The 280zx turbo manifold will bolt upto the H1E(which I'm told is VERY similar to the H1C-cept the C is a vband I believe), you'll have to clock the housings if not the blower housing will aim at the frame rail. I wouldn't consider theses turbos small by any means. Try finding a used T25 from an SR20, the SR20 guys are always upgrading them. Theres actually 2 for sale in the classifieds section now.

Or goto school and build the car? It takes alot out of you, but its well worth it in the end, when you know that you busted your A$$ for months working and going to school, and when you get a chance to you can build the Z. Mine should be done fairly soon, I work full time and goto school full time, and its pretty cool to know that the Z will be road worthy and destroying the ricers around.

I understand exactly what you saying, I recently dropped off my L28 block, head, and crank and went over what I wanted. They showed me EVERYTHING in the shop, and went into detail what each process includes and was quoted a price, I recently talked to them, and they said I need a new intake valve and the rest were up to par, and told me it was probably a good idea to get the angle job. I said go ahead, didn't even ask a price, I really don't care what it costs, its about quality-not the quantity. I'd rather it cost X amount more the first time, then to have to re-do it and pay X times 5.

You don't need to hand pump the bad gas, Nissan did it right, and put a gas drain plug on the gas tank underneath. If its been sitting that long, your probably gonna need new fuel injectors

Does anybody running a Scottie downpipe in a 280z coupe body have there exhaust system off the car? I have acquired a ScottieGNZ downpipe and was wondering if somebody would be willing to measure out there exhaust system with the bends and post the measurements and angles. My motor is at the machine shop, and I have quite a limited amount of time to finish my setup before the school semester is over. If I can get the exhaust taken care of while the motor is away, then I'd be able to stay busy and take care of these things in advanced. This is a 78' 280z coupe, if I can get it roughly all together right thats great, I can always cut and weld(lengthen/shorten)if need be. I have a stock exhaust system in my garage that I can model after, but I'm not sure on the length of it assuming a GNZ downpipe is involved. I also don't remember where the exhaust tip is in relation to the body.

not too sure on the exhaust, but you need to come down to richmond at some point.

Those are some talented guys, I've seem some good body work happen on that show, there they just cut metal away, rivit in new metal, lots of bondo, then paint. They don't even need a welder, the paint only needs to look good while its on camera, after a few months the bondo will chip away.

Carefull with that, did you know that its considered assault with a missle if you throw something out a moving vehicle. Idk if this is maybe just in VA. A guy I know got arrested for using a missle when he threw a bottle at somebody from a moving car. There was recently a lady in VA that was caught up in road rage when a guy cut her off, so she threw her McDonalds Sweet Tea into the guys car(window was down). A cop was close by and saw this, she got arrested for assault with a missile, she is now serving 2 years.

Or go spend about 50-100 dollars on random automotive books and such, like a book on internal combustion engines, and buy Maximum boost, great book. Seeing as how 100 dollars is about 1% of you budget, its not a big loss, actually its more of a gain, because now you have knowledge of what to do. $100 is chump-change in the long run.

I may have to do this, may look into the HKS gasket then, since it is a bit more easy to come by.

Not sure if this is the right thread, I've heard the 1mm nismo gasket was discontinued, is this true? I can't find anyone that sells it. Courtesy doesn't have it on the site anymore, do they still sell it?

Same here, reading and watching TV, and looking at magazines goes a LONG way. 8-9k into a Z including car-that simple. Including car I'll have about 3500 into the Z, and it will easily destroy a 944.

The Ma70 Supras are fun cars, a bit on the fat side, but fun none the less. The head gasket problem was mainly due to a the head bolts being torqued fairly low. I think it was something like 50ft/lb, but I don't remember. I just finished helping a friend on his head gasket-he used ARP studs and torqued them to 87 ft/lbs. Alot of Supra guys retorque the stock bolts with the stock gasket anywhere from 70-120ft/lbs with great results. It wasn't that big a deal either, it was just a bit time consuming, the hardest part is the wiring. And that is pretty idiot proof-as in, there is only one set of red 3 pin connectors, and 1 set of blue 4 pin connectors......IDIOT PROOF.

Paid 1300 for a Z in NC, never saw it, other then the pictures online. Didn't have any money left over to even consider getting it home. Sparks280zt cut me a deal, and helped out BIG TIME, thanks again Matt
