  1. I called Advanced Auto and they said they did not have the rebuilt half shafts available any more. Does any one know who does or know anywhere to get a rebuild kit for them? I mean the whole rebuild kit not just u-joints and new boots. Thanks.
  2. It's like some of the Hooters chicks I've seen. NICE A$$....BAD Grill.
  3. I remember now...the early model is a side mount and the later a top mount.
  4. Have your future wife start actively looking for work NOW. It is always easier to find a job when you have a job. If she has a solid track record with a good work history she should not have a problem finding employment before Jan. When she does get an offer she should explain about the two days needed in January and that she is obligated and plans have been made. She should explain to her current employers in a professional manner why she is leaving. If she does not find another job before your trip and you intend to go anyway; she should give two weeks notice before the trip with an explanation of why. You will be amazed at the reaction you get when a qualifed employee calls the bluff of an employer in a professional manner. Two extra days is no big deal and could be deducted from next years vacation time or pay could be deducted for the two days off. Her bosses sound like jerks and she would probably be better served by moving on anyway.
  5. Does anyone know the difference between an early 75-76 and a late 77-78 280Z fuel sending unit? Is it a physical (fitment) issue or a mechanical (early model won't work w/late guage)issue? Thanks
  6. Phantom- If you have a good one please let me know!!! Mike-The 75-76 sending unit will not work in a 78 so I doubt a 240 unit will work (I'll check). The unit looks pretty simple; I wonder how hard it would be to fab. There is going to be a need for these in the future as old ones start to fail.
  7. Take them over and do what...babysit???
  8. How old is your catalog Mike? Their new one does not list the 77-78 sending unit. I emailed them and they were the first ones to tell me it was no longer available.
  9. Here is my situation: I have a 78 280Z that I am mounting a 2nd gen. RX7 fuel tank in so that I can run dual exhaust (the tank sits nicely in the middle of the car and has heat shields on both sides). I saw this done on the President of the Atlanta Z Club's car and it really turned out nicely. He cut out the sending unit mount from his 280 tank and brazed it onto the center of the RX7 tank. I pulled my sending unit out and it is in very poor condition (I can't beleive it worked when I was driving the car). I called around and the late model 77-78 sending unit is no longer available. I would like to use my factory gauges so I was wondering if there are alternative sending units that will work with the late model 280Z fuel gauge or if my only alternative is to get the RX7 sending unit and use it with an after market guage. I really would rather not use a salvaged 280Z sending unit. End of rant.
  10. I about blew my lunch all over my computer when I this...soooo true!
  11. Looks good! Are you going to replace the battery tray or relocate it?
  12. Looks great from what I can make out on the photo (how about some more pics in higher resolution). Even though I'm not at that point yet, I have been thinking about how to fab the trim rings for my V/R headlight covers... I'm glad you are getting so much R & D done! Please share a little more about the bead roller you came up with. I get pumped up to work on my car every time I read one of your posts. Keep them coming!
  13. ...and the bullets are in the clip backwards.
  14. It's got a large round clip (15 rounds maybe) displayed with a pistol that will not accept it.
  15. 'Hot-roding' what's your definition? Weren't the origional "hot-rodders" guys who were swapping flathead V8's into model T's??? What we are doing IS hot-roding; enginuity, imagination, skill, fabrication.... A fart box and aftermarket air cleaner does not make a "hot rod"!!!
  16. This type of paint is formulated to adhere to plastic interior parts. It looks like the origional vinyl (or is supposed to).
  17. 2003z- Was that your lime green Z I saw Eddie working on last week? If so...Nice! Eddie is cool; been doing Z's a long time. I'm glad his shop is only about 15 mins. away!
  18. Sounds like Kevin is the man. Thanks guys for getting back to me with the feedback.
  19. Is anyone using one of these beefed up t5's yet? If so, which one is it and how does it perform (strength, gear noise, etc.). Thanks!
  20. Thanks Jon, I'll check out the brake FAQ ...fixed the link
