the DMV and get the replacement in my name and trade or not worth the trouble? I also think my truck is worth about twice what he posted his car at. Thoughts?
