  1. Awesome! What are you going to do to keep debris out of the turbos mounted way down there? Also, is it me or are the exhaust manifolds "censored"? Owen
  2. Heh, "This week on Hybrid TV. We take a peek into Terry's garage to see what he does when he's alone!" Owen
  3. Yup, all fiberglass. But not masonite, I used florist foam and glassed over that. Owen
  4. Definitely without! Terry, you should make a video or something and sell it, I'd buy it! Just set a camera on a tripod and do your thang, no need for fancy editing or scrolling titles Owen
  5. As always Dan, your car's awesome! Great shots in the mag too. Kyle, here's some pix of my door panels. http://www.v8zcar.com/sanmaruz/index.htm http://www.v8zcar.com/s30z/interior3.htm I actually don't use my door locks anymore as I have the door poppers. I'm probably gonna move them to my other car. If you're investigating windows, the ones for domestics seem better (they say for flat windows only) as the stock Z regulator isn't used. I STILL can't get my windows to roll up straight! Something like this which lifts the window...should be able to work on a Z? http://www.julianos.com/posi_glide.html Mine is the VPA kit which uses a gear to turn the stock regulator. Owen
  6. I don't have the catalog with me and can't remember the number. I hate it when Summit's site doesn't have pictures... Anyway, both were made by VPA and both are universal kits. Owen
  7. The ZG flares are pretty big, and if you need to shrink the metal, it sounds like the original flares were banged out pretty far? Why don't you just cut the fenders, I have the ZG flares and 17" wheels and actually have to...just don't want to yet... Owen
  8. Cool thanks, I'll post here if I find anything. Owen
  9. Jason, yeah, I tried a long time ago and never could get a hold of them. Do we have any Hawaii members here??? RPMS gave some good advice, hidden kill switches, taking the important fuse with you, etc. are all good ideas. Best idea is, don't tell anyone your tricks! It's like telling people which rock you hid the house key under. Owen
  10. I know that you can swap in the 80's Maxima door locks (I don't know what wafer style is) or you can get aftermarket locks that use those cylindrical keys like on a bike lock. You can shave the handles or do what I did, unhook them. Either way you're gonna end up using door poppers. BTW, I heard that some tracks require outside access to a car in case of emergency, so you might want to think about that. I'm interested in learning about the claw release locks, any info you can give would be great. Stevo, What is this coating for the glass and where can I get it? Owen
  11. Damn that's cheap! I'd like to see more RAM though, but good find nonetheless! Owen
  12. Well, the sword is in the back room, it's being guarded by my other wives Owen
  13. Just to stop the huge misunderstanding that's going on at that board from happening here. The oil coolers on the outside and pole-vault looking exhaust pipes (aka take-yari, etc) went OUT of style in the way early 80's. I still get one or two weirdos asking me if my wife wears a kimono at home and do I have a sword in the house...been watching too many samurai movies I guess (oh yeah, as an Asian, Lost in Translation sucked big time!!!! ) If you drove around like this now, people would be staring at you (from far away) as if you just got the chicken-flu on a trip back from China. He mentioned Bosouzoku, which are essentially ricers from back then who were determined to make their cars unique no matter what. More show than go, and a lot of the people were called yankees (after the term Yankee, why, I don't know....most likely everyone was trying to be James Dean, etc.) Anyway, it seems like a lot of them still have their cars, they're probably pretty old by now (the owners, I mean). I remember looking at magazines like Young Auto and Champ Road which were THE Turbo Magazines at the time These cars are museum pieces! And I bet this gathering was a nostalgic reunion. I like the yellow Z tho, modeled after Akira's Yankee Mate Z in the comic Shakotan Boogie published in the early 90s. Some of the cars at the time were built for speed, and the Yankee Mate Z was definitely one of them. Now of course, every Z owner want to be like the Wangan Midnight Z Owen
  14. What's the part number? I couldn't find anything on their website except the ones without a lever. Owen
  15. Sweet! Man you got the hookups, I wish I knew someone who did free body work! So how's she run??? Owen
  16. I think we would need to take care not to have overlapping topics, steering racks, brakes, etc. we already have forums for these and the general consensus is, there are too many forums... In the meantime, maybe you can start a post as, "FABR-fiberglass hood sources" etc etc. FABR=FABRICATION, use whatever you want. BTW, anything I have posted on fiberglass or sheetmetal is in the paint and body section. Owen
  17. I hope you didn't lose any data. I have...a couple of times, So I finally gave in and bought Promise Fasttrack RAID card and have two 160GB HDDS mirrored Works great for video editing too, IDEs are so fast nowadays SCSI is useless. Owen
  18. Tim, You're the only person I know who is crazy about the color purple! Forget the MoguuZ or however it's spelled, I'm calling your car the Grimace! As in.... HAHAHA! bastaad525, Don't even think about arguing with Tim on these topics I only went for the V8 swap because it was unique and a lot cheaper but I'd take a built Japanese motor (like an RB26DETT, hell, even a VQ twin turbo!) anyday if I had the money. The domestic crowd says there's no replacement for displacement, and the ricers say there is, a 1.6L and a turbo. Well I say big displacement AND turbo(s) = untouchable! Anyway, to keep this thread on topic, that purple car is ugly. Owen
  19. The fender looks like it was just cut, sheet metal bent in and a lip built up around it. Similar to an idea I have which is more subtle. But if it's a show car, I think it looks good! Can't wait to see other angles of the car. The rims I don't like either but I've seen worse at M-S-A's show. I just don't like positive offset rims, the Z is a classic and IMHO, it takes away from the "muscle" of the car. Owen
  20. "nicely done" is definitely not how I would put it...unique yes, but not my taste. Owen
  21. To continue with the off-topic...sorry Grumpyvette! Damn, lasers and such Jon Mortensen hates those things There was a pretty long thread we had going on measuring for the suspension, bunp steer, lasers, etc. You might be able to find it in a search. I have one of these, http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=208075&prmenbr=361 two plates of masonite, steel, etc. with some oil in between them seems to work pretty well as turntables. Or you could always get these.... http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=45742 Whoa! The price went down! ON topic, I used the press so many times this past weekend, and also last nite putting in a steering knuckle ball joint. Owen
