  2. Tim, What's that book you had? "How to wire your hotrod" ? That may be of some help for people contemplating this. The kit WAS painless for me though, just expensive. All in all, spending $20 on a book to help you decide whether you can do it is a good idea. The JTR book won't tell you anything. Owen
  3. I too have the 18 circuit kit, was like $225 at Summit a long time ago. Some engineer-types have said it's a waste of money, but to a non-engineer like me, it was well worth it. It comes with basic instructions, this wire is positive to the headlite, this wire is positive to the parking lite, etc. It doesn't tell you how to connect to the Datsun stuff. You need a stock wiring diagram (good luck with it!) to find out which wires to keep and which to pull. Owen
  4. That looks sweet Rick. Any more pix of the cage and frame? I'd like to see what you did in the rear of the car. Owen
  5. Cool! A stripper! Oh. no wait, a speaker....I guess that'd be cool too. Owen
  6. Yeah, not everyone makes it, tho last time we had quite a few new members show up. When's the next gathering? Owen
  7. ha ha! reminds me of my pickle fork, damn thing bent the prongs in opposite directions first time I used it! Still, I find myself strangely attracted to their ads every week and find myself in their stores without really remembering how I got there.... Owen
  8. Yeah, people who've used the Harbor Freight unit please let us know. Does it really suck that bad? They're cheap enough that I could get one on my own without splitting it, but if it's crap then I won't get one at all. Anyone ever done or know anyone who's the DIY bender? Really all you'd need is a torch, some sand that doesn't have any moisture in it, and a jig and you could bend your own. Owen
  9. Damn, the HF bender sux huh? I'm poor enough already, even with splitting the cost with other people! Owen
  10. Matt (HBSKINHEAD) and I are supposed to chip in on the Harbor Freight bender, but it's the one that only goes up to 2.5 inches. Hey, Marcos, you're in So Cal, let's all get together and chip in for the 3" capacity bender. Matt and I are in Huntington Beach. Owen
  11. I'm sure the performance benefits would be great, but I've also heard that it gets slightly more difficult to tune the EFI due to the greater inrush of air vs the relatively more gradual inrush of the twin plate design. That being said, I too have a single plate large TB, so it can't be all that difficult. I thought you were getting the TB with the NOS ports built into it? Owen
  12. I didn't know mongooses could sit like that! j/k
  13. Another thing is, mine are pretty tall. The seats are mounted right to the floor with no mounts, just the sliders they came with. I'm lucky my wing just barely hit, but I still made new panels. Just wanted an excuse to do it I guess! Owen
  14. How about this instead of an animal? Owen
  15. I did my own booth with PVC pipe frames and lots of blue tarp all the way around. If I had to do it again, I'd rent a booth... It's just too much trouble constructing it, easy to clean tho, just spray water on the walls and floor. I used two box fans blowing in, figured it be safer than having them blow out for the reasons mentioned above. Owen
  16. I have a set of 4 to 5 spacers , some pix at http://www.v8zcar.com/s30z/brakeswheels.htm Someone please buy them from me. I'm not using them cuz I ended up getting new wheels. That page is over a year old, I'm currently using the new wheels with 5 lug hubs and some one piece spacers. Owen
  17. I thought those looked pretty wide in the pictures, I got the simulated leather 3A Racing seats from PepBoys at $230 each, cloth ones were $160 each. They were wide at the shoulders and hit the door panels, tho I could still close the doors. But the simulated leather seat rubbing against the simulated leather door panel made these awful squeaking noises! I'm currently making new door panels out of fiberglass which have a little indentation right where the shoulder of the door is. Also using a quick disconnect steering wheel but that's more for security reasons. Owen
  18. Read somewhere on the internet today, maybe it was at Caswell Plating, about parabolic heat reflecting IR lamps that are tall and can "shine" down on the hoods. Maybe lines come from getting the lamp too close? Owen
  19. Sounds cool. Make sure those lids stay locked! Owen
  20. Do you mean the inspection lids over the stock battery location and master cylinders? Seems like all the stuff together would cost more than an electric gaiuge and sender? Even a mechanical gauge and isolator shouldn't cost that much. Owen
  21. I checked out hotcoat.com, they actually sell IR heat lamps specifically for curing powder coated stuff. They had pictures of bike frames and stuff. So I guess that means its good! And from what I understand, the curing this way is FAST. Owen
  22. rreford, I saw that HF setup last weekend, does it really work that well? It's a toy I wouldn't use often so I figured the HF one would be cool. Question to all you guys, I've seen posts on other sites where infrared heat lamps, big ones with like 1000+ watts of power, were used to cure the powder instead of an oven. Anyone here ever do that? Owen
