  1. Here is one. Angle is wrong and the bone head painted them white. Here is one of a taillight by it self. The light is about 18" x 6". Sorry, best I could do it this point.
  2. Right on. Thanks Wagz. Any chance you could drop in those 300ZX lights? If you can, position them in the lowest, most outboard corners of the black panel. Gee, hope I'm not giving anything away.
  3. Thanks Wagz. Actually, I saw it this morning at around a quarter to 6:00 while on my way to work. In my mind that is. And it looks great! I guess you would call it an epiphany. Sometimes I can put pictures together in my mind and see the finished project. When it works I can actually rotate the image and see it from different angles just like a computer. There, I've confessed. Now you know I'm psycho. Well, you'll have to judge for yourselves when you see the real pics. I'm heading to the JY's Saturday with my sawzall. I'm not letting out any clues yet. You'll have to wait for the pics!
  4. Hmmm...Stanelly, Mikelly, Anyway, all the convertable kits I know about are for the 2 seater. However, it shouldn't be too hard to adapt a kit to the 2+2. I think this is the best looking one. you can get it here: Z Spider kit
  5. I know what you guys are saying about the Ford lights. And Rick is partial to the classic Cobra Daytona look. But I'm leaning toward a more current (don't read trendy like altezza) look. Wagz, I don't do photo shop. I've seen people do some incredible things with that. I just can't dedicate the time to learn. If you have the talent and are willing I would love to see what you could do. Were those Supra lights for sale on that site? I found that pair of 300ZX lights on ebay for $75. Pete I'm flattered by your comments. I agree, I want to seen. The only thing that worries me in this car is it's poor crash-worthiness.
  6. Well, since my name has been mentioned here more than once it must be time for me to chime in. Sorry Eric, I can't agree with you about those taillights Nemeziz put up. Nothing personal, they just make me I also had the idea about the Legend lights. The size and shape is about right. And they are relatively flat unlike 99% of modern cars. Has anyone else noticed that almost all the latest cars have rap-around taillights? The week spot on the Legend lights is that they are just not that inspiring. Now those Supra lights, they have some potential. Wagz, it looks like you may have photographed those yourself. If you own a pair how about somehow attaching them (with tape or something) to the back of your Z and taking another shot for us to ponder?
  7. What about 300ZX lights turned upside down?
  8. FWI, forget about 16" rims. you can't get rubber that wide in 16". Max for 15" is 295. I got the two of the last four 305's in 15" in the country. New rule: Good, WIDE, or cheap. Pick two.
  9. That radiator is probably not the right one. To be the right one out of an F-body it needs to have a core 21" wide (the part with the fins between the tanks). If you can find a V6 full size van that is the same one only with a petcock. Here is a shot of mine with the Taurus fan.
  10. Pete, you will be happy to know I spoke with my body man today. The stalling is over. The car leaves my garage tomorrow. TZ and Nate, Go to Billet Specialties . They will make you semi-custom billet rims at a very reasonable price. You pick the style, tell them the bolt pattern and backspacing, and poof, it shows up at your door. They will make 10" rims on four bolts. Something Centerline will NOT do. Alex, thanks for letting me thrash your car. TOO STIFF, TOO STIFF! Ernie, I'll stop by his place tomorrow and ask. If he says yes I'll get you his phone number. You really should check out the possibilities with Eric’s cars though. Rick Scott, can you get Mike Dennis a.k.a. 73BOTIZ hooked up on the NorCal Hybrid board? He asked me how to do it but... Phantom, sorry, no history. See that big green Suburban in the background in some of the shots? Bought it on ebay. I came from...you guessed it.
  11. The "just friends" shot. Go see the rest of Erics pics here: Erics photos And see shots from Alex here: Auxilary's pics
  12. Forgive me for taking this slightly off topic. I agree with you Pete on the mirrors. I've been looking for just the right ones for my car now that the next step is the paint and body. I was very interrested in the way you did yours. I've been thinking of using the ones off an early '90's Celica, They are very roundy and almost come to a point at the the part farthest part from the car. They have two "arms" that extend from the base to the mirror housing. Kind of a biplane look. The wild card is the window angle and if they can be modified to mount study like your's. Anybody ever try these?
  13. "And she purrs like a kitten 'till the lake pipes roar."
  14. BTW, Pete, do you think my flares are gaudy? (I feel like a woman asking if this dress makes me look fat.)
  15. Anything can be done tastefully or.... dis-tastefully. The problem is the farther you go the the thinner the line between the two becomes. I have no problems with with a highly customized interior. In many ways it's more of a challenge than other areas of the car. One example I can think of is the Tomahawk dash cap. The stock dash has a very appealling shape on it's own. Takes some guts to think you can improve on it. I love that cap. Gives it a look like the C3 Vettes dash. Use your best judgment and go for it. We'll be gentle with our criticism.
  16. Hey John, I think your right about bolting the half shafts to the diff first, then to the stub axles. I've got an R200 waiting to go in. When I'm around people who have done it I ask questions. Only problem is I forget faster than I learn as I get older. I think I remember someone saying that though. Give it a try, bet it works.
  17. You're all very welcome. We had a great time too. Thanks to everyone for coming. Jon, I really missed you. Thought for sure you and Ron would come. I wasn't serious about thrashing your car 'till the diff strap broke. And Donna, what happened? Eric took pics all day. E-mail him and beg him to post a few. Especially the "only friends" shot of Don and Mark (Lone and ZDreamer)!
  18. Hey guys, why not a transaxle in a Z? I bet Scotty could figure it out. Sure, you got a lot of cuttin' & burnin' to do. But think about it: You could mount an ice chest in place of that huge tranny tunnel. That's better than a weezy cup holder. 24 cans of caffine free Pepsi on ice right there next to the shifter!
  19. Stunning, Frank. I'm drooling. My wife hates yellow cars. When I was a kid (many moons ago) I had a Hot Wheels Corvette in bright yellow with duel black stripes. It was about a '70 roadster. Hands down my favorite. That was the car I always wanted. Both my brothers have owned Vettes. I've never even driven one. But theirs were never that beautiful "fly" yellow.
  20. The trick with swapping in modern chairs is the width. Some here have swapped in Prelude and Del Sol seats. I bought a pair of Starion seats off ebay for $100. They fit nicely and are an easy mod to bolt in. Very comfy and adjust 7 ways to Sunday.
  21. I believe that it is true that some ZX's came with the R180. The way to tell a R180 from a R200 is to look at the rear cover. I know this is not nearly as helpful if you have never seen an R200 before. At least that is the way I thought before I saw one. But... the R200 is much more roundish than the R180. Also, the mounting studs on the R200 are on a raised section of the rear cover, unlike the R180's rear cover which is relatively flat. Can't help you on the Subaru R180. I know that Nissan made various versions of R200s that won't bolt up to the Z car. This may be the case with the Subaru rear end. Either way I wouldn't spend money on it without knowing much more about it. Almost forgot, you will need the moustache bar with the R200 to do the swap into a 260Z. That's it. You can modify the one you have but why bother. If you're pulling the diff anyways, the bar is only another two bolts. And it's cheap. Paid $5 for mine.
  22. Nope, only in glass. And only for another two weeks. kitcarz.com
  23. Hey Mike D. Your pic went red X. Write back and give a description at least.
  24. Congrats Wagz. You may have the dubious honor getting one of the last VR kits produced. Let's all hope not. I'd like to do one myself, maybe in 10 years or so. It should take that long for my wife to agree to another project car.
