  1. that is EXACTLY what I needed to know. I am currently working on the car, but I have made sure to not touch the body in anyway. I had fixed what the shop owner had said was unfixable. "Professional mechanics" couldn't fix it. But some "stupid kid" fixed the problem in 2 hours, this is deffinitly getting brought up in the case, just as an extra kick. I have a note from him explaining that the problem was not repairable, but could be replaced only. I have a bit of experiance in body work and paint. Actually half the school and shop time it takes to be certified, so I know how body work goes when a shop causes damage. I didn't care what it looked like, as long as it was straight and true, if the color didn't match, thats fine-I'm gonna paint it anyway. But now that I've been called out as a "stupid kid" trying to start something and trying to wiesel my way out of paying labor fees, now I'm mad. I'm gonna fight for it to look the way it did before, I don't want to see a diffrence.
  2. Where did you find this info? I've been looking all over, but I guess I'm typing in the wrong things. I'll let you know what happens about the hood. I want to goto court first before I start fixing what I'm sueing for.
  3. I wasn't aware I would have to replace the tach, but O well. I had the electronic on my ZX, it was pretty nice till it crapped out, but the GM HEI fixed the issue, and cheap. I've been considering getting a ZX piece. I was just wondering about this unit that came with the car.
  4. I found out long time ago that this is an Allison(Crane Cams) XR700 setup. I've decided that I need to pump up the ignition a little bit, and what better then something I already own. Does anybody have any idea how this is wired up at all?
  5. Well, It seems as though that I'm going to court, I'm still looking into it a bit more. I have a few questions about this though. How long of a time frame do I have between the incident occuring before its been too long to file charges. The only reason I ask is because I have to get a quote for repairs before I can goto court. I'd much rather have the car running and drive it to the shop to get the quote then eat 2 towing costs, and court fees and such if/when I loose.
  6. First thing I thought. NOOOO not the Z.
  7. Anybody else have one there willing to part with?
  8. I know its a long shot, but does anybody know where there is an HKS triple plenum for sale. Or even a cartech, or SK, or anything else?
  9. whoops, I think I may have slipped on something, what is the head studs torque with ARP studs and lube?
  10. Thats good to know, will my Z finally make it? Probably not, but maybe.
  11. No, I'm thinkin of boosting a Neo RB25DE, I have no problems with that idea, people do it all the time. But the problem is, they can be found at great deals with an automatic, I'm wondering what it would take to use a regular RB25DET transmission behind it.
  12. Pull-type vs. Push-type clutch Automatic NEOs are a dime a dozen, and can be had VERY cheap for a motor-set. If I could do a trans swap with a standard Rb25det 5-speed, then I could take advantage of having the upgrade of the Neo head, without having to spend as much as buying a full 5 speed Neo
  13. Its not the power potential that I'm worried about, its the transmission, I was wondering if there was a way to do a trans swap using a regular RB25 Trans?
  14. 79-83 all look the same. Check your vin numbers, if it was anything like my 81' ZX I had, The engine was a 79', the dash was 81', the doors were 80', everything was mix-matched. Probably a swap, as more people do those then the N/a-t
  15. Hmmm, I'm trying to figure this out. You can find auto Neos all day long for next to nothing....as compared to the other RBs
  16. turns out that I set it off the pump, and my timing was only off by about 70 degrees. I'm actually impressed that it would backfire. I pulled it apart again and got the timing set at 0 degrees and I'll time it from there. Its ready to run, but I had to fix my daily. I may start it tonight, if not tommorrow.
  17. Its an old subject, but I'll give it a shot. Will the regular RB25DET trans fit behind the Neo motor? I know the diffrence is pull type vs. push type clutch, is there a way to just put on a regular push type clutch and slave cylinder?
  18. Oil pump is taking care of now, I just need to pull it apart again, as I set the timing wrong. LOL I could probably get a hood at a local junkyard, but there is a guy somewhat local who has a hood, and front airdam, and a few other parts I may be looking at soon.
  19. In all honesty when it arrived at the shop, I didn't say to put the motor back together correctly. I said install the oil pump, dizzy, and wiring harness, and fuel lines and get it started. I did not ask them to put the motor back together correctly. He said that we rebuilt it incorrectly, and I wonder how he can tell that by looking at the outside, looks arn't everything.
  20. It was awesome. Deffinitly alot more S30s then I had expected.
  21. Yah, i popped it off and fixed it last weekend. Slinger wasn't seated right. Still have yet to fire the car up.
