  1. Thanks John, Sage advice and I'll definatly try this........thats not too tough to check out and reinstall as needed. I DO like the idea of changing the LCA mounting hole. Did I read right that it was ovaled up about 3/4 " ? I would assume some type of ecentric bushing or a welded pre-drilled insert would work once the proper spot was determined? I'm invisioning a plasma cutter being used here.Since I'm going to use an adjustable LCA and T/C rod combo, I'd be smart to get the stock position correct first, wouldn't you agree ? I also wanted to ask if this would now be something that I should build the tools to do my own alignments too ? Or would perhaps a few interviews with alignment guru's actually enjoy correctly tweaking this system in ?lol. .............Vinny 8)
  2. Just how big a load is THAT guys britches ? Holy crapola ! And NEVER scraped up anything too ! Amazing. He cashed in ALL of his lucky chips on that run. ..................Vinny
  3. Ahhh !I see what what you mean. I'll measure my current spacers thickness ( I have three different sized sets) and go with the thicker ones til' I get a good look of the geometry once preloaded on the ground again. Do you happen to have any visuals/pix of what could be considered as "best geometry" ? Vinny
  4. I'm definatly in for a full set of T/C 's and adj. LCA's for four bills. I would normally fab this up myself......but no spare time coming down the road for me any time soon. Aux: if your heading up this GB, please confirm me. thanks for the efforts.........Vinny 8)
  5. I've searched at no avail to the question of " correct spacer thickness as wheel/ tire combinations change" ? John C. has mentioned using different mm spacers per his roll center changes and obviously final tire height is a main concern for the final spacer height/thickness. I'm going with a 17" wheel with a 245/45 tire ( I'll measure mounted tire height tonite). I've got GC coil-overs and was about to re install everything when I was holding my old spacers in my hand ( block for 15" wheels) and began the questioning of whether or not I needed to mill them down.....eliminate them ....build thicker ones....or get everything installed and begin measureing for teh corrections ?? Please chime in for everyone who has crossed this bridge and laugh hard if I'm missing the obvious here !lol.
  6. Humina, humina, humina ! ( pronounced as hum-eh-nuh) ( stating lack of description while in awe) Looks great guys.........looks like its time for coil-overs and some trimming or notching on the ol' strut tower there ? Perhaps an interesting scoop on the hood to ram air to the turbo's in order to avoid a plumbing bottleneck ? ..............Vinny 8)
  7. Everyone speaking "go legal" on them is damn straight. I'm like Terry on this one Mike ! They have taken a stock block and prepped it for a standard rebuild........faulty prep or workmanship will never have an excuse. They owe you a FULL refund legally for any services rendered related to the block. If you bitch loud enough about your legal intentions....you may even get them cover your block JY replacement. But you'll need to have that figure ready to negtioate at the moment they cave, not later or they will most undoubtably renig. You come across as "too nice" and this D"""head is clearly trying to make you just go away. Big stick time........enough walking quietly ! Good Luck...........Vinny 8)
  8. Too funny ! Thats R&D at its best....in the field study ! .............Vinny
  9. Thats the ONLY thing that I wanted you to do to the car Terry........now give it ! lol. ..........Vinny 8)
  10. It doesen't matter WHO was at fault, a loss of life like that steals time away from the living of others and is worse than any robbery or tresspass ! Accidents like these are.....at best ,sobbering.Mike I hope that when your boys are alone in heart or missing their friend.....you remind them to focus on the best of this person and find a jewel moment to laugh about .These are the things that make you pull though it. I wish someone would have told me this after I lost Greta in her crash to a kid driving with his knees'. The last time I got a C & I Mike was at 16 ! The insurance rate was a mother for 7 years after that. You guys be careful.........pay attention Damn it ! .........Vinny 8)
  11. I am SOOOOOO overdue for a vacation ( 5.5 years) .........think maybe I'll watch this thread and see if it materializes. I bought my RB from Bernard who was originally from LVegas (lives in Japan like Matt) ....but I didn't stay and experiance the Vegas spirit ! I could use a little livin' for a change ! Would Love to meet Clint,Matt etc. in person. ..........Vinnie 8)
