From that last pic it did look familiar.

The races are meant to be on the track, after what you and Jim told me last year to take it to the track it makes alot more sence. Besides that I just got a speeding ticket a few months ago(just speeding, nothing reckless) and I started to think, if I get caught racing, there goes the car, my license, and alot of money. Pretty pointless when I think its like 15 to race, or something small like that at the track. Honestly I don't hang out with any of these guys, one was a Zcar I saw on craiglist awhile back with flames and he was asking 9k, and I started talkin to him on AIM about it and he was pretty cocky about his S14 and his knowledge of all Z's. I think that post got deleted. The "flames don't look good post" was all the same person, but this time it was just the ad I posted. Have never met this guy in real life, and don't really want to-unless he wants to line up. The jetta guy is one of my old girlfriend/old friend's husband who just likes to brag about his car skills, they live in Newport and I've never met the guy, but with as much as hes trying to impress me, he just seems like an idiot. I wasn't the one that initially started a fight, all I said was the Veyron was over-rated. Eventually he came up with the idea to street-race for "pinks" against his jetta. I said how bout loser pays track fees, do you wanna race at richmond drag, or is there a place closer to you that you wanna race? I do my best to stay out of drama, can't stand it really. You are right that it would be a full time job to teach all the idiots in mechanicsville, theres plenty of idiots here, but niether one of these guys lives here, I don't really have to worry about them.

Yah, buy nitrous, but don't fill it. Tap and hold it everytime you shift. And make sure to make your 6th gear completly for top speed.
-
I plan to run him at low boost just so he can win, then ask for 2 out of 3-hes cocky-he'll take it. Second race run a bit more boost just enough to barely beat him. He'll say he didn't shift right, and he would have gotten me. So I'll bet him 20 bucks. Race three will be at my max boost setting and a bit of spray, just to keep him wondering. btw, one of my friends told me about this supposedly badass jetta-Its stock!!!
-
Ahh, the old Redneck body lift. Longer bolts and some hockey pucks.
-
not really about a dragrace, just being stupid-I am going to race him just to shut him up though. But like most sour losers I'll prolly hear "I missed second" "theres something wrong with my car, I would have beat you" or any other excuse. But atleast this way he'll shut up.

That game is awesome, I used to play it for hours in school and home.

Its one thing to not possese the knowledge, but its another thing to have the wrong knowledge. This is mostly a pointless rant, I really can't stand the ignorance of people who think they know everything about cars, yet when you make a point-they try and flip it as I don't know anything about cars. Such as..... My L28et setup runs about 8.2-8.3:1 CR and runnin about 10psi, and that is TOO much compression to run a turbo, the motor will blow in no time. Or that the lack of exhaust will cause my Z to go even slower, because of no backpressure-last I checked a turbo was backpressure, isn't it? or, a Z can never beat a stock veyron(pretty pointless discussion) unless a million dollars was put into the Z, and by the point it would have been better to just buy a veryron anyway. Well, after this stupid discussion, I showed Zgads video where he ran 9.20 vs. a veyron puts down 10.2-10.4(depending on the article you read) And I went into great detail explaining that this isn't even the fasted Z out there, but no-"thats not the quarter mile, thats the 1/8 mile or 0-60 time" Yet another, even if I could afford a skyline motor with basic bolt-ons making some good power, still wouldn't be enough to take a mild jetta 1.8t, because the Z is a slow car. I think some people are just taught the wrong thing so much and are so close-minded that everytime they say something, and think there smart-they seem more like a jackass. When I asked what the jetta had done to it, all he said was "you don't wanna know" maybe that translates to "I don't even know what I have, but its faster then my old civic hatch with a fartcan so it must be good" I think its pretty much stock, probly has exhaust and intake. Sorry for such a long drawn-out post, but right now I'm pretty pissed off and really want to race him, but my L28 is being takin apart for good this time, and a new powerplant will be going in-hopefully by the end of spring so I can put this guys thoughts to rest. On a side note, would anyone in the Newport News area like to race a Jetta in there Z? Just for kicks.
-
I have a question about this. What is the best way to run a turbo/N2O setup? I would be most likely going with a wet shot, but is there a better place to plumb it to over another? If you could do it again with the knowledge you now have, what would you do?

well, it didn't meet the reserve, but its still listed locally on http://www.vadriver.com

did you look at this Mike?

