  1. I wanted to replace a couple of brake lines while my engine is out so I went to PartsAmerica.com. I bought a couple of BLJ320's as well as a BLJ340 and the total was a whopping $5.87 plus I picked the order up at my local Kragen store for free. The search engine wouldn't return all the brake line sizes (if you enter just BLJ you don't get any matches), but I found the manufacturers site and used their part numbers. http://www.agscompany.com/products/index.php?catId=21&viewProducts=true
  2. Since Ed mentioned O'reilly's I thought I'd check out PartsAmerica online. I used them to buy a couple of brake lines last weekend and it worked out great. They have them so I went ahead and purchased one. It doesn't come with the nut but I'm hoping I can use my old one. www.partsamerica.com (I guess the company owns Checker, Schucks, Kragen, Advance, and Murray's) Thanks.
  3. It looks like MSA has them for $10.83. Unless I find something else I guess I'll just go with that.
  4. I'm using the stock 240Z Water Temperature Sending Unit on my LT1 and it's been working fine. It appears that during my recent engine modifications the sending unit broke. It looks like it has a ceramic insulator on it, similar to what you would find on a spark plug; and that's the part that broke. Will the sending unit still work and/or is there some way to repair it? If not where can I find a new one? I think I've seen them on eBay once in a while, but I don't see one there now.
  5. Thanks everyone. I'm to the point where I don't want to keep track anymore...but I think I"m somewhere around 47. I've installed all my upgrades in my engine and I'm just about ready to reinstall it. I've been taking my time and redoing a few things and cleaning everything up while I'm at it.
  6. Yea, I think that's the same car...and the owner was talking about taking it on the Power Tour when he was at the MSA Show. Are you sure it has Florida Tags?
  7. I was fortunate enough to get a complete setup that was created by HybridZ member Tim240Z. This was before the setup that you can get from Modern Motorsports, but I think his setup uses a lot of the same parts that were used on my setup. You can probably find price information at the Modern Motorsports web site as well as from searching around here at HybridZ.
  8. The water pump outlet that I want to block off has a small metal pipe that is press-fit into the aluminum water pump housing. I've read where people have popped out these metal tubes and threaded it to install a threaded plug or just put in a freeze plug without threading it (the opening is 3/4" diameter). I went to my local auto parts store and bought one of those rubber expansion plugs that I'm going to try and use to cap my water pump opening. I think it will work better than a cap and it will look nicer too.
  9. I have several unused vaccum and heater hose fittings on my engine that need to be blocked off. I've been using these rubber caps that I found at Pep Boys, but they only work for a short time before they start cracking and eventualy leaking. I had a cap on a water pump outlet that gave out a while back and anti-freeze start shooting out everywhere. Does anyone have a better solution? I'm thinking that a small section of hose with some sort of metal plug might work better.
  10. The only aluminum LTX that I'm aware of if an LT5, which is unlike any other LT engine. In general it really depends on what you want. If you want fuel injection and other upgrades such as reverse-cooling go with an LT1. With your budget you could definitely get some good horsepower well north of 400. I'm sure you could get the same amount or more modifiying your current setup as well. If you want a more authentic look to go with your car, then maybe you should keep your existing engine and go with the four dual Webers.
  11. This information is posted already, but the LT1 is no different than any other SBC (at least as far as mounts are concerned). Get the book from JTR and it contains the information necessary to make your own mounts. http://www.jagsthatrun.com/Pages/Datsun_Z_V-8.html
  12. Doing a search here resulted in a few threads that discuss this diff http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=11077 I also found this using Yahoo http://www.ka24development.com/vlsd.html It appears that this diff is an easy swap into a 240SX with no modifications. It will take some work to install into a Z. Most people are opting to use a Q45 diff (including myself) and Moderm Motorsports sells the products you need to make the swap.
  13. Try to find a complete unit (harness, PCM, transmission of your choice, etc.) There are plenty of them out there so I think it's better and cheaper in the long run to find one the way you want it to start. I would try to find an F-body engine from a 95 or later so that you have the right accessories, ODBII, and a vented opti. I have a 94 and updated to a vented opti, so I know how expensive it can be! Here's a link that talks about the vented opti, ODBII, etc. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=90482
  14. I went with a classic style rear skirt from MSA with a European bumper (no rubber). I think it only took a week or so when I ordered mine.
  15. What's the part number for these adapters? Just like what everyone else has been saying, if you don't have the part number they'll tell you they don't have them.
  16. Close' date=' but Heavy Z had a scoop from a '69 Mercury Cougar on his car. I know this because I asked him about before.[img']http://album.hybridz.org/data/500/8301z5t.jpg[/img]
  17. That's the hood scoop that I think would look really nice on a Z.
  18. What about an S-10 V8 swap? You could pick one up fairly cheap and put in an LT1 for not to much dough I was watching one of those weekend Power Block shows the other week and they were doing a complete swap for less than 10K (including truck, engine, upgrades). I'm sure you could do it much cheaper. http://www.jagsthatrun.com/Pages/Chevrolet_S-10_V-8.html
  19. Here's a link to a page from Pete Paraska's web site that includes a dimensioned drawing. If you search on this site you will find a bunch of information regarding subframe connectors.http://alteredz.com/structuralmods.htm
  20. Mine should be here next week. I was using a Taurus Fan, but now I need a little extra clearance and this one should give me what I need. If I still need more cooling power I'll add a couple of 12 inchers between the AC Condensor and the radiator. I wonder if fabbing up some type of shroud would make it work better? I know that a shroud forces air to be pulled through the radiator, but when the fan is mounted directly to the radiator is it necessary? There are a couple of posts where people talk about the Taurus Fans working better when the shrouds are sealed to the radiator.
  21. Looks like your doing a good job on the restoration, but I wouldn't put your 357TT in this car (your probably just joking anyway). I'm sure you'll find a suitable home for the TT anyway...maybe you already have and haven't told us yet.
  22. There's a long thread discussing these headers that Pete started a while back. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=103407
  23. I don't know if you found this thread, but this talks about what I did to my Z. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=102085
