Joe - email issue will be fixed this week. Here is the source of info for the upgrade I mentioned before: http://www.atlanticz.ca/zclub/techtips/alternatorswap/index.html MSA sells a plug n play kit - I have to see if this works on the 260z http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/LNP1/12-4067

Thanks Jeff. All this car is missing is AC. It was great driving it about 100 miles a few days ago.....quite compared to my Z. Felt like I was just driving a normal car. Can't wait until it gets all new bushings...then it will be a blast to drive.

Updated look: We put my old wheels from my first Z on the 260 this weekend and we think it looks great! Wheels are 17x8 0 offset and they clear the stock spring perch. Next spring we will install lowering springs and new struts. Also on the fun run this weekend, the alternator died. First upgrade will be installing the 280zxt alternator and ditching the voltage regulator in the stock 260.

Neveragain, I am right in NYC and just took apart a 82 280zxt with 63,000 miles. Engine sat up for 10 years and is in need of a rebuild. I also have the matching 5 speed with drive shaft and harness. Send me a pm if you are interested. Check out NYZCC.COM & CTZCC.COM both local Z clubs if you didn't already know.

I had the body shop strip where they needed to weld. When I got the car back home, I seam sealed the rest and plan on one day getting the car to a place that does undercoating for truck beds. Your biggest problem will be welding and not burning through the thin floors. So do not final prep the top part of the floors until you have the rails up. Hope that helps alil.

Turbo donor was stripped last weekend and engine will need a full rebuild. So it has been sold and the money went towards buying back the L30ET short block I started to build last year. I think we are going to start with swapping in a R-200 from the 280zxt and then work on putting in the Z32 trans. Heavy duty trans behind the stock L26!

robello stroker engine vs home built stroker
EvilC replied to intangible3's topic in Nissan L6 Forum
I agree with spending $10k is crazy for 400hp L series engine. Also you can build it yourself or hell - get a junkyard or cheap 280zxt and swap that engine in. Like Cygnusx1 said spend sometime searching here on the L28ET swaps. I have found my last two donor cars both under 70,000 miles for less than $200. There are plenty of people here making 350rwhp on engines that have over 100,000 miles on them. Intake, turbo, inter-cooler and other supporting mods will get you to where you want to be. Doubt it will come anywhere near $10k. I am building my first engine EVER and it is a 3.0 L. This engine is setup to be a 3 liter turbo engine. Like stated, start a thread and take your time I am sure you will be able to get through it. Now if money isn't a problem and you don't have the time to do it yourself...then call Dave and buy a turn key! -
Advice/Suggestions on places to live on the East Coast?
EvilC replied to EvilC's topic in Non Tech Board
Yeah Mike, I already know where you stand on the subject. -
So who would have thought I would be updating this thread, funny how life goes. So I bought back the parts I sold for this build besides the head because the buyer dumped his project and picked up a nice 350z instead. During the last few months, the gf has stated she wanted a turbo Z to drive....so picked this car up - and now the turbo build moves on. I had another 82 280zxt donor I stripped this past weekend but the engine was sold to a local club member so now I have to search for a new head. Again not going to be a rush project as this 260z runs and drives great! So I am back in the L6 forum!

Glad to hear the car is working out for you. The car did go to a good home and I know I will see it around on the road soon. Dave is right, another Z car local in our club!

Advice/Suggestions on places to live on the East Coast?
EvilC replied to EvilC's topic in Non Tech Board
Thanks for the info guys! Cherry all good info and exactly what I was looking for. We have plenty of time to know what we are doing but doesn't hurt looking ahead. At 27, I would think a good 2-3 years is enough time to figure out where to end up. Winter is coming....now I wish I was in a warmer place! -

Well the 29th is the day after my Dad's Bday....I might take a ride over to watch you behind the wheel. I would bring my Z but I am having an issue with the clutch and need to remove the trans out of the car I am sure it is a spacer I forgot to install behind the slave. O well, would have been fun to have 2 v8 cars there for the day. Hopefully next year we can get you up for a few events. My car, yours and Joe's can be the local LSx crew. I know there is a LS2 around but I have not seen or know the person. I think he is part of the NJZCC.

Very nice read! I remember the car few years back when I visited Ken down in FL. Last winter while working on it made me want to go with the 280yz rear fenders and such, I really like the look. With the car having power windows, doors, mirrors and hatch....this thing is a blast to drive. Keeping enjoying your dream car!

Car sounds great in the vid and has lots of power! I love the look of this car. The swap was fun and glad Chas is enjoying every moment of it.

So big weekend and I will start with this picture: The gf (Marsha) expressed interest in owning a Z car after our last club bbq and wanted a turbo car. We decided since I already had the #1905, I would keep it and refund the deposit on the car since it had been 4 months and the buyer had not picked up the car and closed the deal. I also have a 82 zxt with 63,000 miles……perfect project. So while getting the car ready to be moved to the body shop, Will expressed extreme interest in #1905. He had been looking for a new shell for a project because his car was shot. I knew of a 260z that had been bought by a friend over the weekend and it was offered to me before he offered it up for sale to turn profit. Hmm, an all original early 260z in our future? Went to check out the car and after an hour of going over it, I was going home with it and surprising her with it! A few phone calls - horse trading and both cars went to new homes. So I drove the car home from NJ to the shop in the BX and told her to stop by. She fell in love and has now named it Baby Z because of how it looks next to EVIL Z. So details on the car – Early 260z build date 1/74. CA car with 91,xxx miles. Flat tops were ditched for rebuilt 3 screw SUs and still has the 4 speed behind it. This is the first Z I have driven/own that everything works. Seat belt buzzer, defrost, radio, heat…..I mean everything. Car starts right up and drives well. Even had all the original jute and clips that hold down the carpet. Minor rust on the floors, two spots really because since the car came to NY it has been outside. One of the weather seals are leaking and both jutes were soaked with water. Paint has been touched up in spots but retains some original paint throughout the car. Dash is cracked of course but least of our problems. But we love this car! The car won’t be painted for a few years but will get head light covers, front air dam, wheels and a mirror. We are planning a turbo swap but will wait until all parts are gathered. For now she can just drive and enjoy the car. I think I enjoy driving it more than EVIL Z! Pictures:

Calling all 240/260/280Z owners near NYC
EvilC replied to wiring specialties's topic in S30 Series - 240z, 260z, 280z
Well keep in mind, the tranny mounting is different in the 240/260 and the late 260/280. Also the "wiring" ties into the body harness which again is different through out the years of the s30 chassis. What is the end goal here? Maybe a few of us local guys can help out. But you should probably pull for a stock car. Most of us here on HybridZ who are in the NYC have done some custom work already. Stop by NYZCC.COM also CTZCC.COM is another local Z club. -

Raleigh, NC I hear is really nice and a place I plan to visit next year. I have a buddy from college who has been there for the last 4 years and loves it. He told me he would never move back to the tri-state. -
Nice, I will be waiting.
