    71 Datsun V8 power

Jay, you are certainly doing some nice things to the Z. Nice to see true craftsmanship. Can't wait to see the finished (well, as finished as these projects go anyway) car!
  2. Halloween Z, Put the idea out of your head! The little cruiser bike is designed for a 150cc engine! If you stuff anything into it with more than 15 HP you will certainly overstress everything else. If you go about modifying it to accept bigger HP, you will wind up spending alot of time and money. Just save your cash and when the time comes you can step up to a motorcycle
  3. I would say, based on your statement, that lower gears would be the ticket for you. Example...4.11 gearing will allow a car to accelerate faster than 3.90 gearing given that everything else remains the same. It's the basic laws of physics coming into play.
  4. An X-military buddy of mine told me they call this situation a "Slamfire". He said guys with experience always stand to the side because this situation does occur from time to time. Certainly the breach block hit this guy first as a casing exits just before full recoil travel. Ouch for sure. Doesn't appear to be american troops though.
  5. ASA240Z, first do as auxilary suggests then do what Clifton suggests. When you do replace the studs, go with stainless steel studs and use anti-seize when installing them. ARP can set you up with a set...and their products are as good as they get.
  6. Interesting device however, I don't think it even comes close to the capabilities of a rotisserie when doing a full-on restoration. As mentioned earlier, the device attaches to the suspension and appears to me to be some strange attempt at selling a wiggit with very limited use! People will buy just about anything! Just one man's opinion!
  7. I don't think it matters if your engine is naturally aspirated or has forced induction, on what gearing is better or not. I think appropriate gearing is a matter of how you intend to drive your car! JMO.
  8. Hey, it's ARRRRRMY training. Safety first, you know! John, where do you find this stuff?
  9. Tim, I know you are more than capable of turning any car into something nice...given the right amount of $$$ and time, but why this piece of dodo. There is a saying that goes like this......"Friends don't let friends buy junk".
  10. Looks to me like someones nightmare and a future owners endless money pit. "Front end is like a 67 vette (NOT) and the rear is like a 74 vette (NOT)!!!!" Looks exactly like a hacked up Z car to me. Beyond the sad looking exterior, it appears to be a stock Z. Maybe if the guy reduced his price to $500.00 he might get some takers. P.S. Tim are you feeling well?
  11. Wecome to HYBRIDZ! One of the first things you need to do is learn to search the archives, as just about any question you have has been addressed in the past. There is a ton of info here if you spend the time to look. Good hunting and again, welcome to HYBRIDZ
  12. Ah come on....isn't it pretty amazing that a young blonde (as pictured) could even drive a stick shift. RE: blonde shifting - Uhmmmmmm, let's see....what comes after first!!?
  13. How fast was she or he going.........WTFF!!!!
  14. Grumpy, I just looked at your new garage post.....I guess that rules out kicking in the walls.
  15. Getting ripped of always sucks, but at least you won't have to polish the lips or repaint. Funny how things work out sometimes. New wheels at the cost of a little patients....not a bad deal!
  16. Medeco is certainly on the upper end of the lock food chain. Their Bi-Axial series cylinders are one of the few cylinder designs that are as close to pick proof as I've seen or tested. One thing to bear in mind....security is like a chain, its only as good as the weakest link! Basically, one could install the best possible security door in their garage, but with the standard wall construction used to build homes...a knowledgible intruder would just kick a hole in the wall and not even mess with the secure door. I still like the reactive armor idea.....!
  17. DOT 5 fluid may not absorb moisture but this does not stop moisture from getting into a brake system. With the DOT 5, moisture will pool in the low areas and cause the corrosion there. Also, DOT 5 has a less than desirable expansion rate than the DOT 3, 4, and 5.1 fluids. It's common knowledge that DOT 5 is good for non-performance type cars, like vintage restorations and commercial trucks (the military uses this stuff in their trucks). I don't believe you will see DOT 5 used in any race car applications due to it's expansion rate. One good thing about DOT 5 brake fluid...it won't eat paint.
  18. Grumpy, are the security hinges you are using have the interlocking pins? One thing you may consider is to fill the inside of the door frame with concrete grout. This is a common practice that is done on security doors. It prevents prying the door fame away from the door. Is your door an inswinging or outswinging door? If all else fails.....reactive armor on the exterior of the door will like do the job! What brand of deadbolt lock are you planning on using? More info would be helpful.

    Car Sex

My guess at what happened.....the bimbo driving the F150 was totally consumed in a conversation on her cell phone with her boyfriend. The funniest part is, this is her home, her husband's Ferrari, and the oh so familiar steeply angled driveway! Duhhh!!!
  20. All I will say is three words......workhardening and failure!!!
  21. I think it made itself God, based souly on its performance. Due to emisson laws, we in the USA never got them. Do a little research on the car and you will discover why it is what it is! Pretty friggin awesome car...and in stock form! Do some upgrades and you can end up with a monster.
