My busted old 280zx used to get looks and compliments all the time, specially from girls. And bikers too. -
broke my jaw into at least 5 pieces...ouch

I learned the best ways to ditch the bike, I don't have a mountain bike anymore, but I do play with my BMX from time to time. There is a certain skill to ditching the bike. I can be thrown over the bars and land on my feet everytime now. When I broke my ankle I hadn't learned that yet. I also didn't know that doing nose-picks(slam your foot into the front forks and it gets the bike vertical on the nose, at SLOW speeds) fast would cause the bike to flip over and throw me over the bars, and have the bike frame nail my ankle. -
A 1981 280zx, daily driver till I found out the suspension and frame was shot and one hit could be the end of me. I would still be driving it till this day if my parents didn't offer me the old junker truck we had sitting in the driveway and the only reason they did that is because I had spent about 5k on the ZX and I wouldn't junk it unless I had somethin else to drive. A 1992 Mazda B2600i, the last year before ford turned the B-series into a ranger. It was a fun little truck, but it kept overheating till I replaced the radiator, then the clutch hydrolics went out and I said forget about it and sold it. I used that money to pay all my bills and put some money away to save up for...... 1978 280z, this was bought with the intentions of being a daily driver project car type thing. Really only drove it once, and I hated it because it blew the intake gasket when I first took it out of the lot. I've been working on it in little bits, but I gave up daily driver status with this for now so time is nothing. Since I can't drive this, my parents offered me a loan for..... 1993 Sentra xe, drove for a month and a half, and here we are. Wouldn't really consider it easy, I payed every penny of repairs and fees, and insurance, with no help. The only help I got till now was the truck, and that was because they didn't want to pay to fix the truck in the first place.

Your absolutly right, I can be a pain in the arse to live with, but I do plan to get this figured out. For right now I am driving the sentra still, I'm 90% sure that I need to fix the trans mount and the linkage, but I did not blow the gear out like initially thought. I am done with having an old daily driver, I've had too many. I think I may start looking for cars on my own and get something in the 2000-2003 range with about 50k and a 5 speed. I'm really considering an SRT-4. I want something sporty and room for upgrade.

The current Z is Christine, named by Stephen King.....

I didn't blow the entire transmission, just third gear, so I plan to just drive it in 2nd, which isn't too bad, because its an overdrive. New thoughts have come up though, I took the car for a ride tonight, and it has a very bad idle vibration. I think I may have broken a mount and caused the engine and trans to move a bit, so that the linkage may have shifted and not locking into drive and causing it to not shift into 3rd.

T12SDSUD(The 12 second Dual SU Dude) isn't a member here anymore IIRC, but I don't remember why.

My dad isn't the normal dad, he will make me pay back every penny. This is the same dad that decided he didn't want to take off work to goto my graduation, because he didn't think I would graduate, and it seemed pointless to take off work for nothing.(Work said they would give him the time off, but he didn't want to take it off) It wouldn't have even been the whole day off, just come in like 2 hours late. He also doesn't care how much time or effort I put into anything, if its not upto his standards, its crap. He doesn't comprimise.
-
Money isn't really the issue with the car. I did buy my Z, and every penny that ever went into it was mine, my dad thought that since I was going to college now, he'd give me a loan for a car, that I would pay off during the time I'm in college. There was a limit to how much money, miles, and age. I was supposed to have little say in which car it was. The price limit was around 5000, the age was to be no more then around 7 years old, and it was supposed to be around 100k miles. I looked through hundreds of used cars through craiglist, trading post, and the newspaper, and found a bunch of cars that met the requirments, I did my part. When I tried to give him all this info when he wasn't busy, he didn't care at the time because in my house the TV is the most important thing. I called my dad from work because I found another car. This was a 99' sentra GXE 5 speed with about 97K on the clock, for about 4500. He said he had already talked to someone about another sentra and was gonna test drive it after work. When I got home he came pulling up in a 93 sentra. He got a car older then 7 yrs old, with alot more miles then 100k, but saved "me" a like 3 grand. After 5 minuts of owning the car it was at the shop getting the rear main seal replaced. Another 800 down the drain, so he saved me more like 2 grand. But now I see a motor and trans in the VERY near future, so I see no savings, but much more then the budget was set to be. I am beyond mad about this car fiasco. Now that I'm old enough, I may just go buy a gently used car and get my grandparents to co-sign. Or do the SR20DET sentra. btw-The tattoo was a present to me, I didn't pay for it.

