  2. sorry CLIFTON i do have a wideband and i have been data logging and tuning with the afrs. im pretty sure i mentioned i have a wideband at the end of my last post if you posted an hour ago its earlier then me and im at 645 am on the west coast hehe side scan sonar is not up to temp yet here also Matt
  3. oh and im going to weight it this weekend there is a truck scale neer my dads place... ive been reading some posts about Z car weight and i hope mine isnt one of those heavy 280z that is over 2800 we will see..
  4. some people likes some people not so much, i wouldnt go so far as to say POS it is a cool little toy and if can get you with in 5-10 hp thats pretty dam good. i think the G meter will be a good tuning tool as well with my suspention set-up. as long as i run each tune change in 3's and average it out it should do for me id just like to know if i am doing better or worse with my tunes im not looking for all out amazing top HP numbers.... well not yet So why is it a POS? what kind of bad experience did you have scottie?
  5. thats just my set-up just so yah know... im getting some 340cc injectors soon so i think ill leave the boost intill i get those. Drove it in the first rain and wow as soon as its out of vacume in 1-3rd gear she just spins. my tires are not 2 bad either... bfg radial T/A's %80 i also have a big holset hx40 to go on in the spring 2 much rain to even bother with that here for the winter but then again it could be fun ill prob end up turning the boost up to 12 and go from there if my wideband reads ok ill keep going . can always just drive around in vacume intill im in 4th or 5th haha
  6. i made some ... cool vents with some metal i found, i had the turbo scoops in but they never looked right to me still need to take a better hood shot but you get the idea, when my electric fan comes on allot of air moves out of the vents and gets very warm but the hood around it is allot more cooler
  7. yeah i take it all with a grain of salt but it is fun to get some idea of what is going on and if its getting better there is also a section in the mega log view that has a hp calculator not sure how well it works but im going to try that one 2
  8. ive made my own map ... i started with metro's then tuned from there. Id like to go to EDIS but maybe not till next summer, need to start collecting the parts
  9. did 2 runs with it today first one was 160 hp ha well i had it set to light 2800lbs 2nd run was 198hp set at 3200 it may be heavier because i would think its making more power then that but then again that with drive train loss i think my et was 15.50 but i rolled into first did not dump the clutch and i ran a 98mph i didnt red line it in each gear because the engine seamed to run out of stream around 5500rpm if i really knew how much it weighed i could get a better idea of whats going on next time ill go to the truck scale before i do my runs im running the stock T3 with 7psi stock injectors @ 40psi 3" exaust big azz intercooler and a megasquirt and spark the engine is a 81 turbo and im running the 78 5spd
  10. i did it in a big parking lot on top of a mountain not sure how big the circle was maybe 50-60 feet it had a little hill very slight tho there was a 350z taking up the nice spot doing dounuts with his 19" rubber money 2 burn ha
  11. i have had this Gtech for about 3 years and never had the chance to really use it. Now that my car is on the road have have some test data my setup is: 14x8 toyota supra wheels -225 60 14 on the dunlap's front 28psi -235 60 14 on the bfg radial t/a's back 30psi -Poly suspention bushings all around exept the lower control are under the rear hub " a can of worms i have yet to open" -tokico 5 way's set to 5 -cosmo coil overs not sure the spring rate they siad its 440lbs all around but they do not feel that hard -stock sway bars -2x2 frame rails, 2x2 lower rad support well the Gtech told me 1.00 G's turning left .98 G's turning right Im not sure how close this thing is but it seams a little 2 good to be true has anyone else made any runs with the Gtech? If that is a close reading im pretty happy with the tune so far. I still need strut tower braces and camber plates would be nice but not bad for the first test
  12. thats the sound my engine makes when i start up it cranks then something hits really hard and it barley cranks then it starts its like all the power from the starter goes somewhere else like the ignition maybe. but it is very anoying and it makes my cool turbo Z sound like a crappy car on start up just wondering how i can tune it out
  13. ok thats ok just wanted to be safe but want to get the most of what i got for now. i think my fuel pressure is about 40psi stock 10 psi would be nice since i only have about 6-7 right now prob put a good tune on it tomorrow and go from there if i wanted to go any higher with the stock injectors what would i need the fuel pressure to be @?
