  1. They look like integra Type R recaro's. Just more expensive. You could get a clean pair of type R recaro seats for one of those. Although I'm not sure about the size of the recaro's.
  2. What does the FSM say? Need a copy? xenons30.com
  3. I found both fenders in a junkyard in damn good condition(surface rust, easily repairable dings) for under $120 both, unfortunately one had the holes for the side logo and the other didn't.
  4. Did you call MSA? It looks like they have a twice pipes kit for the stock manifold. Either way the only problem I could see is the pipe diameter not matching up, which any good exhaust shop can fix right?
  5. Just for clarification, I'm running triple webers, not EFI. Although you can run carbs on a p79/p90 you *might* run into sealing issues with the injector notches. most likely not though since a ton of members here are running SU's on their p-series. As for the mechanical fuel pump I can't help you there, my car came with an electric pump, and I prefer that to my friends mechanical one. Less clutter in the engine bay, and a quieter ride. I would put an electric one on if I were you, but that's just me. If you are on a budget and got the tools though do what blue72 did. My fuel set up cost me like $230. That's the pump, filter and FPR. did you buy a long block or did it come with intake/exhaust manifolds on it?
  6. http://www.zhome.com/rnt/L28conversion/head.html http://datsunzgarage.com/p79/ I was going to go this route, but I had an extra e88 laying around and just threw that on a flat-top. I'm getting about 10:1 according to that z engine calculator, and I've had no issues running 91 octane. I have retarded the timing a bit though. With the high quench chambers on the P79 I would think it would hold back the detonation even more than the open e88 chambers. Cam tower shims can be bought at MSA I think edit: found em http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/PEM02/10-1151
  7. For how long was it not running before you "just got it running"? And what major work have you done to it to get it to run?
  8. No. It'll be fine. I had a rebuilt long block (read honed/new pistons/rings/bearings and all the other work that machine shops do) and had it in my front yard under my carport (but still exposed to the elements) wrapped in about 4 layers of heavy duty trashbags while bolted to a shitty engine stand. Sat there with no liquids (oil, coolant) in it for about 12 to 14 months. It was turned over once every few months by my brother who wanted to make sure it wasn't seizing. Dropped it in my ZX about 4 months ago and drove that baby to Florida to break her in. Now you say it wasn't fully covered in trashbags like mine was. Hope that you taped off everything, and no serious amounts of moisture got into the cylinders. That would be when you get problems I would think.
  9. Why are you using the L26? A full running L28 longblock can be had for $150. Just wondering...
  10. If I had your car I wouldn't get steel wheels either. Your car looks like a beauty from those pics. Love the louvers and that body kit, MSA type 2 right? I'm thinking I'll need at least 265/40/17 in the rear to get that flush look you have with the 275's
  11. you mean the Rota RB-R's right? Not really the style I'm going for, but if that's the fit on a ZX then those are the exact numbers want. I'm pretty sure -13 offset on a 9" wide rim is equal to 4 in backspacing(1/2 an inch plus the 4 inches). and the -19 offset for the 9.5 inch with 4" backspacing (.75 inches plus the 4" backspace) What size tires are on those if you don't mind me asking.
  12. Thank's guys that's what I'm looking for. to sticky280zx: I figured it would be almsot impossible to keep the same set and have the same look on both cars. I guess these tires will be just for my ZX then. to purepontiackid: the 245/45 was for the 16" rims, the 245/40/17 are for the 17" and according to tirerack.com it should fit. I think i'm going to get 17x9.5 for the rear and 17x8.5 for the front with 225/45/17 on it. 4" backspacing all around if you say it will fit. I don't plan on doing any more to the zx I like the ride as it is with the tokico springs and HP's in the rear and illumina's in the front.
  13. After doing much searching for the "proper tire" (to keep the speedo mostly the same reading), I realized that not a lot of tire companies make 245/45/16 tires which makes the speedo off by only .25%. (Calculated using the miata tire size calculator) On that note a popular size that does show up in all the most of the brands I'm looking at is 245/40/17. This actually has even less error with only a .13% difference. Now the main reason I wanted some 16" rims was to swap them to my 260z whenever I wanted for whatever reason. I know that 17" on an S30 chassis are pretty close , if not impossible to fit without flares/cutting the fender in that size (245/40/17). Should I just get the 17" and keep them on the ZX? I'm almost certain that there will be enough room in the rear for that size, and if I stick with 8" wide in the front with 225 width tires, I should be able to keep my full steering. Anyone want to chime in with their opinion?
  14. Is anyone running 16x8,9,10... Diamond racing rims on their ZX? I want to know if 16x10's and 4"backspacing with 245/45/16 tires will fit under the wheel well flush with rolled fenders. I do have tokico springs and tokico HP struts in the rear. I know that some folks on this site have ridiculous sized rims (pontiackid and I think knights-something-or-other) and I do recall hearing that 4"backspacing is the sweet spot, but most of them are talking about 15" if i'm not mistaken. Pics are greatly appreciated. Mods if this is in the wrong place, feel free to move it to the wheel/tire section.
  15. What size and style are those Diamond Racing Rims? Pro-series? Looking to get a pair myself, 16x9 or 16x10 with 4" backspacing Very Nice car btw
  16. HeatRaveRdid you try to make your car look like the mach 5? I noticed the 5 on the side... pretty sweet
  17. Is this a Z or ZX? your name says 280z while you sig says 1979... on a ZX is shouldn't be a problem
  18. If you have any kind of mechanical background, you could drop in an L28 motor yourself for about $300. Why would you put in a smaller engine in the first place. I'll drive down from Daytona to help you if you need to.
  19. Holy Crap those pictures are huge. Anyway it looks like a nice Z. didn't see much rust on the rocker panels or underside and what rust it did have is easily fixable. Like the blacked out rims too. Nice find, just hope it isn't some cheapo paint ob that has rust trapped underneath it. Although it looks decent from the pics
  20. Also completely depends on how you drive. Drag, Track, street, all put different amounts of strain on a diff. This honestly can't be answered. I would love to see a build thread as well.
  21. And here I was about to spend $150 on some foam things for my carbs when I can just spend $30
  22. Why pay for a haynes manual when you could download the FSM from xenons130.com?
  23. When I had all the bolts out of my suspension I went to a local "Bolt" store (that's all they sold, nuts and bolts) and just replaced everything with 12.9 supergrade stuff. I brought the guy the bolts, and he would go and get them for me. He said those are comparable, if not better than the ones I had brought in. Hope this helps
