  1. Pictures are worth a thousand words, and can help us better identify what you mean by rippled....
  2. Thanks guys. I'll check out the stock faceplate today
  3. That looks like a Blowthrough carb set up, or Turbo ITB's. It looks completely fabricated. I don't think you could modify the original intake to look like that
  4. I've been searching for about an hour and it did me no good. Motorsport sells some kind of a kit, but I called them and it's not the right size. I just want to see some pictures of an aftermarket stereo/radeo installed on a 280zx and also the plans/schematics you used. I'm going to try and cut a faceplate out of some aluminum and spray it black. I'll also need to fab up some sort of bracket to hold the darn thing in place.
  5. Is that intake mani of your own design? Looks like it's coming along nicely.
  6. flatblack, Have you dynoed this setup? I'm curious as to what a flattop turbo motor can make, while still being safe and not detonating. Like how much PSI and if you've changed anything since the build
  7. I believe that's the oil cooling line if i'm not mistaken
  8. doesnt soun dlike a dimmer problem, but like one of the electrical contacts is sticking or something. I'm no expert either, but I would start with checking the wiring connections for corrosion, especially if you've never checked them before
  9. More factors depend on the readout of your speedo, including what diff you are using and the tranny, along with the tire size compared to stock. If its just a matter of tire size, google "tire size calculator" and you'll find one that tell you the percent your speedo is off by.
  10. I have a lower VIN than you, but mines one of the first hundred of 260's made. Check the frame rails, they should be shorter, or just weigh it. Should be around 2300 if i'm not mistaken, if it is a series 1. Maybe you have a 'tweener, with a mix of both series 1 and 2 features
  11. for a stock setup the mechanical is good. What the PO did on my car was to delete the mechanical fuel pump and just run an electrical, low pressure fuel pump from autozone. It's noisy, but nothing that doesn't get drowned out when I hit the gas. My plan is to upgrade to a quiet electrical fuel pump with a setup similar to stonehenge69's. An electrical pump run into a filter then into a FPR to get it down low. This is simply done to make it quiet. But the mechanical fuel pump will hold up even for triple carbs, so for simplicity stick with it. http://www.zcar.com/forums/read/1/2100049/page=1
  12. Well start by getting the service manual so you're not firing into the dark. http://xenons30.com/ Unless you plan on doing the rebuild yourself I think a set of SU's with intake etc. wil run you about $150-$200 depending on the condition, and that's the high end.
  13. I've changed a head gasket and then drove cross country 2 days later. The rings probably won't go. Just get the head milled to freshen it up a bit. Don't go shaving a ton off
  14. Thanks guys, how are they implemented? I saw a thread in the vendors forum, but I don't understand how they are wired in.
  15. Are the bearings/journals in the right way? Would also help to check for clearences before you spin it. That may have causes mircoscratches in the crank
  16. The motor is being built currently. Pretty much stock bottom end, but the head is port/polished, stage 4 MSA cam, triple webers, and headers. Also the MSA Alum radiator. E88 head on a L28 bottom It is stock points, I know I need to upgrade to electrical ignition as I'm probably being limited by the points dizzy
  17. I know everyone tends to do teh e12-80 dizzy from the later model z's and zx's and also the crane/petronix upgrades to solid point What else is out there? I want something that will rev all the way to 8k with no problem. For some reason, my car kept dying out at 5500 on the dyno today. AFR was good and fuel pressure was good, leads me to believe spark may be the answer to higher reving. Engine dynoed was a stock 260z with the stock distributor. found this from google search: http://www.zcar.com/forums/read/1/1857836
  18. very nice find, comes with enough parts to add up to the price you paid.
  19. Hey I saw that in person yesterday. It's a bringback of the old style in the early 50's. It uses the same engine as the S63 I believe, a little over 500hp
  20. I think I've met all the requirements, and I see people who aren't that are posting in the classifieds. Does my account need to be unlocked or something?
