  1. Here's my personal opinion........ I've owned a manual TR-3,RX-7, and a 280 ZX and loved driving them. I've added a 72 240, 74 260. and a 75 280 Z to the 80 280 ZX I currently own. The 75 280 V8 with a blower is the only one with an auto tranny and for my use- 80% street- it is the best way to go for that set-up. Stop and go traffic is not fun to me anymore with a manual tranny. That's part of the CALIF. package you sign when you enter our state. My better half drives a KIA SPECTRA GSX, she's on her second KIA, and love's that car. I hate to say it, on a long trip, I'll take it too. LARRY
  2. One hand on wheel, one hand on horn: CHICAGO. One hand on wheel, middle finger out window: NEW YORK. One hand on wheel, middle finger out window, cutting across all lanes of traffic: NEW JERSEY. One hand on wheel, going 85 with front bumper two inches from car ahead of it,other hand clenched in a fist: MICHIGAN One hand on wheel, one hand on newspaper, foot solidly on accelerator: BOSTON. One hand on wheel, one hand on nonfat double decaf cappuccino, cradling cell phone, brick on accelerator, gun in lap: LOS ANGELES. Both hands on wheel, eyes shut, both feet on brake, quivering in terror: OHIO, but driving in CALIFORNIA. One hand on 12oz. double shot latte, one knee on wheel, cradling cell phone, foot on brake, mind on radio game, banging head on steering wheel while stuck in traffic: SEATTLE. One hand on wheel, one hand on hunting rifle, alternating between both feet being on the accelerator and both feet on brake, throwing McDonald's bag out the window: TEXAS. Four-wheel drive pick-up truck, shotgun mounted in rear window, beer cans on floor, squirrel tails attached to antenna: OKLAHOMA. Two hands gripping wheel, blue hair barely visible above windshield, driving 35 on the Interstate in the left lane with the left blinker on: FLORIDA One hand on the wheel, the other on his sister: ARKANSAS LARRY

  4. FART FOOTBALL ---An old married couple no sooner hits the pillow when the old man passes gas and says, "seven points." His wife rolls over and says, "What in the world was that?" The old man replied, "It's fart football." A few minutes later his wife lets a barker go and says, "Touchdown, tie score." After about five minutes the old man lets another one go and says, "Aha, I'm ahead 14 to 7." Not to be outdone the wife roars out another one and says "Touchdown, tie score." Five seconds go by and she lets out a little squeaker and says, "Field goal, I lead 17 to 14." Now the pressure is on the old man. He refuses to get beat by a woman, so he strains real hard. Defeat is totally unacceptable, he gives it everything he's got, and accidentally craps in the bed. The wife says, "What the heck was that?" The old man says, "Half-time, switch sides." LARRY
  5. Well..... are you telling him to bolt on 72 SU'S to his 81 280ZX engine LARRY

  8. It must be because the rainy season is near in CALI. because your post is confusing me . 99% of the Z cars with 26k actual miles on them are 350 Z's. Did you look under the hood? It would look quite different between 26k and 126 or more k. My experiance with interiors is that it's owners care not mileage that determines quality look. Why are you pulling interior from your gold one?? When you start that interior pieces of that age break and warp. If indeed that is actual miles, for $500, you got the deal of the year!! Better then the "chicken coop" 240Z find . LARRY
  9. DAMN!!!!! This is part of the Hybrid world we live in . Seems my list of things to do for a long distance drive applies also for a one block drive. http://hybridz.org/nuke/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=37351 LARRY
  10. First of all I agree with TIM on the dyno tune. I've put 7000 miles on mine in the last year so here are a few of my suggestions before you go!! 1. Do a 20 mile cruise to check for cooling problems at highway speeds. 2. Retighten all bolts ,screws, and fasteners. 3. Recheck all fluids. 4. Recheck tire pressure. 5. Reclean battery posts and tighten cables 6. Take a small bag of tools including a spark plug socket. 7. Take a map. 8. Don't forget your cell phone and make sure it's charged. 9. Have a good flashlight and carry a fire ext. 10. Don't trust your fuel gauge. 11. Have your tow card with you and up to date. You may laugh at some of these but don't ask how I know about them!!! LARRY
  11. The guy selling this one has a ZX-R on e-bay with a complete set of decals and part of another one. You should contact him. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6187&item=2491172689&rd=1 LARRY
  12. Great time and in person the clean lines of Dan's car can really be appreciated. Nice way to compare the two styles of front air dams also. Notice that my car is ahead of him at least in the parking lot!!!! LARRY
  13. Let's see if this helps..... To check window motors. apply DC 12 volts to motor terminal and make sure motor rotates. Reverse polarity of DC 12 volts and make sure that motor rotates reversley. If neither windows operate check the circuit breaker. Connect one side of a rheostat to + 12V,DC and the other end to the terminal furthest from the mounting bracket of the curcuit breaker. Connect the other terminal of the breaker to an Ammeter. Connect the ammeter to - 12V,DC. Gradually decrease rheostat resistance until ammeter indicates 30 amperes. At this point connector reading should decrease to 0 ampere in about 35 seconds. If motor and circuit breaker are good it's the wiring/connections. LARRY
  14. There's a good Dyno Jet shop in the FAIRFIELD/SUISUN CITY area if you're willing to to go that distance. LARRY
  15. I agree with A.G. Take a look at this link... http://www.aa1car.com/library/us1097.htm LARRY
  16. This is the quote from the 78 280Z FSM, " Bulbs for indicator or for illumination can be easily replaced by twisting bulb socket. All meters and guages can be easily replaced without removing instrument panel." I'd like one of those STOOGES to come over here and demonsrate to me the ease of that quote on one of my cars!!!!!!! :flamedevil: LARRY
  17. bastaad525 wrote.. This link may interest you.... http://www.geocities.com/zgarage2001/engine.html Go to Seventh- Ignition and read the sparkplug writeup. LARRY
  18. See if this link helps... http://www.geocities.com/zgarage2001/engine.html Drop down to part four on tthe transmission and in it it explains matching speedometer to the diff. BTW the red cog has 20 teeth and is for a 4.11 rear end. LARRY
  19. wecvusmc,.............Smart decision I would not touch anything on that car and I bet the blower was just thrown on that engine. If your going with a blower pm me because they require a special build of engine or you might as well take your money and toss it in the street!! Take your $1500 and continue your quest. There's one out there for you. LARRY
  20. As far as price goes in FAIRFIELD it's $7.50 for a TAURUS fan on 1/2 price day at pick-n-pull. Even high speed is quiet but my double takes are from sidepipes and blower noise rather then from the fan. LARRY
  21. A few thoughts.... 1. What model blower is it? 2. What's the engine build? 3. What does the cooling system consist of? Spend the $100 or so for a 3 pull chassis dyno with the a/f ratio recorded. For $1500 this is either a steal or a big money pit....IMHO!!!! LARRY
  22. My understanding of it is, it's on the same fuse as the Hazard flasher unit is on. Right side, third up from the bottom and a 10a fuse. Do your flashers work? LARRY
