The vents are from a mid 80s camaro z28, they were mounted up high on the fender in the camaro. I mounted them from the back so the are flush with the fender. Custom! -
My hood was crushed at MSA, god #$@% it!!

Thats the truth! After the cop showed up we were going to move out of traffic to a near by lot to exchange info, I waited almost a minute for the guy to move, he had his flashers, hasards, windshield wipers going but did not move. The cop gets out of his car and tells him lets go move off to the side, then I hear the car start, ya it helps if you turn it on! -
I had just left the Toro air force base after having given my car a proper thrashing at the autocross (great time!) when Im stopped at a light and I look up from my stereo and the guy in front of me is in reverse and about 3ft away, I hit my horn but he does not stop and crushed the nose of my poor shark! Ya so I had to go to the show the next day looking like my car had been punched in the nose. What the F. Where the F were you going? " Im sorry I should have looked where I was going". Well ya your doing an illegal manover at a busy intersection. What a dumb ***. The guy was like 80 years old and did not have any teeth to knock out so I just filed a police report and his info. This sucks!

The housing is stock but I believe the turbine is upgraded. Check out Jim Wolf technologies if you want to know the specifics. I bought it 4 years ago and did not care back then what the AR's were, now I'm kinda curious.

That sounds like the new VW comercials with "My fast" guy taking to you from the back seat. Have you guys seen these, they are great. They all have this evil looking black troll like thing either in the back seat or passengers seat, the girl wants the windows roled up and "my Fast" says WINDOWS DOWN! WINDOWS DOWN! The guys says to the girl " I can't hear the engine with all that yakity yak." I want one of those "my fast" guys, my wife tried to find one but they don't make them, just a shirt for $20.

You know your a gear head when you have a urial installed in your garage, your garage stereo and TV is better than the living room equipment. Yup! I learned the hard way that fiberglasss resin will make you sick as a dog, jaundic, and have liver failure, if you don't use gloves.

I don't know why when I pulled timing it had a significant improvement on the curve above 5200. At 20 it dropped off alot after 5200 and at 18 it stayed flat till over 6000. I'm surprised it so rich since last time I dynoed it was much leaner and I only made 275 hp
-
After finding problems with 2 of my injectors I took my cat to the dyno and finally got some more respectable #s. I still think there is more power to be found, I'm just not sure where to look. I think my AFR are good, changing my timing from 20 to 18 really helped my power above 5200 rpm. I don't know if I can take more timing out or if I should up the fp, or leave the fp and try more boost. I think it is running good enough that I could up the boost but with a felpro HG and stock head bolts that might not be such a good idea. What do you think? This was at 18psi.

Would nitrous help a turbo l28 get off the line faster?
datsunan replied to Thumper's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
If they can do a burn in the box then they have enough power to burn at launch. Its all about what rpm you launch at and how fast you dump the clutch. My 2c is that with lots of practic you could find a sweet spot in the lower rpm range where your turbo is not spooled producing the hp that the nitro could help out with. Longer usable hp curve must = faster 60ft times, no? -
The inj are bosch 420cc, I turned them over and taped them on my work bench with a peace of white paper under them so I could see what came out. Then I blew them out with high pressure air. I run 42 psi static with 1/1 for each psi of boost, 18psi+42= 60 max. I think the pump is a Warboro or similar.

I would like two please, I'll make a hat with one and put one on the front of my Dastsun Dixies jacket. Thanks again for doing this for us!

I thought I would post this for anyone who has a hesitation problem that they can not figure out. I have had a hesitation and power loss problem as well as some detonation issues that have plagued my Z for some time now. It started when I upgraded my clutch and flywheel and installed a new fuel line while I had the trans out. After doing so I had the car dynoed and the hp went down and my hp line was very erratic. I tried everything I could to solve the problem, some things I did twice, removed msd changed coil, wire, plugs, fuel fiter, cap, rotor, cleaned connections on ecu and then some. The only thing that I thought worked was when I removed the injectors and rigged up a bench to test them. i used a 9 volt bat and an extra pump and fuel rail, I ran water through them and test fired all, finding one that did not fire straight. Cleaned out a peace of teflon tape and it fired good. put it all together and tested it out, YES!! I got it, but alas the next day it was the same old shiot. I have been in the middle of remodling my house and not had the time to spend on this PTA car so I just drove it as is. This sucks! but the more I thought about it I still thought that it was a fuel issue, after trying even more tricks and getting no where I decided to try leaving the fuel rail on the car and just unbolt the injectors and rotate them and the rail, then I used the 9v again. this time I had two inj that shot the fuel like a water pistol, they had no atomization. I found some very small peaces of dirt that was causing a poor spray patern. The car runs great now and does not even have the detonation that has plagued it for more than a year now. Just thought I would post my experience i the hopes of sparing some poor bastard the trouble I went through to find this problem

Why bother screwing with the timing if you suspect your injectors are not firing. They may be clogged with rust. I would start with the obvious.

I passed a cop unknowingly the other night, he was going the opposite direction on a frontage road, I did not see him and blasted from the stop sign past him onto the freeway ramp doing 80 mph. Long on ramp, by the time I got to the bottom I saw headlights behind me ( I always check my rear view when getting on the freeway) they were coming up fast. I proceeded to do slightly above the speed limit as the lights gained on me. I thought it might be a cop so I stayed at what I thought was 65-70 for a few min. befor the red and blues came on. The first thing he asked me was if I saw him on the frontage road, I said no, he said I pulled you over for speeding and I said "on the freeway?" He said he clocked me at 80mph on the freeway and that he thought I saw him on the frontage road and took off at a high rate of speed down the on ramp. I told him I liked the corner on the ramp and that my speedo was not accurate dew to the larger tires and modified tranny and such. He gave me a warning and gave me a $10 ticket for no current insurance card. I could not believe it! Never asked to see under the hood, or get out of the car. My reg I gave him was not current either. I don't know how I got so lucky but I bet it won't happen again.

There should be a check valve in the vac line to the booster. If that failed it could cause problems. i don't know if thats what is going on with yours but its worth checking. Its mounted to the top of the firewall in the engine compartment above the booster. could be that your booster diaphram is blown out also, I think thats more likely. Try disconnecting the vac line and plug it. try blowing into the vac booster, does it build pressure or does it just bleed out, you should build pressure if the diaphram is still good.

My fuell cell installation, can I install it the other way?
datsunan replied to pjo046's topic in Fuel Delivery
It must depend on what cell your using cause mine starved all the time under hard acceleration, anything less than 1/2 a tank. The foam in the tank is not like a sponge more like very fine swiss cheese, it will not limit movement to much. I had my alum. cell from summitt mounted pick up foward and had staving problems on accel., turned it around and had problems on braking. I had to install a surge tank and extra pump. I dont think the tank your getting has a blader, not all cells have them so you might want to check that if that is what you want. If its a inexspensive cell it most likely does not have a blader.
