  1. I'm on the otherside of the US, but I have a pretty clean 280z with an L28e(t) in it, for the right price, I may get rid of it.
  2. It appears to be straight and true, and theres no visible damage that I can see.
  3. The motor has been tore apart for along time, and this is the last thing I need to do before I put the wiring back in. I started by putting the motor at TDC, then putting in the spindle. It slides in fairly easy, then it won't go any further, if I look at the top, the spindle isn't flush, is sunk down in the hole about 1/8 of an inch. I was under the car looking while a buddy turned the motor over by turning the crank bolt. The motor is turning over, but the spindle won't turn at all. The dizzy and pump are not in at all. I can't get the pump in because the spindle won't seat all the way up. I tried what the manual says, about lining up the marks, and the FSM says to try it slightly offset "in the 11:25am position" I couldn't get either on to work.
  4. I did that, and for some reason it won't mesh with the gears
  5. No matter what I do, I can't seem to get the thing in. I pushed it in as far as I could, and rotated the crank, and it still wouldn't turn the spindle. Any other ideas?
  6. bring it by my place this weekend, and we can figure it out. Maybe even have 2 Z's running, in the same place, wouldn't that be nice.
  7. I am having a hard time trying to get the oil pump spindle back into place on my L28, and by the Haynes manual, its says that it gets removed and installed without having to pull the front cover. I don't remember how it came apart, but its not going in like it should, it won't push in all the way. Am I missing something?
  8. Its an awesome idea, think: less rust, a lot of aftermarket for suspension and such, did I mention less rust, a pretty nice looking car, and best of all your frame rails and floor pans will most likely be stable because of......you guessed it, less rust. Its a cool idea, if I end up getting rid of my 280z, you can bet theres an l28 going into an S13, why be the same as everyone else when you can be diffrent. And the thought of some nice low end torque in a 240 seems like a perfect match.
  9. Good luck tom, you can outrun the cops, but the radio they use is much faster. And I believe that if they get your plate they can ticket you anyway without stopping you, can't they? well, because of all this, I've decided that I now need to register to vote to get these guys out.
  10. What are the actual diffrences between these 2 motors. Some people say the blacktop has more power/torque, but same places say its the same. I have also recently heard that the blacktop has forged pistons, but I don't remember seeing too much about this. A simple google search shows that the main benifit is the fact that its a new engine, and would therefor have less miles, and not too much else. I tried searching some of the 240sx forums, and its a bunch of kids fighting and flaming others, and becomes hard to tell if the info is correct. What is the actual diffrences? I know theres a few people on here that do alot of SR swaps, and Vildini comes to mind, would you happen to know?
  11. and of all days, 7-7-07 too, happy birthday mike and mike
  12. turbo or non turbo, try a junkyard, somebody here will always have spare parts.
  13. the stock Z's didn't have an o2 sensor IIRC, except for the turbo versions. Megasquirt is pretty cheap if you think about it, known to make more power and gas mileage.
  14. Sounds like a plan to me, I just didn't want to get into a situation where the turbo spinned up too much and actually caused its demise.
  15. Its funny because at the beginning of this post, I was gonna ditch the motor to drive it to school. Now I'm keeping the motor and taking it home from school. I just finished rebuilding it, and need to run some piping and such, and my injectors aren't compatible without megasquirt, and I can't run megasquirt without a CAS. So the initial plan is to get it running N/a, drive it home, then get the dizzy, MSD box, and build the piping, as well as use the new injectors with megasquirt. The car just needs to be out of the school ASAP, because the semester ended almost 2 months ago, and it should have been gone then.
  16. Would this hurt the turbo at all, by over spinning it, and not having enough backpressure through the intake to slow it down? I only ask becasue I'm about to get the car started, but without my intercooler piping, and without a turbo dizzy(can't find one) I can't really run it boosted with megasquirt. I plan to get it started with the stock electronics to atleast drive it back home from school. Then when I can source a turbo dizzy, then I will do the megasquirt install.
  17. If you do part it out like it states in the other thread, give me a heads up first, as I may be willing to buy some parts.
  18. The new Z06 has directional wheels stock, with I believe 18"s in the front and 19"s in the back-There are meant to cool off the brakes. It is pretty funny when a Z06 guy wants a tire rotation. "So do you want us to switch the wheels side to side, causing the brakes to overheat?" "Or would you rather us switch them front to back where your tires may rub?" About that time is when they say nevermind. Seeing as how the cheapest you can get tires for that car is like 500 for the front and 600 for the back, IIRC(per tire)
  19. you didn't by any chance use the non turbo AFM did you?
  20. Its funny that I was searching to find an explanation to the ads, and I found this. What is it, I guess the site is too expensive, atleast some of them had something to do with datsuns.
  21. Just as the title states. My dad and me decided to take a short haul upto Washington DC for Rolling Thunder. Although I don't have any pictures of it, I wore my HybridZ sweater as we rolled in. For anybody ever considering to do this, stop considering it. JUST DO IT. This is the first trip that was more then a half hour trip on a bike, and it doesn't help that I get back problems from driving for over an hour, on a bike though-it was about 15 minuts before I started going nuts-I think I need more seat time.
  22. I should have a video of mine up and running VERY soon, seeing the videos deffinitly pushes me more. Motor goes back in tommorrow night. Thanks for the encouraging video.
  23. They got a few handfuls and restored them, there is atleast one floating around on hybridz. I think its VintageZ who owns one.
