  1. Ross C, scca Mike, please report to the front counter.
  2. Welcome to Hybrid GMDatsun. Let me chime in with TomHawk. The jtr book should be your first purchase. Order it here jtr Order the tpi/tbi book while you're there as well. Both are absolutely necessary for your swap. As for tranny's, either the 700r auto or the T5 if you want to row your own. Click on "my displays" below to see what it will look like when it's in. Good luck! Hey, Reno's only about 3hrs. from Rio Vista. Why don't you come down for the Zmeet here next month? Zcar meet in Rio Vista info page Then you can see it in person.
  3. I'm with Len. It's only painless after you pay for it. No message ment here, just love this little puker.
  4. I'm dieing, Yes! BEMBO! Please BEMBO! HAAAAAAAAAAAAA! I love it!
  5. I ordered my rims from Billet Specialties . They WILL make 10" wide rims in 4 lug. You tell them the bolt pattern and backspacing. They make and ship. I paid $193 ea. for the 15x8's and $200 for the 15x10's through Les Schwab.
  6. Or somethig subtler like this? Then go here
  7. Phil, I like what you have done. I'm doing the bumperless look on mine as well. But I'm keeping the stock taillights. With your mods the lower valance kind of gets oversized. Not a criticism, just MHO. Maybe to go along with the 300ZX lights you could fab, or graft in, squarish bumperettes on either side of the license plate? Wasn't there a year that they did that on the 300ZX? I liked that look. Kind of like what Porsche did on a few models.
  8. I e-mailed these "Showcars" guys. They never responded. I called, was put on hold, and then hung up on. Called back and he said he couldn't talk now and took my number. You guessed it. Why risk perfectly good money on these guys when we have someone like John Washington? BTW, has ANYONE here ACTUALLY bought stuff from this Mr. Showcar? Can anyone vouch that this guy really ships a product? I know lots of people here who have gotten excellent products and service from John. Myself included.
  9. Impact sockets. They're thick walled. They're tough. They're air driven. They're the ones for you!
  10. I did the tpi swap. Call around the local yards and tell them what you're doing. That way they will know from the begining that you will need EVERYTHING. Get the jtr books. The tpi/tbi book is very helpfull. I paid $1250 for the "package", the motor and anything else I needed off the car. I went back about 3 times. You can click on the link below to see my swap. Feel free to ask any questions either here or by e-mail.
  11. If you ask Eric he will forward your e-mail to him. ZPARTS.COM E-mail Address(es): eric@zparts.com
  12. And Kevin doesn't even have a V8 in his car. But he sure knows the drill. Someone here coined the phrase "scope creep". It is the bain of this stuff. My advice is to resist it at all cost. Remember, you can always go back and upgrade your muffler bearings and flange rods at a latter date.
  13. Miles, here is an on line tutorial prepared by Eric Neyerlin. Removing brake drums Hope this helps. Dan
  14. Mike I planned to go with a 350tpi as well. I just couldn't find one in the yards that was not tons of miles or beat to shreads. I bought the 305 because it was cheap, $1250 complete, and low miles, 68K. The differance in power for '91 model year is 230hp/300tq for the 305, and 240hp/345tq for the 350. BTW, mine had an auto behind it, I changed it to the t5. Very little wiring to change.
  15. Mike, the R200 will easily handle the power of a 305tpi. Some guys here are pushing 400hp through those rearends no problem. Can't answer your other questions, but here is a pic of what it will look like.
  16. Drax, I've been checking around the parts houses core charges. $50 to $80 each. Ouch! What did you pay for your JY calipers? Is it worth scronging the yards? And, SCCA, what year 4runner is the one? How do you get that "W"?
  17. Congrats Mojo! Wow, 4 years. I've driven mine a couple of times but slowly. It's still doesn't have all the body parts back on it yet. I can't wait to get on it and feel that 2nd gear pull! The little I've driven mine it seems that 1st goes away really fast. What rear gears are you running?
  18. Hey Grumpy, since he's just opening up the ends by removing the metal between the runners is he really gaining anything? I mean, the runners still have the same i.d. in the middle where he can't get his grinder in, right? He says it "feels stronger", but I'd like to see some dyno #'s.
  19. Please Ron, if this is a streetcar, don't use Lexan. It is not nearly as safe as glass. Your windshield is made up of two pieces of glass with a sheet of plastic in between. When struck by a large heavy object, like a loose tire, it is smashed but rarely penetrated. The Lexan would pop out and you get a faceful of Goodyear. Racecars that use Lexan windshields also have aluminum bars that extend vertically over them just for this reason. This last week I saw an Audi TT on the side of the road with a completely smashed windshield. Driver was unhurt. On the opposite side of the freeway was a big old Chevy Van dragging a brake drum as he came to a stop. The stock windshield is cheep, less than $200. Plastic surgery isn't, ask me.
  20. Here's another option on ebay. Datsun racing mirrors
  21. Solder them. The harness going to the pump and the sending unit has a plug. You can pull the plug and remove it completely from the car to solder it if you like. I wouldn't bother though. As long as you take reasonable care and are in a "well ventalated area" (read outside or with the garage door open) there is very little risk of igniting the fumes, especially with just a soldering iron, no open flame. (sorry, had to do that)
  22. Ross is the man, treated me better than I could have expected.
  23. Oh boy, I think I started all this. I didn't mean to insult you, OtakuZ. I was just having some fun. We do that here. Didn't want it to be at your expence. Please forgive me. I promise to be more helpfull next time.
