thats my new favorite Z. -
sandblasted and primered finally (pics) (56k beware)
powershift replied to poortecher's topic in Body Kits & Paint
it looks to me like he primerd the whole car to prevent surface rust from begining on the bare blasted metal, which is proper as long as he goes back and cuts all of that ♥♥♥♥ out. -
if your planning on repainting id do all the bodywork over the gaps and then take a cut off wheel and go through all of them, that will keep it all lined up nice.

when ever i get my project underway im planning on modifying my rear bumper to not wrap around the side of the rear, because thats what really fucks up the lines of the car.

lexan windows.. thickness recs and where to purchase?
powershift replied to JaysZ's topic in Fabrication / Welding
you make a hole in 1/8" lexan with a lighter, its as good as having no windows at all really, but if ur not in a high risk area it would most likley be fine. -
are they considering that 383s these days? 383 is 4.030 x 4.00 no?

yea i gave in, picked up a manual.
powershift replied to powershift's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
i dont want to have to do the same work twice, if its worth it to dish out the 1800 for the t56 then i might have to do that, if thats my only option. i really dont want to get stuck someone for pushing a t5 to hard ya know. -
what part of north carolina? im looking for a good condition first gen Z to do a swap on, if you see anything with little rust in fair shape for cheap please let me know. -Vin

thanks ill look into it, i read somthing about the world class t5 but i still wasnt conviced it was stong enough... im not gonna say i beat on my stuff, but i will push things rather hard once in a while, id like to know i could take it down the track a few times without having to worry. ill do my homework on the T5 though, if anyone has any links with good Info please feel free to send them my way. -
yeap, took your guys advice. just got my copy of the conversion manual from summit, they sent me a hat aswell. (whats funny is my friend just orderd a full exhust and all he got was stickers, i guess summits expecting me to send a buncha money there way with this book) im about halfway through (believe me id be done with it if it wasnt for these pain killers putting me to sleep, got a tooth pulled today and it wasnt a pretty site) i have to ask your guys advice on the trans though, it says here that the T5 is only good for people running close to stock 350s, expecting to run 14s with 300HP, and my long block is pushing over 400, t56 remans are EXPENSIVE! 1800 without clutch or bellhousing from what i can see, thats more then i put into the whole motor, id really like to keep it a lowbudget buildup, are there any other options (besides the vette 4+3, that looks like more work then its worth) im not willing to go automatic either. thanks -Vin

the manual is 40$ shipped, id rather get a few simple questions answerd, and then locate a project car before i pick up a manual. -
QFT although i dont understand the collector exit extension? ill have to look into that. i have a similar motor (69 010 canadian block) now i know what i can expect out of it mid 12s will be nice. i donno about no2 though.

what about my first 4 posts? -
305s dont have the correct bore to be a 302, a 302s bore is 4.00 where a 305 is somthing like 3.900 or maby even smaller. having the same cubes doesnt make it the same motor, but the 305 has plenty of potential for bolt-ons, it just depends on how far your willing to take it, i know it would be alot better on gas then other smallblocks.

Hi, awhile ago i was around the boards just interested in the idea of a SBC in a Z. Now im really considering this but i have a few questions. Let me start out by saying i have a 350 SBC thats been sitting on the engine stand for quite some time. should be pushing out between 400-425HP at the crank, which is decent power. id like to know what rearend you guys are using, and what are some readilly availible gear ratios offerd for the stock rear (if its useable) and what transmission is best to use, and if the clutch cables will mount right up from the datsun to the chevy. Does the shifter tunnel line up comfertably or am i going to have to hack up the floor and/or center console. I will be using a JTR conversion kit, with there headers and radiator. are there any other parts that i should look into now? any other upgrades on the body i would need before being able to do the swap? what have you guys done for exhust? i was thinking Bending up my own , but if there is somthing that would work that i could just buy upfront that could save alot of head aches. what have some of you done for gauges? and was it hard to wire them up to the chevy wireing harness? do i need to buy a low rise distributor to clear the firewall? and what aftermarket aircleaner will fit under the stock hood? Links would be greatly appreciated to supporting parts. Im trying to get this build planned out as much as possible and have all the kinks worked out so i know exactly what im getting myself into before i even think about starting. thanks -Vin
