Well I am not quit there yet, I have a 5 cylider car instead of a 6!! I found a bad injector tonight so now I need to source a new injector before I can continue with the tuning. It never is easy is it!! Oh well hopefully I can find one so that I can do some tuning before autocross this weekend!! HB280ZT

Hi All, Just an update on fan control using MS1 V3 running Extra code 29q2. I utilized the fan circuit mentioned earlier in this post and it works with the V3 board using the JS0 output. I made the circiut as shown in the extra fan control page and if you wire the relay correctly it will work. However if you mess that up then you will be rewiring and doing you circuit again as I did. Hope this helps someone out. HB280ZT

Moby, I have tried to look at several of the other msq files but for some reason they all come up with an error! I am running the Megatune 2.25. I even looked into reconfiguring my megatune but it will not let me either. Also I looked at downloading an earlier version and I could not find any. HB280ZT

Well it is running now! The problem was that I pulled a bone head and put in the wrong injectors, ie I have 2 sets with the same part number but are different impedence. So I thought I had the low impedence ones installed and they turn out to me the high impedence one, duh!!!! Oh well live and learn. now I need someone to please give me a good ve table. I am tring to get this car ready for a show on saturday so it has to run. So if someone can help me out that would be great. I am running the following: 8.5 compression ratio 460cc injectors high impedence T3/T04 turbo 15 psi intercooler That is about it for now. Now that it is running I am running like crazy to get this ready for the show so please help me out. Thanks everyone for the help. HB280ZT

Moby, I just checked the timing with a light and it is right at 10 degrees BTDC. I also ran a check on the other cylinders and I was getting a signal on each cylinder. So what is next?? HB280ZT
-
The manual gives me a headache!! I will go back and check the timing again though just to make sure. Also I just pulled the plugs and #1 is dry the rest are very wet with fuel. So that being said I think I am chasing my tail on this one! HB280ZT

OK guys, As for reading the guide I have several times, enough of that for now. Here is my new question, distributor setup: I have the dist set at 60 degrees before TDC. If just so happens to be directly over one of the holes in the CAS wheel so I do get a light when I do the dist setup. So with this setup I should get a trigger everytime the optical sensor sees an opening in the CAS?? Also I just checked that I am getting a tach signal everytime the sensor sees a hole during a full rotation of the distributor, 2 full rotations of the crank. I did this in start and run to make sure I am getting a signal and to rule out a problem with the timing. So that being said I know no that the timing is good to go. So what next?? HB280ZT

Moby, I am running RX7 low impedence 460cc injectors. As for 3.4 where are you seeing this value? I am still very new to this and I am getting a friend to help me out with this. He has been working with the MS units for several years now. also what calculator are you talking about? HB280ZT

Hi All, Well I just came across something interesting for my other car. 1996 Impala SS It runs an optical like the 82 and 83 280ZX distributor and is only running 1 coil. Well the product converts from a single coil to individual coils. http://www.bailey-eng.com/LTCC.html Bob Bailey says that he can do it for any car but not for just one unit. So if anyone is interesting in talking with him more about the unit feel free. If I get my MS working I may look into this more in the future because it sound very interesting and would be pretty cool. But I need to get my Z working first then I can do this mod to my SS. Hope this helps someone out. HB280ZT

Hi All, Well I am getting closer but it still is not running. So I have attached a Zip file that has several datalog files and my last 2 msq files. Please look and it and tell me if you all see something wrong. the car tries to start but will not run. I am running the MS1 V3 board, 29i code with some of the setup from Moby and DIY. If you all need more informtion please let me know. HB280ZT MS files.zip

Moby, Again thanks for the information. If everything works I should have the car running tomorrow night, will keep you all posted. HB280ZT

Hi All, Moby thanks for the information. Now I just have two more questions. 1 - On one of the wiring diagrams that I have it has outputs from pin#26 (TPS Vref) going through a 1K 1/4w restistor to the negitive side of the coil along with pin#36 (IGT out) Well Do I need to do this or not?? I was planning on just running S5 out to the neg side of the coil (remember I am running a relay board). 2 - for my LC1 connection I need 12v which I will get from switched power. In some of the diagrams they show power for the O2 sensor coming from the Fuel pump relay. Do I need to pull power from there for my LC1? Thanks for the help. HB280ZT

