first off, not looking to get the 'use the search function' book thrown at me. (because i went through every last post i could find about this) PLEASE correct me if i'm wrong (on anything).. ok, i've been looking at upgrading the suspension on my car.. i finally decided that i would get the following: tokico hp shocks (already purchased.) eibach pro-kit springs energy suspension master bushing kit (set on it) sway bars (set on it) strut tower bars (set on it) the goal as far as suspension goes is to have a fairly tight, good handling setup.. reguardless of harshness, noise, etc. (preparing for a turbo swap, and i'm just tryin to do things in the right order.. no use in putting 300hp in a car that can't handle it ) anyway, this is where i've run into problems.. i started looking at rims, and so i decided it was about time i ran through this section looking for what offset, backspacing, etc. that i need to look for. none of the rims i like seem to match the specifications that the Z requires (4x4.5" - 114.3mm, 0mm offset, 4" backspacing). also, as i understand.. most rims larger than 16x7.5, will rub on the spring/shock setup (ie.. not coilovers). now basically what i'm trying to figure out, is exactly what i should do. all i'm worried about right now is suspension and rims (maybe brakes too). i basically want a 'not so god aweful expensive' setup, like what arizonaZ sells. if i need to go the coilover route to fit larger tires/rims, can i use the tokico hp shocks i already bought? and if so, whats probably the best coilover package i can get? as far as rims go, i do NOT want to use a spacer, i'd rather convert to 5-lug. the problem with 5-lug is, everything i see is 240,260,280z conversions.. i really don't see anything definative for the 280zx (if you can point me at one i'd appretiate it). this all seems like one big runon (thats cause it is in my head lol -- sorry) but basically i'm tryin to find out if i should go the coilover route, and if so.. can i use my tokico hps? then, if i do that.. should i go ahead and convert to a 5-lug hub? if so, what does this consist of.. and where would i start? or should i just plain stick with my original plan and just try to locate some rims that'll fit my car & taste? basically just looking for opinions from you guys, i really wanna do this right and not buy useless stuff that will end up screwing me in the end

my car did that, ended up letting it sit a few days, eventually it worked itself out. i replaced the fuel filter, some relays, even bought a walbro pump.. (never installed it).. and i had to use like start fluid just to get it started. the sob would be so hard to start, and once you got it started if you didnt keep revving above 4k it'd instantly stumble and die. not too sure what ended up solving the problem =/ oh ya (looked at my old posts).. it ended up being a fusable link problem i believe

i'm looking for someone who can weld some brackets onto my radiator.. ive had the damn thing for a month+ and can't find anyone who can do it. i already have the brackets made and everything, only need two small 4" long ones welded onto the top and bottom of the rad. simple and easy. ill come to you and even shell out some cash, i havnt been able to drive my Z and its finally getting to me. if anyone is willin to help me out, please reply/pm.. or suggest a place i can go that will do it. thanks -jon

ive got a haynes sittin here in my lap and it has a completely diff hazard button than your car does.. so i have like no damn clue at all.. the one they have just has 4 little clips, and all you do is push it out from the back. wish i had the info you needed but the damn book only shows 1 kind of switch =( hope someone replies that can help you.

lemmy know if you get it to fit nicely, i'd kinda like to do the same as far as the a/c controls, its all vaccum (sp?) stuff, try howstuffworks.com and i think the rest would be trial and error =) or even use the stock controls from the 280, and just do some fabbing to make it fit/look new. latez

<hijack> - sorry! haha, i got a strange one for you.. my brights tend to come on everytime i hit a bump.. (even when the switch is pulled back). on top of that, if i turn them on, it'll stay on, but when i turn the switch off.. they'll stay on. anyone else experienced this? loose connection? somethin broken? or what? lol =|

come to think of it... lol well, mine do that.. its really buggy though, and doesn't always work.. sometimes i can turn the key in the door twice and itll unlock both doors.. i guess i was thinking more along the lines of pushing a button =P

lmao, you guys don't even know the half of it... the new seats are AWESOME =D anywho, the old seats were put in there by this fruit who was 'fixing the car up' (haha right.) the fruit that put in the jacked up seats, cut the rail where the drivers seat mounts in the front.. so it only has 3 bolts on it =( that and just to angle the drivers seat he took a meter stick and broke it into pieces and stuck it under the seat rails =| WOW, what a MESS! rb, i just found them in a 300zx, just sitting there waiting for me =P amazing thing is, no t-tops on the car or anything.. somehow they were still in great shape. yay =)

yah, the power windows look to be fairly simple bolt in.. and no i don't believe they offered power door locks. however you can go on ebay and buy power door lock acuators (sp?)..

i was at the junkyard with my buddy today, we went to look for a tarus fan and a 60mm tb for his 300zx. so anywho, i was looking around at some z31s just cos, and i saw this awesome pair of seats! so i thought, damn i'd pay 100+$ for those. *goes and asks junkyard guy* -- 25$ each. woot NEW: OLD: (more pics @ http://www.untraceable.org/z/seats/) my first junkyard break! =) woot

i had a very bad problem with my fusible links on my 280zx.. but thats a bit diff from yours (how im not sure.. lol). anyway, i kinda ghetto-d mine.. i bought several female 60amp fuses and then broke apart my fusable link box and took out the metal prongs, and just shoved them up into the fuses. then i took some spade connectors and 10 ga wire, and popped those in the other side. as far as figuring out what ones go where... i have the wiring diagram for it but i cant tell wtf the stuff goes. best thing i can tell you to do is take the box you have, then find a picture of the cap that goes ontop of it.. and just kinda position it so that you can figure it out. wish i could help you more but bleh.. i cant read this damn diagram =|

well, unfortunately i work a job where i don't make JACK, otherwise i'd grab it off of you. i'm really only researching and kinda putting a spreadsheet together of what parts i want and where they'd be coming from. its too bad i can't even afford to get my radiator spot welded into the 280 atm =| damn, i need a better job lol..

ok, this may be an extremely stupid question, so i'll apologize now. but i've been looking around and i notice that 90% of the turbo motors on hybridZ, have a custom intake manifold with tb on them. WHO makes this? or did everyone just fab the same thing? lol this has been killing me and the search function is a p.o.s. thanks, jon

you see the little thing coming out the red/black wires..? thats what it didn't come with. however we found a company around here, in garland i think. but anyway, it was like 3$ so no biggie. thanks for the pictures though they'll be very useful for when we get ready to do it i appretiate it man, sorry for takin so long to reply =P

yeah, i'm looking for some nice mirrors, from whatever car.. i just don't like the fov i get from the stock mirrors and what not.. know of anything larger than the 280zx ones? =| thanks -j
