  1. I write software applications. I own two companies(see sig), work full time at the University of TX, and do these side jobs for a hosting company. I've got 7 projects going on right now and work about 80-90 hours a week! I've been doing this for 6 months now and I'm used to no sleep. I'm looking forward to the day where I can quit my job and just work full time on my business's. I'm getting there! Specially if I get this job I'll be much closer to my savings goal. Phyte
  2. I just put an 81 5 speed in my 74 260 last weekend. One warning is that the cross member is different, the 81 tranny is slightly offset so use the 81 cross member. It bolts right up. Also I had an automatic, and the shifter on the 81 tranny was about 2 inches further forward so I had to take the console out. If yours is an auto right now you'll have to cut out some metal out of the trans tunnel. All in all it was a really easy swap. Phyte
  3. I just sent off a project proposal for a little over $43,000 I've got a great "in" on this project, lets hope I get it! If I do get the 3 month project then my Z is getting some new parts BTW I work full time, so this money isn't a main source of income. I usually do the 2-5k jobs on the side(at night late, ugh), but this is the "big one". I should know in a week or so. Wish me luck!! Phyte
  4. I haven't seen this done in a while and I think its time to show off our cars! Just post a pic or two! I'll start Phyte
  5. Mine does the same thing. Its just the sender though. Phyte
  6. Notice no piping is done. There's a reason for that Phyte
  7. I have no real experience, but from everything I've seen online about this the stock cam is the best cam you can have for a below 400hp L28et. I've heard countless times not to waste money on head porting and cam if your goal is below 400hp. I'm sure someone else can chime in on this. Phyte
  8. So with me upgrading the fuel pump and larger lines, with a custom fuel rail should I be ok on the fuel issue above 5000rpm, or is it an injector issue? Also by modifying the AFM, do you mean tightening the spring? I'll be putting an adjustable FPR on my new setup and I'll go ahead and tap a pressure gauge on the rail.
  9. I just got a quote from Courtsey of $49.05 + 8$ shipping. I'll spend the extra money over the $17 felpro cause replacing HG's are kind of a pain, specially for only $33 difference. Phyte
  10. Autozone lists Felpro, Beck/Arnley, and ROL on their website for head gaskets. Are any of these better/worse quality then the nissan? Phyte
  11. It won't be intercooled just yet. Now the obvious question, where is the cheapest place to buy a nissan gasket? Courtesy Nissan in richmond TX? Also I'm running a larger pump and larger lines. I'm making a fuel rail too, but the injectors will be stock. Thanks
  12. I'm going to start rebuilding my L28et in a few weeks and its got a BHG. I'm going to be running 9-10 psi for quite sometime, then up the boost down the road after interior/paint(year or two). I like to save money where ever I can, so if a stock HG will work just fine for this application I'd rather use one of those instead of spending $150 more on a steel one. Phyte
  13. Welcome aboard, and what ever you do DON'T WATCH THIS MOVIE! Phyte
  14. Quicktime works great on my Mac However Internet Explorer is the worst piece of software for Mac. Think there's a little hate between the two groups Phyte
  15. From Member "J Taylor" from this thread I didn't say stock turbo I said stock ECU. I'm going to use the 75 intake on my 78 L28 with an 75/76 ECU. The wiring only seems like a few wires, and I've already got a factory installed electric fuel pump. Phyte
  16. I'll second the L28et. I got one complete off ebay for $152. I mean EVERYTHING. It just needs a head gasket Phyte
  17. Honestly man I work 90 hours a week with 3 jobs, and I don't have time to learn a setup like that. With my L28et I'm just looking at 10psi on stock everything else. Once I get this car done I'll just drive it around like that until my new business takes off then probably get a different daily driver and turn the Z into a track car. I've seen some pretty impressive numbers on hybridz with stock ECU. I can't remember who it was but they put down over 380 rwhp with the stock ECU. Phyte
  18. Actually I'm not using the 83 turbo intake/ecu, etc. I've got a 75 intake, and if I get the computer from a 75/76 I should just be able to splice it in? I've already got a factory installed electric fuel pump on it, so I should just need the gas tank, intake, TB, and computer? Then when I swap the turbo motor in I'll aready have the gas tank and lines run and the only thing I'll have to "reswap" is the ECU. Phyte
  19. I've got an L28et going in sometime around July, but the current L28 thats in my 74 260z is running kinda rough. I know the SU's are wearing out because they won't hold a tune for longer then a couple days. Since I'll be converting to FI with the L28et anyway, I'd like to go ahead and convert the current L28 to FI. I'm currently searching for a 75/76 gas tank, and I'll pick up a good fuel pump and run new lines. Basically what my question is, will a computer from a 75/76 work properly with my 74? I've already got a 75 intake, so I'll need a TB also. Anything else? I want this to be an easy conversion since I'll be replacing it anyway in a couple months. I just need my car to run better, and the gas smell is about ready to kill me. Damn carbs Phyte
  20. No kidding! Nothing bothers me more then seeing young kids at drag races with no ear protection, when their parents have protection. I'm talking Top Fuel events where its extremely loud. Its like when you see parents buckled up in the cars with their kids roaming free.. Really me off. Glad he had fun! I've got two boys. Phyte
  21. Is that a challenge I see Yes it will be a while before I'll be able to keep pace with yours. I figure 10psi will suit me well until I redo the interior and body. Then I'll think about a larger turbo then, but thats a year or two down the line. Phyte
