  2. 575 on an L? that seems really high, especially if it's a 3.2.... i've heard that the thin cylinder walls from boring the block out that much make forced induction unfeaseible (sp)....
  3. i can't believe how idiotic those guys acted. plus the fact that mods were talkin s**t too....
  4. ya, i figured that the CA seller was the legit one. thx i hate scammers. they target enthusiasts like us to do their dirty work. too bad it's not REALLy 3500 shipped tho *EDIT - is it me, or do i perpetually have 42 posts?
  5. all of the speculation came from classiczcars.com; that's where i am frequently.... here's the post: http://classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24372&highlight=ebay
  6. ah yes, the infamous Z that has been posted for sale in VA and CA?
  7. ^ i understand about GMAW; AAMOF i'm planning on getting a MIG-capable arc welder myself (after xmas, of course ). it just seemed kind of odd to have "gasless" and "MIG" right next to each other, since true MIG has a shielding gas. although i think i know what he meant: MIG (arc) vs. TIG (oxy-acetylene)
  8. the old oil isn't harming anything; it's just there to slow the rise of the piston inside the carb. FWIW i've always used 20W oil (or in a pinch 10W30), but i don't recommend ATF. haven't had much experience with MMO tho.
  9. ztherapy.com has some very useful vids on SUs. good purchase.
  10. gasless MIG? doesn't the IG in MIG stand for "inert gas"?
  11. exactly what i was thinking. he's a great guy and also here in sunny SoCal: http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=932
  12. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Lamborghini-Lamborghini-Diablo-1992-Lamborghini-Diablo-Drivetrain-Engine-Transmission_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6290QQihZ005QQitemZ150072715448QQrdZ1 it's at 16.5K right now..... *wink wink*
  13. ^^ya that did bewilder me for a moment.... anyway, it does kind of depent on what you want to do with your car. if you want to drag race it, then you are going to want to go balls to the wall and go for either a turbo swap or a full set up. if you want to do SCCA or ITS, you need to see what you can get away with. i am in a similar situation as you and i am just going to be building an N47 L28 (ripping out the exhaust sleeves) with slightly domed pistons, cam, 6-1 header to 2.5 and SUs. that's fine for me. if you want more power, i suggest checking out a 3.0 or 3.1 set up..... just my $.02
  14. i wasn't thinking "with the maxima bracket".... okay, i was wrong
  15. ya, i was expecting to spend around $200 for them. unfortunately i'm not that skilled at welding, so manufacturing my own would be a little difficult! oh well, everything has it's cost.
  16. damn floorpans! there was i website that i went to that had replacement floorpan sheetmetal... i'll try and find a link for it *edit... it's http://www.showcars-bodyparts.com check out www.showcars-bodyparts.com/240zfloors3b.html[/img]
  17. have you checked HRE? they look like those or some rims they have on GT3..
  18. thought about reviving an old post... i have that same problem. are your carbs tuned perfectly? check your choke levels as well.... also, make sure that your carb damper oil is topped off.. some say 20W is the best. i'm running 30W and it's too thick, but i've been diluting it with 10W-30. also, make sure you don't have any vacuum leaks.
  19. pretty nice! i prefer the stock lines of the car, but i can appreciate something that nice... uncanny how similar those 2 cars look!
  20. if you haven't already checked out this site, it's really good handy dandy denny's reference http://www.kaynor.net/v8-240z/240z.htm
  21. hey, i posted this in the classifieds but to no avail.. i have a 3.7 R200 w/ halfshafts that i want to trade for a 3.7-4.11 R180.... if anyone has any suggestions, hit me up!
  22. another idea may be to find some custom pistons that have a higher wrist pin so as to lower the piston in respect to the top of the deck
