  1. I've already contacted the seller, and he seems like a nice guy. He's not Dave from Arizona Z, but he said that he's a "Z car nut from way back". I don't know what the status is of the repro of Poundz90h9's hood but the last post says N/M. Does that mean it's not happening? I actually like this hood better because it has the same look on the front with the additional cowl induction type opening. I'm thinking that if enough people are interested maybe we can approach him about doing a group buy for us HybridZer's.
  2. I really like that hood. I wonder who made it, the seller's location is Mesa, AZ; is this from Dave at Arizona Z????
  3. Hey Darius, Glad to see you posting here. Any time I talk to people about putting a V8 in a 240Z, either your name gets mentioned and/or your video. Whenever anyone talks about the insane 240Z V8 video on the net, we all know they're talking about your video. Your site and video helped motivate me to get a Z and drop in an LT1.
  4. As promised in my last thread, here's a .wav file of how my engine sounds: http://home.earthlink.net/~570z/images/570z.wav I haven't revved it up too much yet, but just wait til it hits the ground:-D .
  5. Thanks John, it is hard to protect the paint when installing the motor ond other bits. Here's a pic of how I attempted to protect mine while I was installing the engine and transmission:http://home.earthlink.net/~570z/images/LT1_install_1.JPG I still managed to get a small nick in the paint:shock: , but thats to be expected. The paint isn't perfect, and I will hold a higher standard when I paint the exterior. Wick Humble's How to Restore Your Datsun Z-Car was a big help on reinstalling everything, especially the suspension and steering.
  6. I'm using seats from a Miata on my Z as well, but my interior is a big mess right now and I only have the drivers seat in so far. The headers were custom made by Tim240Z and I purchased his complete setup including engine, transmission, rear end, etc. I am actually interested in possibly adding AC in the future, but I'm sure there will be installation issues and likely more cooling needed. I don't have a wiring diagram, and I really need to get one myself:icon11: . It's always easy to do things differently if you could do them over, but in the grand scheme of things I think I would do it the same.
  7. Ed, You have any pic's you can post?
  8. I routed my wiring, mounted the PCM to the firewall with a new PCM bracket made for a 94 Z28, and installed the exhaust. I'm very happy with how it looks and sounds. I'm going to try and record the sound of the engine and post that later. I still need to finish plumbing the brakes, and then I can hit the streets:icon52: . http://home.earthlink.net/~570z/images/finishedEngine1.JPG http://home.earthlink.net/~570z/images/finishedEngine2.JPG http://home.earthlink.net/~570z/images/finishedEngine3.JPG
  9. Does anyone know if this tank would be a good candidate for a swap in my 73 240Z? I know people are using the LS1 tank, but this would be an LT1 tank. Here's a link to one on ebay that I'm looking at: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7964716414&category=33556 It would be if it would work, because my engine is also from a 94 Z-28 .
  10. Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't want to do business with someone that claims their selling me something for $85 and then wants $150 to ship it to me. If he will allow someone to pick it up for $200, that should be the "real" selling price. It makes me wonder what other unethical business practices he may subscribe to... This seller has 442 people that have left negative feedback for him:twak:
  11. I'm seriously considering doing the same update to my Z. Although others have posted information about their conversions, please post your installation details and results as well.
  12. I got the same email. Of course this is not be confused with John Washington and Reaction Research located in Arizona. Dave didn't seem to be doing that much fiberglass as of late, in fact when I called to talk with him about his 250 GTO kit he offered to sell the molds to me for a couple grand:shock: .
  13. Bart' date=' Congratulations, your hard work paid off. Sorry I wasn't more help but there was no carburetor involved. But it looks like my visit didn't distract you enough to keep you from finishing the job. First drive isn't far off!! Hanns[/quote'] Glad you were able to drop by, come back anytime. My daughter loved watching your DVD, and is asking me when I'm going to be racing:shock: . BTW, I'm looking for a plug for the oil level sensor in the oil pan of my LT1. If anyone can be of any help, please let me know (it's not a standard NPT thread).
  14. Here's a pic from Tim's web site of one of his custom made headers: http://tim240z.iwarp.com/cgi-bin/i/images/header_odd_coated.jpg My car is now running and these headers are excellent! I think Tim put a lot of work into getting the maximum performance possible while still allowing necessary access (plugs, oil filter, etc). The tolerances are very tight, with just enough clearance at the mounts, steering, and frame. There have been several people that have talked about having a major header company interested in making headers for our V8 Z's. Let's see if this one pans out:eek2: .
  15. I think the boxes you are referring to, indicate a users level of reputation:twisted: . Most people have no reputation (grey box), while some post whores have a reputation that will make them "become famous soon enough". Move your cursor on the box to see the verbiage:icon52:.
  16. Worked more on the wiring on Saturday, but couldn't figure it all out. I gave Tim a call Saturday evening and he was gracious enough to fill in the gaps that were preventing me from getting her running. Based on the data I got from Tim I switched my fuel pump and completed correctly wiring the engine into my Datsun wiring harness. The first attempt to start her up on Easter Sunday brought my beast to life. If the open headers wasn't enough for my neighbors, I'm sure my shout of joy was. Cheers to Tim and everyone here at HybridZ that helped me get my car where it is now:cheers:. There's still a long way to go, but getting her started is a big milestone that I've really been looking forward to:D .
  17. I will be there, with or without my Z:tongue: . I'd be up for a HybridZ get together Friday or Saturday evening.
  18. Thanks for your positive comments:) . Actually, the job isn't winding up being that difficult. I unwrapped the Datsun wiring harness in the engine compartment, to separate out the actual wires for the engine from the rest of the harness (headlights, turn signals, etc.). I'm doing this process the way it is described in the JTR manual. Tim has already cleaned up the LT1 harness, so it should be relatively easy to connect the two together. I'm not sure about the Painless harness, I guess it all depends on your abilities and desire. I know some people at this site have gone that route (especially with the LS1 swaps), but they are rather expensive. The JTR Chevrolet TPI & TBI Engine Swapping manual does a good job of discussing the pro's and con's of getting an aftermarket wiring harness. My problem is my lack of experience with wiring and engine electrical. I'm use this as a learning opportunity and therefore I want to do as much of it myself as possible.
  19. I assume you mean the PDP-3, I can't find a PDR-3 at the web site.
  20. Okay, okay, I sense a little sarcasm there . Harbor Freight carries the cold heat soldering iron, and it specifically states about it being light-duty or occassional automotive; so I think I'll get their industrial soldering gun (costs less too). Now about that pocket fisherman...
  21. You could be right:redface: . I currently don't have a soldering gun, and I remembered seeing a commercial for this thing. Should I just get a regular soldering gun?
