  1. well if that is the problem then allot of guys upgrade to the later model 82-83 distributor that has the CAS in the dizzy do a search for 83 dizzy should set you in the right direction i have an 81 as well and had nothing but problems im going to go megasquirt and be done with all the old stuff go through your wirering and make sure everything connected right these old cars have old wirering and can be tricky
  2. im pretty sure your way off that is the pick-up for the ignition when the little nubs on the chopper wheel go by it tells the computer where to put the spark it has nothing to do with the injectors, its all for ignition control i think your blinker fluid might be low JK hehe
  3. ahh so it vents not pulls in air... hmmm ive thought of closing off the back with some lexan that might be fun haha
  4. whats a crank position sensor? do they mean the CAS crank angle sensor? or are they telling you the muffler bearing is gone too have you greased your muffler bearings?
  5. i got that chop saw green one right ive cut allot of stuff and it never blew a breaker and my shop is on my dads house breaker and always goes.... well it might have went once when im running a few things but not a bad saw from time to time im sure it wouldnt hold up to allot of abuse. from time to time its gold and i got a angle grinder with it for free

  7. i bought a band saw... not a very staight cut, it likes to walk out i also got a cheap chop saw i think it was like 50-80 buck and it came with an angle grinder got that from Princess auto i think that works the best on the cheap it has a clamp built in and it cuts straight and true
  8. i just ordered it the other day from DIY Matt Cramer has already contacted me and asked what my setup is like im running the 81 280zx turbo motor and was wondering what the crank pick-up was Optical...magnetic.. im not sure but im sure my MS will run better if i have this info ive read that the 81 CAS will work with 82-83 ECU's so i guess its the same signal.. so excited to get squirting :Matt

  13. is that so? why is there 2 water temp wires and sensors? theni guess my ecu is fried or something all the connections are good in the harness i dont have a clue what it could be my harness looks nice and clean now after going threw it all 2 bad i cant use it

  15. well i went through my wirering yesterday and made sure all the wires had continuity... they al do BUT the water temp sensor wire wasnt hooked up it was cut for some reason hmmm could that be what was giving me my troubles? I have a 81 turbo set-up and it would run ok but i could not get it to make any power it would bog down and die. ill know this week if it works and ill have a fat burnout vid for you guys to enjoy should have done this from the start but i guess ill know what to do next time...   18. hmm then what would make it run ok then keep getting worse? it never made power but ive gotten it to rev well once the load is on it boggs down so you dont think its the ignitor? how about the air temp sensor in the AFM? i unplugged that and it did nothing diff from what its been doing
  19. well im not running the Mega Squirt but i put a new coil in it befor and not much change maybe the ignitor finaly gave up enuf just to idle but not give power.... does that sound right?
  20. these are the only things i have not changed or found to be working or not. well no matter what i do i cant get this thing to make power under any load at all. i can mess with the chopper wheel and get it to rev fine, a little rich but fine enuf to rev good and hard. As soon as i put some load on it the thing sputters down and stalls out, the funny thing is i had it running and driving around town. It never had lots of power kinda ran like crap but it worked better than now Now its just spits and pops and runs like crap under anyload im rambling on so anything come to mind with this problem it runs very rich the whole time also when i unplug the CHTS the car dies so i figure it works.... im about a second away from dropping it off at a shop and taking it in the rear
  21. sounds good to me so i dont even need them so the O2 sensor should clear up my problems i might change the air temp sensor in the AFM just for fun befor i start it up and foul my new O2 matt
  22. well from the sounds of it i dont need either i have an autometer water temp so i guess the long and short of it is i dont need the water temp sensors... is this right? there isnt any othere clips or wires for water temp for the ECU so does the ECU use any water temp sensors????? its sounding like no and maybe it was my O2 not working that was making it run rich maybe my air temp sensor in my AFM i think ill chang that 2
  23. well its the harness from the turbo ecu well i guess its a 50/50 anyways i guess all i want to know for sure is if one of these wire IS for the ecu i think it is but i guess i really dont know for sure unless i pull all the covering off my harrness all together ill prob end up doing that anyways since i want this to be the last thing ill do to make it run
  24. There are 2 wires for Water temp. one is yellow the other is white i have a 81 turbo harness and motor and these are the last things i have to figure out. Does the yellow or white wire go to the water sensor? and does the water sensor help with the fuel injection? some say no some say yes i think it might i just want to know if its the yellow or white i dont really fal like cutting my whole harnes open, i dont see any white wires on the ECU so it must be the yellow right? matt
  25. well im going to buy a new sender or sensor i have a autometer water temp gauge so i dont need the stock sensor so do i need to buy a new sender or sensor? or does it matter? do they give out the same ohm reading? im going to get new O2 and water senser this week i hope i can get my Z on the road with my bike im shooting for the 1st thnks again mario
