  1. My understanding of drifting, as exhibited by the younger crowd, is it was started by a bunch of young Japanesse guys who wanted to race but really had no access to a track...so they found large enough parking lots to do their deed. Personally, I think its just another addition to the motorsports world...just like another flavor of icecream. Some will like it and some will not. Bottom line is....if the drifters are having fun and are safe, then its a good thing. If people think it has anything to do with roadracing or autocrossing, they are soarly mistaken! I do believe drifting takes talent but its not the quickest way around around a track, its a style thing..."How good do I look"?
  2. Sure........but only at a 50% interest rate!!! Can you qualify for that?
  3. I watched the video on the drifting....certainly not the fast way around a track!!!! Enjoyable to watch however!
  4. Just curious! What leads you to believe a low pressure fuel pump does not require the same gavity feed as a high pressure fuel pump? In your case, can you adapt an in-tank high pressure fuel pump as used in newer FI cars?
  5. Maybe a little expensive........EDM will certainly do the job!
  6. Well, it's certainly a money maker!!! For some, anyway. Sheople, run for your lives, the boogie man is goin to get you! And they run! I can't wait till the poop hits the fan. Are you ready!
  7. You know how these bureaucrats are...their heads have been stuffed up their a_ _es so long, they have forgotten what daylight is!!!
  8. No, I don't think so....two different animals.
  9. Isn't that special!? A German American hybrid that's as tasteless as boiled water!!! Sure would confuse a cop......sees a beemer coming at him, turns around to take chase, and sees a friggin ricer mustang! Where did the beemer go???
  10. Isn't that a 240 Zeasourous.....didn't Fred Flintstone have one of those, or was it Wilma's?
  11. You will want to measure the axle length at a position where the axle would be perpendicular to the differential. The perpendicular position will be the shortest the axle will get while driving (axle splines will be compressed). Some additional clearance (less then measured shortest axle length) will be required to prevent binding (splines bottoming out). Are you begining to see whats going on here how?
  12. Just let the kid live with his lack of understanding. Duuuuh! If he can't figure it out on his own, you will certainly never convince this genius!!! Besides, it's all black magic anyway....isn't it?
  13. Aaron, I don't mean this to be rude, but you are an aircraft mechanic, you took the measurements, and you don't think they will work......what other info do you need? It's all pretty simple to calculate what will and what will not fit without rubbing. Tape measures don't lie. Shoot, you could always make a profile of the tire/wheel out of thin plywood, mount it, and check for clearance issues.
  14. Boy, those are some interesting looking adjustable rear LCA's you have there!
  15. Just some food for thought! Older engines will form a very thin layer of corrosion (visually not to apparent, except for the rust color) on the coolant passages. This thin corrosion layer does not look like anything that needs attention, but it does act as an insulation barrier and reduces the heat transfer from engine to coolant fluid. A good coolant system flush is always a good idea to remove this thin layer of corrosion.
  16. Since you haven't stated what year your Z is, I'll assume its a series I or II. On my conversion (actually its Terry Oxandales recomended conversion) I have 280ZX front calipers over turned down 300ZX vented rotors, a 15/16" MC, 280ZXT rear calipers over 280ZX rotors. The proportioning valve at the rear of the car (on early Zs and under the bonnet on later models)...I simply removed the internals from it. So now the old proportioning valve acts as just a T in the line. The brake bias is just fine for a street car.
  17. If you don't stop eating at McDonalds, you won't have to worry about dying from a bullet!!

    Cancer Info

Interesting bit of info! On the lighter side.....I wonder if one were to infect a rusty (cancer) old Z car, the virus would kill all the rust? Sure would beat a trip to the media blaster!
  19. I'm with John.....I thought the idea behind multi-plate clutches was to reduce rotating mass, hence their small diameter.
  20. Ah, come on.....you mean to tell me the custom car world doesn't revolve around Boyd Coddington!!? One day the A-hole is going to croak from a seizure on national TV....can't wait! Do you think Boyd is a bit envious of Chip?
  21. How about this! Why don't parents just take the time to educate their kids a little about having self esteem and confidence in themselves....that is of course considering that the parents have it themselves!!! Maybe this program should be directed at the parents. Just remember, sheople breed quicker than leaders do! Friggin sissies! I'm stopping right here before I get all wound up about these walking illiterates.
  22. If you know the diameter of the old springs and the diameter of the coilover springs, subtract the difference and divide by two. This will give you the answer. If I remember correctly I gained approximately 5/8" additional clearance on my 240, when I changed to a coilover setup.