This is basicly a pointless rant. Today I was about to leave school in my sentra, put it in reverse, backed up and threw it in drive while standing still. *BAM* Then the car died, and it wouldn't restart-mind you I'm laughing hesterically at this point. A classmate was on the other side of the lot and heard the sound too. "Sounds like you just dropped the trans." I finnally got the car to restart but when I put it in drive, it just revved. So I had to drive like 20-25 miles of highway home, in 2nd gear. Thank god for an overdrive though. I don't really know what I'm gonna end up doing, but it seems as though I now have 2 cars, both don't run. My new tattoo is itching really bad, and I can't scratch it-everything is going wrong at this moment. Now my dad is talking about taking it to the shop to get it fixed, which I WILL NOT DO. The car was bought for me, but I have to pay back every penny of it, which my dad gave me no say in what car. He ended up paying TOO much for it. $1,800 for a 93 sentra sucks, not to mention that it had 166,xxx on the clock. Then he noticed an oil leak onto the driveway.(my dads pet peeve) Rear main seal was bad, so he paid $800 to fix that. So now I pay 100 a month for the next 2 years to pay off that piece of crap, plus whatever else breaks. The car isn't gonna make it much longer. I plan to just drive it in 2nd gear till it blows up, then junk it. I'm a little pissed. Like I said, this is a pointless rant. But on a side note, tell me what you guys think about an SR20DET into the sentra.

I considered RIP ZX, but this one will do for now.

thanks, it is on my forearm. I am pleased with the colors, simple, yet free flowing. It shows a bit of white in the black on the picture, but its not there in real life. I was told that since it was alot of black, it will probly need touchup work within a few months, but the tattoo is garenteed, so all that touchup is free. The artist did a great job, and I'm very happy with how it turned out.

Got the tattoo today. Going to post pics later on when I can find the camera.

I probly started at 13 or 14, and quit right before I turned 17. About a pack a day or so. I'm at 1 year, one month, and 20 days(august 9th, 2005)

Central VA is nice. The prices are going up in the nieghborhoods near me, but the average house value is going down. Stay away from a nieghborhood and you fine. Who wants to live in a nieghborhood anyway-all the rules and such.

I have looked into doing this too. Have you researched this at all? I plan on using it on my Z, not so much of a mileage thing, but an assist with the gas motor. Kind of like what honda uses. The biggest problem being the fact that the electric motors from the hondas don't use 12 volts. Its somewhere between 300-600 volts(just an estimate, I don't have the exact numbers yet), which is why there is 8 batteries in my hybrid. Doesn't seem like a big deal, seeing as how there not HUGE batteries, actually quite small. The electric motor acts as a generator when not in use. How do I use this in my Z? I thought about mounting it to the front pulley with a chain somehow-it can be done. But how do I charge those batteries? I doubt a regular alternator is gonna charge upto 300 volts. Not trying to put you down, I'm actually trying to get some answers from this. -
There was a line to get into heaven and it was a very long line. St. Peter talks to the first person and says "alright, heaven is getting kinda full, so only the people with the worst deaths can get in", the man says OK and tells his story. "I have been thinking that my wife was cheating on me for months, so I decided to get off work early that day and catch her in the act. I went up to the 25th floor of the apartment complex and into my room. I looked everywhere, my wife was sound asleep in her room. Just then I went out on my porch, and there HE WAS, hanging from the railing. I tryed to knock him off, but to no avail. So I got a hammer from inside. A few hits on his hands and he finnally fell, but landed in a bush. So I dropped a small refridgerator on him. Just then I had a heart attack and died" St. Peter-"WOW, that is a pretty horrible death, I guess I can let you in" The next guy then walks up and St. Peter explains "alright, heaven is getting kinda full, so only the people with the worst deaths can get in", the man says OK and tells his story. "It started off as any regular day, I went and did my excersizes on my deck, which happens to be on the 26th floor of an apartment building. I was stretching against the railing and just then the railing broke and I went over it, luckily I caught the railing of the floor below me. As I was trying to pull my self up, this maniac starts hitting me, then gets a hammer and knocks me off. I hit pretty hard, but a bush broke the fall, I couldn't move and barely breating, I looked up and saw a fridge, and it fell on top of me. And here I am. St. Peter-"WOW, that is a pretty horrible death, I guess I can let you in" The next guy then walks up and St. Peter explains "alright, heaven is getting kinda full, so only the people with the worst deaths can get in", the man says OK and tells his story. Well, picture this, I was naked inside a refridgerator.........

I know the feeling, in my Civic hybrid if I go over 65(2000rpm) gas mileage suffers, going from mid 50's to about mid to high 30's. Yet again, I know this feeling too, in the hybrid, i NEVER even touch the gas pedal, its made for mileage, so I treat it that way. Even my 4 cylinder sentra is an economy car, but I tend to get on it quite a bit, it may have to do with the fact that the Z is not roadworthy now either. You have to take care of the need for speed somehow I guess. -
I hydroplaned going about 70 when my brakes went out. Nailed the curb going about 50, hit the front right side wheel. I thought it was gonna flip. Got out of the car, no damage. Didn't really notice the brakes went out till I started driving and the car was shaking bad, and the brakes didn't work. The strut had snapped in two and lodged the wheel under the car at ride hieght, so the frame never touched the ground.

Can anybody find this 1JZ truck video, or can somebody host it, I can't find it.
