Perhaps they got thier mold troubles worked out. Did you place your order on-line? -

You're right, Hugh. They are really lagging in that department. FWIW... I don't know if MSA or VB are selling any flares, other than the ZG's, right now. I think that the company who was producing thier FRP (Wings West) was bought out. The new company, it is rumored, no longer wishes to make Z parts. -
Did they not teach him the AGSM? Lol

Those are the ones. The pictures in the MSA catalog are horrible. Unfortunately I wasn't able to measure the difference between the two. I took the ZG's back before I got my hands on these. If I were to venture a guess I would say that they are roughly an inch wider. They are definately wider than the Victoria British steel flares, too. -

You should have seen the other side... it was much worse! Now it's straight as an arrow. -

Thanks Joel, glad you dig 'em. I have to admit that they have grown on me quite a bit... to me they seem to fit the car much more than the bubble-butts I created. They are the 'Street' flares that MSA and VB have listed in thier catalogs. I was mistakenly thinking that they were IMSA's. Those are the only pictures I have available right now. There's a slight possibility that I could get a picture this weekend, but that's up in the air right now. -

Slowly... but surely. No progress has been made on the drivetrain side. I had decided upon the RB while bodywork/paint was in progress. I have spent the past several months trying to figure out how to cover my rear wheels! The VB flares were not large enough, ZG's didn't work, the mudflap IMSA flares didn't fit... *sigh*. So we had decided the throw caution to the wind and modify the VB's to fit. That resulted in some MASSIVE bubble-butt flares: Fitting ONE flare was a huge amount of work and, although I liked the way it looked (call me wierd), was not worth the effort at this time. I was actually dreading working on the car. I like fabrication and such... but I HATE bodywork! So I've moved on to a bolt on fiberglass flare. I think they are the IMSA street flares: The car will be ready for paint within 2-3 months. Once the car is painted I'll have the car back to my house (wife and I just moved into our own house) for final assembly and fabrication. I wish I had more progress to report, but life has been hectic recently and the RBZ has suffered! -
Take it easy! Edit: Sparks and I posted at the same time

I think that is a large part of the problem. People are, for the most part, emotionally attached to thier political and religious viewpoints. SOME individuals feel that thier viewpoint is the ONLY viewpoint... that doesn't leave room any for 'side-to-side' action. As a result alot of topics have turned from reasonable (and respectfull) debates into flat out slug fests. The key, in my opinion, to having a great (and mature) debate is the ability to concede points. Typically, when one cannot make concessions in a discussion, they resort to name-calling and insults. Once the pot is soured... it hurts the entire forum. You can say that this forum is "Not a democracy" and you can call it a "dictatorship", but I don't see it that way. The Moderators and Admins are merely doing what they can to ensure that HybridZ's quality level remains high. That quality directly relates to post content and member maturity. The Mods and Admins are people, too, and are not fallable. Even if I don't believe in every decision they make I applaud them for thier efforts. Does believing in God, hating the government, boycotting oil companies, or selling Amsoil (or whatever it is) matter when I need some technical help? Does my suspension setup care what political stand point JohnC takes? NO. But if I disliked John's views (or John disliked mine ) I could potentially miss out on some valuable information. The ENTIRE board could potentially miss out on his experience because we allowed our personal viewpoints to cloud our real purpose here: Z cars, Z car performance and engine swaps. Further... our search archives could be filled with hundreds of posts that contained NO technical or relevant information and were merely shouting matches and temper tantrums. I love to talk politics and religion (since quite a few of my views are against the grain), but I recognize that I don't have to have these discussions with everyone, everywhere and all the time. Sometimes these discussions cloud our perceptions and limit the quality (and potential value) of our friendships, acquaintences, business relationships...etc. If you knew everything about everyone chances are you wouldn't like anyone... So..uh... JohnC... What about that suspension setup? Sorry John for using you as an example!

Wolf spiders and jumping spiders I'm cool with. Black Widows and Brown Recluses (lived in Oklahoma for a spell) I terminate with extreme prejudice. They represent an Axis of Evil...

Cygnus, I think you'll learn to love SW. I now hate using AutoCAD (which I started using in '91).

Yeah, but he's looking for a single stage paint.

Hey Scott I found a company that offers a "Black Cherry Pearl" acrylic enamel. I don't know what quality thier product is, but it might be worth a look: http://www.kirkerautomotive.com/html/acryl_glo.html Paint Colors: http://www.kirkerautomotive.com/images/PDF/acryl_glo.pdf Think it is supposed to be close to this color (crappy pic):

Ultimately... you get what you pay for. Megan isn't the highest quality stuff out there. I would put Megan and SSAutochrome at the about the same quality level. However, one should do what is best for themselves and thier budget... I, personally, wouldn't think less of anyone using Megan stuff. I'm just not a big fan of these 'bargain' companies... but I won't get into why!

A rear sump oil pan was made for the RB20 (and therefore will fit on the '25). It's the pan that most of us are using when swapping the RB into the S30. A quick search should net you more information.

I'll be there... you can't miss me... I'll be wearing a NISMO hat!

It looks neat, but why don't they show a working version? I dunno... could be a sham.

Jon, Try McMaster-Carr. http://www.mcmaster.com McMaster is an EXCELLENT resource.

I think you're correct, Tri-Star. Air would build up in that region. Perhaps some clever ducting would better direct the air away from the large flat areas of the rad support (areas running perpendicular to the air stream) and into the radiator. I wish I was an aerodynamicist... then I would know best how to tackle this issue!
-
Assuming my understanding of aerodynamics is correct, this will also increase the amount of airflow throught the radiator/IC (if installed). Air that would previously have spilled under the car is now forced through the heat exchangers mounted in the rad support opening.
