  1. More like a 360 modena to me
  2. They use it when "emergency occurs", not all the time.
  3. From what I heard, drifting was invented by Japanese delivery persons that work in mountain areas. They use drifting techniques to prevent running out of road thus going into a cliff when emergency occurs.
  4. I used a metal rod to pry the alternator, plus some mallet banging and it came off the hinge today Thanks for the help, problem solved
  5. John, If he doesn't come back and checkout this site often, IT'S HIS LOSS.
  6. Interesting, is the 5.6 Nissan engine all aluminium or with iron block?
  7. If I have the money and I have to choose between a tranny and car of my dreams, I'd get the dream car. Besides, the Lotus will go up in value once you repaired it. Any way, MORE BETTER GOOD CARS = RIGHT CHOICE But make sure it's as described. If the deal ever fell thru, pass the info onto some one else(wink wink)
  8. Those 3 bolts were what I removed, adjustment arm bolt : 1, hinge bolts : 2 and I shaked it, pulled it, hit it with a rubber mallet...it swings but not just won't come off.
  9. Hiya. I was trying to remove the alternator on my 280Z L28. I got it to the point where it swings freely on a hinge(the hinge uses 2 bolts on each end as the axis), I remove the 2 bolts but the alternator just wont come off from the hinge. I searched, but no help. My factory service manual says "remove all wiring harness and everything associated with engine to remove alternator" which is kinda retarded. help.....
  10. What car is it from? 5.6 liter engine, from Japan? really?
  11. "Sports Car International" listed 240Z as top 10 sports car of the 70's; It was 2nd place, under a Ferrari.
  12. Yeah, how do you do that? It can be done if the object can be lifted and hanged, but obviously you can't hang a car with a driver in it? So how can it be done? Thanks

  14. Just had a thought, why not make it a bet and make the idiot pay for YOUR parts. He wither will back off and let you win, or end up paying for your stuff
  15. I feel really sorry for both of you. All the time, money and works, gone. And that trucker didn't even stop?!?! He should be in jail. These crash stories are the reason why I got 2 Z's even though I only restore one at a time.
  16. There's a auto parts place called "Lordco", it's a chain similar to NAPA. me : Do you have choke assembly for Q-jet carburetors? guy : Those cars don't have carburetors, they are all FI. me : What do you mean? A Q-jet is a carburetor. guy : No, all the Infinity cars now are FI. me : What Infinity car? A Q-jet is a carburetor, you know what a Q-jet is right? (after about one minute of talking) guy : Ohhhhhh....you said Q-something, I thought you meant Q45 Infinity. me : ..... The guy did provide good help though, I ended up buying a bunch of K&N air filter stuff. BTW, Lordco and NAPA are competitors here, which explains the similar amplitude of Dontknowwhattheyaretalkingaboutness.
  17. Simply violent http://videos.streetfire.net/Player.aspx?fileid=7C2FE870-129C-48CC-833F-FF3D584C8FE5&p=0
  18. typical street racing video of a RSX vs an S2000, but they added some sound which I found very funny. http://videos.streetfire.net/Player.aspx?fileid=BC385D6F-44BD-4AB3-9072-81C967F954BC&p=4
  19. SR240Z, That is the best Z video on the internet that I've seen. The speed with which it pulled away from the camera car on the highway was incredible, it's like a hidden rocket was lit or something. The passenger telling you to stop in the end was priceless I never gave any thought to turbo 4 cylinder Z, but the first time I set foot into this part of the forum...man, this video changes how I look at things. Does it save a lot of weight by going the turbo 4-cyl route? I can tell it's definitely not cheap.
  20. Dave240Z, thanks for the great info, gotta love the piezo injectors.
  21. I heard somewhere that diesel engines use high pressure injector to atomize fuel. Some of those injectors use VERY high pressure like 20000psi IIRC? I recall a 30-06 generates 50000psi of peak pressure in the gun chamber and a .22 rimfire generates around 20000psi....It seemed impossible to generate that kind of rapid response pressure via mechanical means. So how does a diesel injector produce that amount of pressure? Or did I remember the figures wrong? Thnx
  22. I am restoring my Z and those lines have to go sooner or later. I got a question from reading the thread : what is "AN" system? Is it some kind of unconventional break system, and how does it differ?
  23. You'll have to find a compatible Z that's willing to donate bone marrow.
