help. ls1 wont start (and i want to burn it right now)
EvilC replied to aziza z's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
If you want an easy plug up harness then you have to pay like I did. If you know somone or is like Vinh, it is the biggest waste of money in the swap. Hmmm....I bought it and Vihn helped me....haha!! -
g-nose? Ever think about selling it? I think I will buy this fairlady...would love a gnose....lets talk

Few things, make sure the PCM is getting power while "cranking" or "turning over" the engine. You case sounds pretty close to the problem I had. If the PCM is not getting its 12v then motor will not kick. I would start at your starter, making sure everything is grounded. Then check the injectors to make sure they are pulsating. Then trace your ignition and PCM.....or it could be the battery! My first new battery only last 2 days in the Z. Hope this helps. Good luck...I have been waiting for your Z!!! -
Possible to start your own thread, so I can see some pics? Would like to see more of your Fairlady. Plus I know a guy with some parts if you are missing anything. Clive

Well, I hope you prove me wrong and save that car. Ebay is a very up and down market...you get a car that people won't buy and sometimes you get people like yourself who plan to save these cars. I think saving a car is def a great thing but for people to use it as what they think their car is worth isn't so good. Rust is rust, no matter if it is a fairlady or not. It may be worth $500 for just because it is a fairlady or more to a certain person who has a car to fix it or is great with body work. As of right now, $2000 would be pushing the limit if this car was a lhd Z. Is the cool facter worth $1000? To some yes, to others no. Like Sparky says....most cars has to be looked over long and hard...rust is always hiding. Would I pay $2000 for this car? Prob if the rust wasn't much worse from what I see and I would not plan to do a resto.

Does need work...... glad you posted the pics of the car.

PDK Fabrication strut braces install
EvilC replied to ezzzzzzz's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
I would believe it is to serve in a bending moment for the rear strut bar but in a twisting/bending movement does it really do anything....I think no. This may be the reason why it was removed from the "later production" bars. From the pic, it looks like it is just on the surface of the bar and not welded to the inner surface like it should/could. I guess I am thinking of pop sticks in an A formation. If twisted, the A for would hold up more than a V shap. If our Z's never really experience the full twisting force required to break the A shape, then the V shap would be fine. Hope I make some sense...I am rushing to type this before the boss walks by again..lol -
wow, love when the subi is in flight! Crazy guys.

Hope the admins can sticky this one for me. GTR2 BMW GTR Championship-----Stalker's Server We are going to run a Championship Series, 5 races, your best 4 finishes will be used for the final points calculation, so you need to make 4 of the 5 races. We will be racing Sunday night, practice begins at 9:00, qualification starts at 9:30, be on time. Those not in time for qualification will not be able to race the points race that night. 10 minute qualification session. Race length will be 30 minutes, or a number of laps that will allow the race to run about 30 minutes. Race location will be announced 1 week prior via email and this thread. Point Earnings: *1st---50 points *2nd---40 points *3rd---30 points *Finish the race---20 points Point Penalties: *Unwarranted contact----5 points *Contact resulting in other car loosing positions or being damaged to a point the car has to finish the race “off paceâ€----10 points *Taking another car out of race----20 points *Generally speaking keep the racing clean, it's the overtaking cars responsibility to make a clean pass. No steadfast rules here, but if two cars are fighting for position going into a turn the lead car has rightof way unless the overtaking car's front bumper is at or beyond the front quarter panel of the car being overtaken. If that is the case you're both just racing...Use TeamSpeak to communicate your position in relation to other cars on the track when the racing gets close. If you are being overtaken or want to allow someone to pass, hold your line, the overtaking car willfind a way around you. If you feel like being exceedingly kind, lifting on the throttle for a 2 second count on the next straight away will allow for an easy pass.If you are driving “off pace†be sure to call that out as traffic approaches you. Use your call sign,“toddo is off paceâ€, don't say “I'm off paceâ€, it may not be obvious to others who “I†is. Hit “tab†when joining the lineup so call signs are displayed, it helps to communicate if you knowwho's who. Replays will be used to determine a driver's fault. Todd is the judge and jury, his decisions are final, except for those directly involving him, those will have to be determined by another driver. If there is adispute and contact is made, wait until after the race, todd the complaint so he can review the replay. When the incident occurs, make a mental note of what lap you are on, where on the track it occurred, and if you know who was at fault. He doesn't want to review all 30 minutes of the playback. This is a great way to get some seat time behind your pc. The next posting down will be all the info you need to get started in the game and the series. 2/10/08 is the date we are shooting for to start the series! Come join us. Clive

9PM tonight guys, we are starting 30 min races! Come and show your skillz....I will ask the admins to sticky a whole new thread when I work out the details. PM me if you have any trouble.
-
Jasper, you are no more than 25 mins from me..... pm me your number so we can chat. I had the Z out today!
-
Jasper, very cool. You have to bring it up to NY this summer so I can check it out!

Mike, which bolts are you trying to find excatly? I think I still have the part number for the bolts that hold the cv's together, 12 is needed, correct? I first sourced all my bolts from the junk yard, every junkyard has big buckets of bolts. I was able to dig threw and find all the bolts I needed for the swap.

Seeing this makes me want to pick up a 510 wagon I found up here. Your car is looking good!
-
Here is what I got into my Q45 install Q45 Diff - $35 4 cv joints- $40 4 cv boots- $38 280z stubs- traded for them mas280 adapters- traded for them Technotoys front mount-$150 MM axles with stops- $360 AZC Uprights and MS bar- $550 Damn, really didn't see how expensive it was until I just added it up. Either way I am happy with it. Is it worth it if your car is just a DD? I don't think so....some guys here are running r-200 out of the 280z's with no problem. Hope this helps. Clive

Make sure the shop that does yout DS knows what they are doing. A bend or unbalanced shaft will drive you crazy! Mine still drives me crazy. Vibrations all through the car and be sure your length and angle is correct when getting it made.

LS based Z cars track times?
EvilC replied to Slammed68's topic in Gen III & IV Chevy V8Z Tech Board
That should be no problem with your wide tires! I hope to be at 450rwhp by summers end. Vinh....how does a l28et Fairlady sound? -
Tony D, when you are heading over....let me know....lol I can sell parts on the East Coast....credit cards are ready for the trip! lol Good info about the correct prices of the parts in question. I always tend to wonder....what is the mark up over the years of JDM parts. I saw Fairlady tail lights 240z, on Yahoo yesterday for $600 each! Just amazing to see people paying those kind of prices and I see often people referring to " back in the days" JDM were always expensive. I didn't think so. Clive

There is a set for sale in the ads. I think it is $650....give Brian a ring.
-
I was going to ask the same thing....because I tend to do that also. Jody, does your cam record to a disk or hard drive....reason I ask...I have a sony cam that records to dvd disk and it always shuts off in the car. i was thinking due to vibration but your cam never cut off. I missed some really good vids from the convention because mine just would not stay on. Anyway your car sounds great!

You know that feeling of pride while working on a project?
EvilC replied to 660Z's topic in Gen I & II Chevy V8 Tech Board
660Z, I know the feeling you are speaking of. What are your plans for that fuel line I see in the pic? Take a look at mine, kinda the same deal but a lot shorter. Clive -
When are you going to invite a New Yorker out to Tx?! lol, love the vids and the care sounds great.
