  1. OK, stupid question. How do the AN fittings mount onto braided line. I would like to start making some fuel lines using AN fittings and have not seen any close up yet. Are they twisted on, crimped, etc.? Thanks
  2. Car looks goood! Hey, did you wind up using my fender that Warren picked up last year?
  3. I don't think a 76 will work on a 78. The 76 is a side mount sending unit (right?) and the 78 is a top mount. I had to get a good used one from zbarn.com
  4. Here is the reply from them: Thank you for an email. I can send a part abroad. A means of payment and an order are e-mailing. A place of payment . SAITAMARISONA bank Yashio № 1462454 Credit card payment VISA MASTER CARD KAMEARI ENGINE WORKS SHIGEO MORI http://www.kameariengineworks.co.jp
  5. I shot them an email requesting information about ordering and shipping to the U.S. I'll post it here if I get something back from them.
  6. Me likey a lot... but don't see english version. How are you getting prices?
  7. I'm rebuilding the heater box in my 1978 280 and the heater control valve is shot. I contacted Motorsport Auto to order their $81.56 replacement and it seems that there are none left in the US and they have to be ordered from Japan. New price $260. They are on back order so I went ahead and placed the order-no choice. I have looked all over and haven't found one other than the MS one. I really just wanted to give everyone a heads-up on this because eventually they will be gone everywhere. It may be time for some of the heater/AC gurus on this site to see if there are suitable replacements available from other makes or models of cars...hey, it's been done with wiper motors and blower motors so far.
  8. ThomaZ- great idea, I'll check that out too.
  9. There is an architectural antique auctioning company here in Atlanta that I used to work for during college. It was all very high-end stuff and always touted as having no reserve. There were ALWAYS people in the crowd working with the auctioneers posing as legitimate buyers who would drive up the price or buy the item when it didn't bring what the auction company wanted. It would crack me up to see the same item resurface auction after auction.
  10. It was me and three friends when I put my 280 shell on the rotisserie. It takes a moment to get everything lined up to mount the car and you really need the stability of four people- plus one (my wife) to slide each end on.
  11. wheelman- please post some pictures if you can find them; I would like to see your setup. Thanks!
  12. Thanks guys. I'm ready to wrap this up and move on to something fun. Dale, I'm interested in your Civic blower- I'll shoot you an email or give you a call this week.
  13. I have come to the restoration of the heater box portion of this odyssey...oh boy! The box is out and completely disassembled. The heater control valve and thermo-control unit are both shot and all the connecting hoses are rotten. The heater core looks like it may be OK; I'm going to take it to a radiator shop to be tanked and pressure checked. Anyway, all of the insulating foam in the unit has disintegrated. I need to know what to use as a suitable replacement for this foam and what type of glue to use. I did a search but didn't find what I was looking for. Anybody know of a good replacement foam? I can see where the foam was on the door over the heater core and around where it sealed to the dash duct but thats about it. It looks as though there was some foam on either side of the heater core and possibly elsewhere in the box...I'm just not sure where. Does anybody know? Thanks!
  14. nazar-three swaps and no problems; you'll learn soon enough that cheap does not always mean bad!
  15. I just checked online and the GM 3990332 mounts are $78.00 and the Autozone replacement part IS $7.99! Sounds way too good to be true; anybody else tried these mounts?
  16. Dan- is the adapter you mentioned something currently available or is it something that must be fabricated? If so, are there any plans, diagrams for it? Thanks!
  17. Mike, Thanks for the information on D&D Performance!
  18. I was just discussing this in another thread: "Anybody ever try Advanced Auto's half shaft?" Jon posted a photo of a disassembled halfshaft in this thread and I was wondering something as I looked at the ball bearings and plastic spacers: Wouldn't it make the halfshaft much stronger if you substituted additional ball bearings for the plastic spacers? It would add a lot more steel in those grooves...right?
  19. I just was the runner up in an ebay bid for a matched pair of 85 300zxt cv axels and was offered another pair for $83. Should I go for it and skip halfshafts alltogether?
  20. Thanks for the help Jon. You've just saved me from another time draining project that I tend to fall into as this project moves along.
  21. One of the halfshafts is binding when you extend and compress it. I'm doing a fairly mild V8/T5 combo so I figured halfshafts with good U-joints would be ok but I wanted to be sure they were as stout as they could be. A guy with a V8 Z around here had one let go on him and it really tore the underside of his car up.