Hi All, Well I am almost there with my MS V3 unit. But now I am not sure if I have my wiring correct. So look at my list and tell me if I am missing something. Relay board: INJ 1 and 2 - to the 6 injectors, 3 each FP - to the Fuel pump S5 - to neg side of coil Vref - to red wire on TPS (will make sure wiring is not reversed) TPS - to white wire on TPS (will make sure wiring is not reversed) TPS ret - to black wire on TPS Tack VR+ - to Green/Black wire from the Dizzy MAT - to the IAT MAT ret - to the IAT CLT - to the factory Coolant temp sensor CLT ret - to engine ground ?????????? O2 - to my LC1 unit +12v injector - 3 lines to the 6 injectors (2 each) 12V bat - to the battery through a fuse Switched 12v - from under the dash Engine GND - to chassic and engine ground Dizzy wires Black/white - to 12v can I run this off of the extra +12v injector terminal??? Green/Black - to Tach VR+ on the relay box Green/yellow - not used Black - to engine ground with the shielding wire Factory chassic wiring: Blue - to the coil neg (to run the factory tach) Black/white - 12v to the coil So am I missing something or not?? Because I have seen a few diagrams that show pull up resistors in different places and some other ways to wire the MS unit other then what I have outlined up top. So any .02 would be appreciated. Thanks for the help. HB280ZT

Guys, Thanks for the information that is what I was looking for. HB280ZT

Hi All, Well I looked but could not find a diagram that shows the proper wiring of a 240SX TPS to MS V3. So how is it wired? TPS wires: Red White Black MS V3 signals from relay box: Vref TPS TPS ref So which go to which? I need this to hopefully get my car running this weekend. Thanks HB280ZT

I am putting the MS box in the stock location and the relay box is replacing the engine service light on the drivers side in front of the water bottle. Now I just need to get the car running and back on the road. HB280ZT

Mike is absolutely right! I ran part of last year without a proportioning valve in the system and I had problems with the front-end locking up. This winter I put in rear disc brakes and a proportioning valve to solve part of this problem, but I still do not have the car on the road yet. Hopefully in the next 3 weeks I will have it back on the road and I will let you all know how it all works out. I also upgraded brake fluid to ATE Super Blue Racing. It has a boiling point of 536 deg so this should solve any brake fade when I take it back to the track for fun and games this year!! HB280ZT

1Seymour, So anymore information on your install? People want to know. HB280ZT MS&S-E V3 board in work!

Z-ya, Thanks for the information. Now as for the injector wiring did you just do 1, 2, 3 on one driver and 4, 5, 6 on the other or did you do something else like follow the firing order?? Also will look at twisting the CLT, IAT and the Vref/SIG. HB280ZT

Hi All, Well I am still trying to figure out how to wire up the injectors? I will just use 2 of the 4 injector circuits and guess on which injectors to wire to which circuit. That is unless someone can point me in the right direction? thanks for the help. HB280ZT

Hi All, Well I am working on some day time running lights and I need a source for power in run only?? the problem is that on my 1977 I can not find a place to tap just power in the run postion. So if anyone has a great idea please let me know. Also one more item. I currently have the electrical torn apart so I can not just do a light test, if I could I would not be asking. Thanks HB280ZT

ezzzzzzz, I PM you the other day and was hoping you would call be back about the brake lines. I will do it again just in case it got lost in the process. HB280ZT

Hi All, Well I had all of my questions answered at a MegaSquirt Dyno day her in Virginia Beach, Va. Matter of fact there were people from all over to talk MS and to help out anyone with questions or tuning problems. Just to give everyone an example of who was there: Glen from Glens garage Philip from England, UK the guy that wrote the extra code. plus a few from DIYAutoTune So lots of experts with lots of informtion and advice passed alone. Now I just need to get my car back together then I can see how the MS unit will work. HB280ZT

Moby, I plan on running the relay board. Matter of fact I already have it on order. Any thoughts on the fuel pump wiring? I still think that 14 gauge is not enough to power a high output pump. Thanks for the help. HB280ZT

Moby, I thought it was run/start but just wanted clarification. As for running power off of a relay, how would you do that?? Battery power needs to be there all of the time so how could you put it on a relay? Switched power is just that switched battery power. So I am not sure what you are talking about here?? However, I am thinking about running switched power off of a relay that way I have a for sure 12v good current switched battery source. Now I just need help with the fuel pump wiring question. HB280ZT