  12. I agree,somewhat.lol. But once there is closure at the T-plate,thats it....no more movement forward, period. However the turbo is still spooling, pushing the pressure up but with great restriction thus the bearings getting abused. So by placing the BOV after the turbo but before the IC,the cooled dense air in the IC,which is stalled and waiting will still be at relative temps to the last gulp that just passed into the throttle pasage !No temp change (adversly, anyway) so no fuel/air stumble....just instant "back-on" burn. Right ? Oh well, I've got two 50mm Tial BOV's.......so I'll put one after the turbo and before the IC.........see how it does, then just for curiosity,I'll place another one in front of the T-plate.Then viceversa so I'll know if one works better than the other or if the seperated pair works best in unison. This combo is going on my RB26DETT AWD Z,so I don't care how the plumbing looks,I just want max efficiency and light weight........consistant,denser,cooler air are my friends. ...............Vinny 8)
  13. Geez........these stories bring up memories, too funny. : I was 16 working two jobs through the Summer to buy parts for my Z which was in the paint shop. I picked up an old Super Beetle for a driver for 200$ to get me by. One day I managed to park in a spot where three motorcycle guys always seemed to claim. They got their panties in a wad and had about 10 of them high center the bug on a big median curb ! So when I left to go to my next job of course I was late and pissed ! I told a Bike mechanic neighbor about it and he came up with a friend and we dissasembled all three crotch rockets down to the heads and left them carefully piled up and mixed up them ALL up but good !! Ok yes, it did cause a fistfight but those jerks NEVER messed with anyones property again I'm sure !I believe in tough Love.Spare the rod ...your kid breaks the law ! lol. Don't be Hatin'..............Vinny 8)
  14. Jamie I would say that MAtt @ Motorworx could safely answer that question. I posed the same query when I bought my BCNR RB-26 from Bernard in Japan as it came with factory twin BOV's in series too. I would imagine they are failsafe back-ups for the higher RPM discharges and perhaps were cheap because they had a milliion made up. My thought is to go with the two Tial 50mm red ones I bought and mount them as close to the turbos as possible for the fastest hot air discharge......that way I'm not overworking the Intercooler with air that I don't use. One on each T-discharge tube before they reach or blend to the I/C. ..........Ramble over,Vinny 8)
  15. Build a flared Datsun 2000 Roadster with a Syclone/Typhoon drivetrain (turbo/Intercooled v/6 4.3 all wheel drive) .........I know a V/6 will fit with turbo's and the car handles killer with only 2000 pounds ! .........Vinny 8)
  16. ..............I ran a stock T/3 with stock size piping IC'd and ran 15-18 lbs for about two years with strong feel. The day I went to 3" IC pipes and a 4" IC core with my larger custom intake the thrust bearing failed because I didn't have my BOV installed .Oil blew out of the tail pipe and I killed every bug for a city block...lol. Like a dumb *** I put on an even lower mile turbo and did it within 30 minutes again.Proof that BOV's DO save turbos....at least original 80's T/3's with miles on them. Installed the HKS sequential BOV and another T/3 and it worked great....but I realized the larger diminsions of the piping and intake would only be balanced with a turbo appropriatly sized for flow acceptance .So on went a Turbonetics T/3-T/4 hybrid and I changed the SS 2.5" exhaust to SS 3" and life is good ! hope this sheds some light ?,Vinny 8)
  17. Is there enough room to put two upswept 90 degrre elbows at the compressor inlet in order to allow to have a custom composite airbox that would fit against the hood skin that also draw cool air with a custom hood inlet/duct/scoop ? It can all be fabbed either from Joel/James(Composites Engineer)/or me for that matter. Question to James is.....can the 90* elbows get squeezed into place ? ...........Vinny 8)
  18. Holy huge downpipes Batman !! Are those terminating with 4.5" diameter ? So badass Joel and James. Can't wait to hear the full RPM roar coming out of those pipes too ! James.......PM me with an estimate in 321 for the same arrangement right down to the same design but with terminating at 3" downs if you can ? .........thanks,Vinny 8)
  19. I haven't looked at a map,but Dave and Art from "SPORT Z" magazine are in the state pen , uh,er.....I mean in the state somewhere.....maybe the'd know of a hot spot ? (besides their nostrile) lol. Man I bet your diggin' on the temps huh Stonemeister ?? ..............Vinny 8)
  20. Haha..Jamie,what could you POSSIBLY be jealous of ME for ? lol. It could ONLY be the later BCNR ...right ? haha......now I'm re-thinking my WHOLE life in a paranoid loser kinda' way....lol. Nice manacure "by the way" Joel.lol. My hands tend to look like mice chew on the fingers when I sleep hahaha.....wait,that could be hap.......Noooo. I did manage to get A N1 oil pump from Bernard in Japan. What a strange oil pump these are too !But a good design as far as comparing to an L-series. Whats the brand of choice everyones getting for their bearings ? ...........Vinny 8)
