James.( Thagard)...if your out there?? DIdn't you build THAT particular "split Tangental" plate for one of your guys a few years ago ?? Seems like we had talked about this some time ago. I'm thinking it was used on the launch manually for 1/4 mile testing.....looking to improve their 0-60 ft. times. I don't recall any data from it though. You'd need some really sticky meats to get traction spooling hard THAT early. .............Vinny

Now, help with tires please

I trimmed the inner upper arch all the way to the spot welds when I restored the car some years ago planning for it. The wheels are 8x17" and 9x17" 3-piece Veilsides with something like a 38mm rear offset.I'd have to look at them to be certain.Coilovers of course and the lower perch/sleeve mounted on the old perch remaining weld. I asked Ground Control to simply undercut the inner I.D. of the threaded sleeves and ground down the remaining welded area of the removed factory perch then powder coated them.Worked perfectly. Take a look at 2FIDDY's Z. He's running 275/17"s too. Although mine looks abit different regarding clearance. .........Vinny 8) -
Haaha, thanks ! I'm afraid to post any more until I take some NEW ones. I hate reposting and boring everyone out with old images. Besides.....alot has changed since those pix were shot.I just haven't had any spare time to touch the cars except when I have a moment to use them as fitment mules for the CF parts. Sad ,I know.....but nesscary for now. I'll make a better effort to snap some new shots as good ones come to mind and I'll update this thread. BTW....that green car is completely assembled with metric Stainless steel hardware thats been sanded and polished. Even the underside and jambs. Ridiculous "Labor of Love". But I'll never have to deal with recoating or rusty bolts again. .............Vinny

Joel....did you order 4 or 5-lug wheels ? I couldn't remember if you had upgraded your hubs and brakes yet ? Have you already trimmed out the rear arch sheetmetal for the wide rears and flares ? Thats a good project in its own.Be sure and place the flares in position and trace their mount points.....THEN cut the steel. Anyway,tires.......I've got 275/45/17's on a 9" rear w/coil overs. The fronts are 245/40/17's on a 8" with the Z31 hub all in stock unflared wheel archs. You really need to mount the rim only on the front and check your "lock to lock" steering before ordering meats. There may be some spacers needed before its all over to dial it in. Freakin' rubber can cost more than the wheels when we get into these larger rim sizes......at least for sticky high speed stuff ! .........Vinny -
Thanks for sharing that Marcus........... Merry Christmas guys, I wish Peace for ALL of you and pray we ALL might recieve a safe and happy New Year ! ..............Vinny 8)

Thanks for the compliments there. I've got a few pix posted in the " show pix of your car" thread thats going on right now. I posted images of the green 73' turbo Z with its old wheels and brake set -up. I haven't shot any new ones of it recently. The 2000 Roadster is tucked deep under a stairwell in my shop and covered with ...er,uh stuff !lol. Even my white early 260 is under a shed and covered from light in order to keep the red seats from fading ...and no new pix of it either. And the AWD Widebody project images have to go to Z Sport editors Dave and Art for its debut per our agreements. I'm sure in the next 10-20 months I'll be digging everything out again to dust off and start using again . i'll be moving into a new house this Dec.23rd and I'll be reopening areas in the shop wharehouse thats been cramped and stagnant for a couple of years now. Here's a pic or two in the meanwhile of old pix. Some are old hat by now to many HBZer's. Old engine bay......now has several upgrades further. Old 260 pix....before flares and wide wheels etc. This is my car at age 16.Still have her 27 years later. Here's an older pix of the beefy rear strut brace I fabbed up.Its also prior to my CF tail panel set parts. I guess I'm way overdue for some NEW images . I find these all boring at this stage since so much has upgraded and changed.I'll make an effort to do that. Thanks for your interest, again ! Best Regards.........Vinny 8)

Mark....are you sure the one you have isn't a modified(or attempted) early Camaro 3-piece ? They can look very similiar. Just a guess here. Vinny

So thats what I have to look forward too when I'm done with the Widebody AWD RB-Z ?? I'm sure they went through a buttload of tires before getting the technique down.Did you get a load of how MUCH preload oversteer was required to set up enough motion for losing to gravity and slide ??Geez O' Pete ! I would imagine he also was running a pretty decent "torque split" controller during the run.Cool vid, thanks. Vinny

Nice bits there Joel. Those are the good ones too !The silicone euro material won't draw up and brek down like others do with heat cycles. Much easier to handle too. ..........Vinny

Whatever it takes to keep you in the game Marcus. A tranny swap is cake compared to starting over. If you know that tranny is holding you back....definatly start researching a better set-up for your intensions and snag one up !You can ALWAYS load it on blankets into the Z's hatch like I've done 20 times. Drive it to Springburg and we'll do it ! Just get a GOOD replacement with the clutch and new bits so we'll get it right. Then you can drive her home with a smile. Maybe DSOMMER will feel like coming up to supervise with his V-8 background. He can bark and toss us a beer or 12 ! Just keep heart !One step at a time WILL get er' done ! Vinny

..............I like your RB-Z Official Tow Vehichle better, but this picture was of the best balanced fast tow vehichle I EVER used to pull my Z.( 260 w/big brakes pulling 240) It amazed me how well it did all the way to Heartland Park Topeka at 65-85mph ( outde of K.C.) and back to Springfield MO. Awesome to see you picked up such a great deal, I know you REALLY wanted one. ...............Vinny 8)