  14. ok i got my car back on the road this week and was wondering how much boost i can run. Here are my mods: - big azz front mount intercooler - Mega squirt - BOV - 60mm 240sx throttle body - 3inch exaust - ARP head studs the turbo is stock and im running the 81 stock turbo motor with stock turbo injectors its hitting about 7psi right now just wondering what i can safely run with the stock fuel system i was thinking about 10psi maybe 12 anyone do higher with the stock stuff?
  15. hey monkeyt88 love your work bench haha does that thing have a roof on it it looks rely close to the wall
  16. just move them forward to continue the rain channel over them i think that would solve allot if any rain problems
  17. i got some raybestus pads no prob just went to a larger autoparts chain i dont think im going to go to that one i always go to they were so grumpy and couldnt be bothered with me. and i always go there. the "Lordco" was so cool the guy ran to the back to make sure they were there since it only showed one in stock. price was about the same 2 but i got the pads and they fit very easy room to spare pumped the e-brake a couple times and it was good to go cant wait to take it out for a drive
  18. wow so its true haha i have never ran into or heard of a caliper that screws in and ive been working on cars since i was a pup thanks allot guys now i just need to find some pads
  19. did a google search and "zcar.com" had a post about screwing the pot on the caliper in to get more clearence..... anyone had any experience with this?
  20. i tried without the inlet line on the caliper all it seams to do is move the housing from side to side are there 2 pistons in this caliper the back one seams to be the parking brake ill try that tomor i just hope i can find some pads my parts store says they cant get them
  21. i have a 1978 280z and did the 280zx turbo rear disk swap everything was going swimmingly till i tried to get new brake pads and good luck getting them in if i do find them. the problem is "more so on the drivers side" there is no way ill be able to get new pads to fit in the caliper. i barley got the passenger ones in with Used pads... very used but then again i dont know how thick the new ones would be cant be more then 4mm anyways its there a better way to get these things compressed? ive been prying on them but what seams to happen is the whole thing slides and i can only get room for one side or the other the piston does not want to depress all the way it looks like its open on both sides is it a free floating caliper?
  22. well ive been hunting down my brake problem "very soft "but braking" then rock hard and if i push on it it locks" problem. so i started by getting the back brake's tightened up a bit the left was ok needed a little tightening the right was very loose and when i took the drum off "stock new brakes" it was very hard to get off and when i did get it off the rear pad was yellowish.... not sure why the front looked normal anyways i tightend it up a bit a little 2 tight but i couldnt back it off since i didnt have the right tool ok so when i drive forward its easier but when i go in reverse it like having the brakes on i noticed this before when i first put in the brakes then it kinda went away did i over heat the rear pad?? did i install something wrong? i put new wheel cylinder, lines, pads when i did the brakes thanks Matt
  23. thanks i like what you did with those little pocket block offs up front ill prob be doing that in the near future the way i mounted it was because thats the way it fits the best i hope it gives me good cooling, it was allot of fun doing my first major part installs and fab next the frame rails hehe i did my first warm up test with the new fan and rad just idle and a bit of reving works very well we will see when it get a little hotter i love how on one side of the intercooler is warm and the other is still col "air temp" cant wait to take he for the first spin with the intercooler
  24. ok im done all the pipe i went through 3 - 2 1/2" U bends and a calidascope of cutting disks . I could prob make it allot faster now that i dont have to make it again ha anyways here are some pics i was going with the hot side into the intercooler at the begining but i didnt like that set up so i went for this way so the cold air has a straight shot into the intake and i think this looks better enjoy Matt
