  1. BTW, how should I splice my wires together? Should I use heat seal connectors like these: http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/Product/showCustom-0/Pr-p_Product.CATENTRY_ID:2007739/c-10101/p-2007739/Ne-600002086/N-111+600002086/tf-Browse/sct-body/s-10101/th-StoreCatalogDisplay/ss-10101 Thanks, Bart
  2. Has anyone tried this Coldheat Soldering Tool? Here's a link to some more information: http://www.coldheat.com/products.php It almost sounds too good to be true.
  3. Keep us updated Gary. I've got the 3 port Kaminari front air dam and European bumpers; and I will probably go with the fiberglass side and rear skirts and classic fiberglass spoiler. Curious to see how you do your side skirts (I think they're the same one's I'm looking at getting). -Bart
  4. Tim, Do you have the details that John is looking for?
  5. Gary, Is the paint your going to use a metallic or a pearl, and will you paint your car before or after installing the Aero kit? I would think it would be better to paint them separately, but some people think that everything needs to be installed on the car to get them to match properly (at least with certain paints). I'm surprised to hear the aero kit lines up well, everything else I've heard talks about how poorly they fit. I guess you got lucky and got a good one:shock: .
  6. Thanks Guy, No, the engine hasn't been "warmed up"...yet. You never know what I may do in the future, but for now it's the same as it was in Tim's car.
  7. Here's the latest pic. http://home.earthlink.net/~570z/images/almost.JPG The headers are installed, as well as the transmission mount and driveshaft. Basically I just need to finish up the wiring, and add fluids. The wiring is a big PITA:bonk: .
  8. Hanns, You've got to stop by my house some weekend. I'm just off the 15 a few exits north of Lake Elsinore. Definitely an awsome ride:rockon: -Bart
  9. I applaud your efforts as well and I remember watching Swede racing many years ago. I have a special needs child and she loves cars. I take her to auto events whenever I can and she enjoys seeing "hot cars". Sometimes people offer to let her sit in their cars, and she gets a big thrill out of it. Sometimes the cars are so nice, I can't convince her to sit in them; part of this is probably because I always make sure she knows that she's not allowed to touch the cars (without permission). I'm sure my car won't be as nice as yours, but if you do any events in the Southern California area I would be willing to participate with my car as well. Keep up the good work, Bart
  10. Hypertek, The fiberglass bumpers are definitely very light. Call MSA, and talk with them about it. Since your in SoCal, you can avoid the shipping costs by picking them up yourself. As Owen said, the shipping cost is high because of the volume not the weight.
  11. I agree with Larry. First off welcome to HybridZ, all the information you are looking for will be here. Secondly, the questions you are asking have already been asked and the information is here just waiting for you to search for it. Use the search and enter things like 327, 400, LT1, LS1, T56, R200. You will find just about everything you're looking for. After you review all the data, you will be better educated about your options. If you still have questions that you can't find the answer for, then ask them. It makes it a lot easier if you do some research first.
  12. They took the fastest hot wheels they tested and raced them against a Dodge Viper on a hill somewhere around Lake Tahoe. The myth was that a toy car could beat a full size car using just gravity. They tried to setup a quarter mile, but they couldn't get the track for the hot wheels to lay flat, so they cut it down to 400 feet. The hot wheel car started out quicker, but the Viper caught up and won all the races.
  13. I bought my Z thinking that I would be installing a 250 GTO body onto it (as some of you may know, there are many companies producing these kits). After much research and deliberation, I decided not to do it on this Z...but I still may at some point in the future. This one looks very good:2thumbs:
  14. Hey, has anyone tried the fan cooling described in the link that Larry posted? It sounds like a pretty good alternative to a hood vent that will allow an engine to run cool when the car is stopped.

    Getting there

    It's going in nicely.

    Going in

Here's the LT1/T56 on the hoist going in the engine bay
  17. Trying to protect the newly painted engine bay before the LT-1/T-56 is dropped in
  18. Thanks Justin. I posted quite a bit of information in regards to painting my engine bay, you can look through all my posts and find lots of information and pictures. I've also posted up pic's and info at the web site in my signature below. -Bart
  19. After reading this thread I understand more about the spacer plates. If I'm understanding this correctly, what they really are doing is raising the chassis. The crossmember stays the same height and the chassis is raised one half inch above it. Because the engine is bolted to the front crossmember, the engine will sit lower in regards to the chassis. I didn't install these, and my question is do you think I need to? I think I would prefer not to have them, unless there is some compelling reason I don't know about. Hood clearance isn't an issue with my install and as Dan pointed out "They do mess with your front roll center height".
  20. I agree, it looks like it was meant to be there. I've got the engine hooked up to a T-56 6-speed manual transmission.
