  1. Bad plug wires or plugs? ?? It had somewhat the same symptoms on my Z...cruise was fine, load it, it fell on it's face.
  2. Even PepBoys is selling the speed bleeders now. Just take an old bleeder in with you and compare threads.
  3. I use 14x6 wheels with 215/60 tires, slightly smaller than normal diameter. 225s also fit I believe. I like my 14s, very light, but the 15x6 wheels are nice too with the 205s.
  4. Yeah, they work well for a while. Then the thread sealer wears out after a year, and they leak air and won't bleed as nicely. Still works better than a regular bleeder, but that's my only complaint.
  5. I took my 80 in a 60 to court, officer didn't show. I think it happens more than they will admit. If he had shown up, I had nothing but my clean record to fall back on.
  6. Sounds like a fun project! I'm looking forward to hearing about your progress, and how it performs.
  7. I haven't seen any recent flowcharts of Rotomaster compressors, and I don't know if their designs have been updated since the '70s. Back then they were laggy and inefficient, and using a turbo on a high compression engine, you will want the most efficient compressor you can find. Personally I would stick with fuel injection as well, so if at all possible, try to get some factory turbo parts to build that engine, like exhaust manifold, oil pan, and EFI stuff. Sorry, not much help - the Cartech stuff looks trick, but it's expensive and carburated.
  8. I know him personally. He is a member here, user 1559, name Darrel; I imagine you could P.M. him. He also goes by Darrel on zcar.com and zdriver.com. And the tool is excellent.
  9. My 300rwhp is more than satisfying. I know there are faster cars somewhere out on the road, but I haven't run into one yet. I've been happy with the power level all year, but hopefully soon I can find the funds to swap out my cylinder head, and maybe run up the boost some more on the dyno. 350rwhp here I come...
  10. I looked at this bracket thing for a while. All I saw were welded on brackets for the '82 and later brakes. I found bolted-on brackets on an '81, but they were for the old style brakes (which suck, IMHO).
  11. What turbo are you running? It sounds like your turbo is running out of it's efficiency range maybe. You can see my dyno chart in the HybridZ personal gallery - my torque peaks early and falls off; power is steady with rpm. I am running a stock turbine; if you are running a stock turbo, I would expect it to run out at a high boost level, pumping hot air. You might have boost, but it may not be very dense.
  12. If fuel mileage is of concern, fuel injection wins every time. I get 27mpg cruising 85mph with my 300rwhp stock L28ET and a factory Z31 ECU. However that constantly corrects fuel mixture to stoich while cruising -- I don't know if you can tune a MS unit to do that.
  13. I think if you were calm, offered no resistance or arguements at the time of the traffic stop, and it wasn't a work or school zone, you may not have made enough of an impression on the officer. I hear this can make a difference when fighting the ticket, as the cop may not remember you well. If you decide to fight it, try to extend the court date as much as possible - mine was extended 2 weeks, but there was 4 months of time between my ticket and the arraignment. Good luck.
  14. We are a violently disposed nation. Just take a look at the mainstream television "entertainment". The majority of problem resolution is based on a violent solution. Just because guns do not technically "cause violence" does not mean I will have a gun in my home. Especially considering I have kids.
  15. That's an urban legend. Check it on snopes.com. I contested a ticket and the cop didn't show. Very nice, and congrats on getting the reduction Austin.
  16. I'm very happy with it. Throttle response is excellent, all emissions devices are gone and it still drives like factory. Only minor issue with driveability is at the strip spinning tires before going to the line; it wants to stall when I get off it. I believe a factory dashpot will solve that. There is not a lot of documentation on it. I made a wire list mapping the differences between the 280ZXT pinout and the '86 and '87 ECUs, but this infomation was drawn from a Chiltons manual. I suggest using a harness from a Z31 to avoid some of the signal swapping I had to do. Parts are easy to find - distributor disc from a Z31 bolts into the ZXT distributor ('82, '83), all Z31 MAF sensors are the same. I also would suggest a '84 -'86 as the O2 sensor for the turbos changed in '87, and the old ZXT O2 sensor won't work. If you have specific questions, just ask, but the install will require a bit of research.
  17. Dacelooper, that is a very nice looking setup!
  18. The T5 is quite strong, and most here will disagree with the above statement. Don't get me wrong - the Nissan trannies are very good. The weak link with the T5 is the shifting mechanism, which is easily remedied with a B&M or other aftermarket shifter (for Mustangs with T5s) with hard stops. I absolutely LOVE the way mine shifts now, and works reliably into the 11s.
  19. When I installed the T5, there seemed to be two types of tranny crossmembers: The original one from my 280Z that was straight across, and the one from the donor 280ZXT 2+2 automatic, which was swept back. I used the swept back crossmember, and slotted both the mount and the transmission mounting holes to get enough room to mount it. It was a PITA; from reading others' installations, those who weld have come up with better solutions. As far as I know, other than the driveshaft, that is all the custom work required. The T5 slave cylinder attaches and works well with the 280Z clutch master and line, and of course I used the 280ZXT flywheel and clutch (from another source, my original donor was automatic).
  20. Sounds good Yasin. I'm looking forward to hitting Bandimere again when it opens in the spring. I hope to see you then.
  21. 1. Yes. 2. Custom driveshaft, or swap flanges and possibly fit the 280ZXT driveshaft (but the U-joints are not replaceable). 3. I'm doing well with a stock 300ZXT computer.
  22. That's hilarious. I would never have considered that pump due to the fact it was only specified to 45 psi fuel pressure.
