It all works right now! I'm sitting on it in my garge on the floor with my jump starter box hooked up for power, and all the bags air up. The compressor is in the seat-under it I guess? As for fitting in my car ?duno? I havn't tried yet.

I found an NPR I/C for $75, but it looked small, about 10 inches tall? I wear a 13, and it was much smaller than that. But it looked great! solid allum. thick, I think I need to hold out for a taller one?? isn't the one I want 14" tall?? -

Well after today you could call it 16 psi I was going down the highway and a Dodge Stelth came up and wanted some, man it felt so good to look over and motion "lets go!" we were doing about 65-70ish mph I dropped it to 4th and SEE YA!! man I left him so bad, I never pushed the car as hard as I did today! It was over 15 pounds more like a strong 16 maybe 17? I don't know I was going fast, after the spedo said 140 I did not look anymore!! yes 140!! The cas feels horrible at that speed! I pulled off the highway and the Stelth followed, we stopped and he said HOLY SH!T !! does that thing have a turbo? he asked how fast I was going I said I don't know I was'nt looking, he said he was doing 130 and I was pulling away from him. Man I'm so pumped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I swear to you all, I thought I would be writing to say I blew the car up! I just could not stop I was winning so bad, just before I let off I looked at the tack and I was almost at 6000 rpm in 5th man was it pulling. -
With the stock turbo injectors I could get about 270-ish miles to a tank of gas, Now with the 370cc's its down to 205-ish Now I may have had my foot in it?lol? since after I got the 370's I pumpped it up to 15lb boost...he he he he:2thumbs: I told the wife "no the mpg wont change"

I've got some sort of carbon fiber 2.5 straight through pipe at the back of the car(freind GAVE it to me) with straight pipe from the down pipe. I just put a "Cherry Bomb" in the middle of the car just under the seats, and it sounds pretty good! nice deep tone. Best $16.95 I ever spent.

I got a P90 head, will it be ALOT better with it on??
big-phil replied to big-phil's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
WOW!! could this be true, my n/a block could be stronger than the f54? somebody give me a "hoot-hoot" ...........boo-ya! -
When I put my Accell super coil on, it had weak spark sort of weak-strong-weak-strong, turned out the ground wire was loose(to the coil). That was with the 83 turbo dizzy though, but would'nt hurt to check those ground wires?

Well I found a turbo motor with a p90a head, and a bad turbo for $300, I'm thinking about getting it and putting the p90, and my turbo on it. Is a true turbo motor really THAT much better than what I've got? It would give me a chance to put my new clutch in. -

After my car was sputtering at 10 to 12 pounds of boost, I started doing everything I could think of to fix it. But this was interesting: my car has 169,000 miles (thats alot! for anyone who was wondering) I did a compression test--in the book for a 1978 164-178 psi is acceptable. With 169,000 miles my compression was no less than 170 in any cylinder, the average was 175psi....WOW!! What a motor those little Datsun people buit. And now that I fixed it (for now) and I am boosting strong to 15 pounds, I think I'll go back to the body work that I started before I found that $150 turbo motor.

I just messed my self. -
OK thanks, I've been trying to do the 3rd gear roll on at 3500rpm for ya, but it don't want to go over 12ish lbs boost. I think I also found an exhaust leak at the manifold on piston #1, I remenber now when putting the turbo manifold on I bent the gasket over on the #1 right under the thermostat housing. So I need to get a new gasket also. Awwwwwwww I don't want to take in apart AGAIN!

At first I thought while tunning the AFM for the larger injectors, that I fouled my plugs because I just started having a bad sputter the other day at about 4500 rpm or 10-12 pounds boost, so I replaced them, but that was not it. Plugs the pluge read good. Then I smelled gas this morning, and found a leaky injector, I bought 8 so replaced the bad one and thought that was it, no still sputtering. Then I saw that the silicone tube from turbo outlet to I/C plumbing had a bad crack so I replaced it, and thought that was it, no still sputtering. So then I replaced the I/C plumbing from the radiator hoses to 2 1/2" PVC, I thought maby it was ballooning, no still sputtering. Now it was running strong all the way to 15 pounds boost, for a couple days. I did make a 3 hour drive to pick up a P90 head, then 3 hours home (duh) I don't know if that had anything to do with anything, but when I punch it in any gear it gets to about 4500rpm, or 10-12 pounds boost, It starts sputtering. could it be Timming, I'm going to hook up the fuel pressure guage again to be sure all that checks out.

buy some of that gasket sheet stuff and make youe own If you have to, not the cork sheet, get that thinner stuff.

can't tell you why, but I first had a 81 dizzy with CAS on block, then changed to 83 dizzy with CAS inside, I had to change the shaft, so I had a drain pan under the pump thinking oil would drain out when I took the pump off. Very very little oil came out, just the oil in the pump itself drained, so to change the shaft, you don't have to drain the oil. I guess the pump is higher than the level in the pan? Hold on, I might of had it on ramps?????????? maby thats why??????? can't remember for sure if it was on the ramps????????

when I put the turbo oil pump and shaft into my 78, I thought "no problem" untill I tried to start it, the timming was off. Be very carful to get the timming right, you will know when its wrong, and you'll know when its right. I took the dizzy off, used a scew driver, or straight edge, and mark where the pump shaft point to the dizzy hole, both sides, and mark which side the line is on (its off set) Then drop the oil pump, put the other shaft in bolt the pump with 2 bolts get up and see if it lines up....unless you have help, then your help can tell you "yes" "no" it lines up. When its there bolt up your oil pump, don't forget the gasket! bolt your dizzy, have another beer, and your done. You **DO NOT** have to drain your oil to do this. have fun

I got a P90 head, will it be ALOT better with it on??
big-phil replied to big-phil's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
hey thanks ambersdad, I'm going to take it to a head shop where I got my rebuilt head, and have them do a pressure test on it, if its tight I just might put it on? But if I do want to sell I'll post here, and let you know. -
When puting the turbo on my motor I used a round tire air pressure guage, unscrew the bottom, put a fuel line on with hose clamp, run that to a tee to just after the fuel filter. I taped the guage to the outside of my windshield. worked great, only had it on for about a week. You should of seen me at night with the flashlight!..........classic

put my 370cc injectors in!! now tuning my AFM
big-phil replied to big-phil's topic in Turbo / Supercharger
bastaad525, next time I have the chance I will do the 3rd gear @ 3500rpm punch for ya and let you know, its funny I remember you saying it took 1.5sec to reach 14 psi. I tried that tonight but the car started sputering under boost. I think I fouled plugs while tuning the afm****bog after bog after bog untill it felt right*** OR I'm still to rich out of boost that its fouling plugs, It just started doing it tonight only in boost, so I'm going to get some new plugs, and maby go a couple more teeth leaner on the afm. Oh and my clutch might be slipping now? I have a new one, just don't look foward to putting it in.