I ended up using PURPLE POWER, poured it on the driveway and just scrubbed it, it does pretty good, but leaves that part of the driveway looking shiney while the rest looks like crap. It took up most of the spots from my ZX's oil and trans leak. I haven't owned it since last september and I only did this about 3 months ago.

you looking into buying another Z? Or just looking to give a report? Find out about his 240sx
-
Its hard to say, I'm guessing that the fuel pressure and timing will make it run pretty good at idle and such because I may have the fuel pressure tuned to work with that leak at idle. But once the rpms change about 200rpm, the leak is getting worse, and therefor throwing off the a/f ratio that seems good at idle. Does this make any sense to anybody, it makes perfect sense to me.

lol, like the design OTM, but I just don't think it looks right on a Z, maybe a truck, a hotrod type car, but it doesn't look right on a Z.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=010&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=200067450509&rd=1,1 I was gonna post this in the original post, but I guess I forgot. Now hes only asking $4900. Why do you think I'm going to loose? Its kind of a bold statement knowing niether car, and what was explained as being an N/A sr20 vs. what is written as my signature-maybe I should update that? If you wanna know the basics of my build, here is what I can think of off the top of my head. N42 bottom with dished pistons, N47 head with light port work, most likely a MLS head gasket-Hopefully I'll have something like 8.5-8.75:1 CR. MSnS system workin with 440 injectors, if not higher. A Holset H1e running about 12-15psi. Right now I'm trying to mockup an SRT-4 intercooler, but I may sell that for something a bit bigger. I plan to use a 2-3lb shot of the laughing gas off the line to spool the turbo. I see no less then 325whp while spraying. I already have the turbo, intercooler, MSnS and a few other things, all I need is injectors and to setup my nitrous system. Soon after the motor is broken in I have plans for a meth injection. Thats the basic jist of my buildup, and I may be forgetting things, but all that vs. a STOCK n/a SR20. Who do you think will win now?
-
I think I am going to setup this race against his SR20, worst case senerio I loose what I bet, I won't bet anything that I can't afford to loose.

Everything is back together, engine wise atleast. No headlights or any other lighting, but the engine is back together completly. It acts the same as before I rebuilt it, and that was because of a vaccum leak where the intake bolted to the head. No leaks anymore, atleast no obvious ones. When I dissconnect the BOV, and just leave the vaccum line open, causing a leak, it still runs the same. I think the BOV might be one of the problems, its a Greddy Type S, which is the replacement for the stock DSM one, but I have it vented to the atmosphere, and I believe its SUPPOSED to leak boost at idle? Could this give me a similar symptom that a vaccum leak would, since technically leaking boost would be a vaccum leak? There is still a bit more tuning with the fuel pressure and timing, but atleast its running. Or should I say was running, I somehow fried a wire for the coil, so I had to jump the coil to keep it going.
-
UPDATE, the Z is back up and running, this time is stays running. It was grounding issues that caused the problem. Now it runs and all, but if I put it in gear it goes, but only up untill a certain RPM, and then I get a bad miss, what do you think the problem would be? Too little fuel? Too much timing?

I thought it was funny that I found this on ebay. Well, now I know what flames on a Z looks like, and I am not very impressed. Originally when he was selling it a few months ago, he thought he could get 9k for it. This is the guy that said that a Z with a motor swap is sacreligious, and is therefor garbage, yet since his has the original motor thats been rebuilt it is considered a great deal. He says its a new remanufactured nissan head, but he originally told me he just got the p90a rebuilt. Sorry to rant, but I'm really not a big fan of this guys work, as he is a Nissan mastertech that likes to throw his title out there as being the most knowledgeable of the car guys. This guys argued his Z was better and he challenged me to a race, I was happy to setup a race as soon as the track reopens, and he is so cocky that he wants to bet $2000 on this race. By then I was thinkin of what I could buy for the Z with that money. But he said he wants to race his 240sx, and I decline, because I have heard of this 240sx, he says there is no SR20 in it, but from being near the city he lives in, I've heard its an S15 SR20 6-speed, but I think someone said that its N/A with a huge CR? IDK, depending on how the Z responds to me in the next couple months, I may be at the local track on street night and lay down a smaller bet, such as $200-$500. Don't bid. Yet again, sorry for the rant, but I couldn't seem to find the thread I posted awhile back about it, maybe it got deleted or my buddys computer never actually posted it.

Yah, probably next week I'm gonna start stripping the motor, and gonna tank it and grind it just the same. It needs to goto the macine shop and I thought about painting it, but I tend to do random various work to the Z and the thought of a scratch-proof coating sounds good.

2003z, what is the pricing of this type of powdercoat? I wouldn't mind getting something similar. How much powder is needed to do a full engine block?
-
I'll have to talk it over with my dad, but hopefully he says yes.

Does anybody know of a complete rebuild kit for the L28e. I have searched, but the only KIT I found had JE pistons and such, and I just want a stock rebuild(with a MLS gasket). Other then that most of them are just gasket kits, I need bearings and rings and such. MSA seems to have a fairly reasonable price for there gasket kit, since I have had experiance with there gaskets and the ones I recieved were of nice quality. I wouldn't mind buying a gasket overhaul kit like offered by MSA, and buying rings and bearing seperate, but I need to know who offers this.

Going to the actual shootout would be awesome, but my dad is trying to be back at work on monday. I'll see if hes willing to take a day off. If not its alright, the meet sounds cool though.
