Definitly buy the book, I drove 26 hours both ways to get the car I bought off ebay Nov2004. What started as a simple engine swap turned in to the "While Im at it syndrom" because I started reading all these posts and getting Ideas. Thanks guys! But I bought this as a project to keep me busy in the cold winter months. Well, I sat in the GM crate motor yesterday will everything shiney and new attached. I must have sat out there for 2 hours just looking at it, went out behind the barn and took a leak then stared for another hour. Tomorrow I start getting the drivetrain lined up. This site is a wonderful tool. You can do it!

I'll add to this, he's a stand up guy and is always helpful with tech info. Never tries to shoo you off with a half-azz answer.

dladow, did your upper mount stick above the core support or were they the same height?
-
Just received my JTR radiator and mounts. My question is the upper mount sits about 1/2" above the core support. My hood is away being blasted and was wondering if Im going to have hood clearance issues (72 240)? Wanted to keep going with out waiting for the hood. I can put spacers on the lower mount to drop if necessary but hate to if its not needed. Thanks!

Just remember small claims court cost $ just to file. So if you do not have all your ducks in a row you will be out even more money. If you do go to court don't act like Matlock in front of the Judge. They will dislike you from the get go and its an uphill battle all the way. I have to go with Dr Hunt on this one. Get on with your project and chalk this up to a lesson learned. The courts are already screwed up, believe me I know.

Ahh tools, thats what slush funds are for. Yes I know my UPS driver very well, he even has the code to get into my barn to drop off the tools on the days my wife works. There are never " new " tools out there. Because by the time she gets home the packages are burnt and the tools are stuffed away getting the slightest bit dirty. How many times have I said "honey that was my dads and he never really used it, I have had it for years" and it still works! I have taught my understudies at work on the art of "Tool Deception and slush funds" Good lord I need to write a book...........And if she ever finds out about what I just said I am sooooooo screwed!!

Thanks I think I get the gist from that link. I believe I need to just turn the cage around and re assembly and my end caps just remain off. Been awhile since I have seen the halfshafts. Are those metal bands usable again or is it a one time use, once I remove them I have to replace them with something?

I have an email into him as well. Anyone here have a link or instructions I can copy....Thankzzzz !!72 240 and R200 from 84 300zxt.

Ball joint bolts and steering knuckle bolts
sjhafa replied to sjhafa's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Here I am again red faced and all,, trying to edit my post before anyone responded. I had the ball joints under the control arm not on top ....so as I found out that lowered everything. My bump spacers are re installed however they still hit the stock 14" rim. However as I progress the rims will be replaced with the 15" panasports so I think I will be ok. Now I need to get those bump spacers off ebay!! thank you! -
72 240, new ball joints, tokico struts and springs, poly bushings. Putting my car back together after replacing the above along with the JTR cross member spacer I had on planned on and purchased a 3/4" bump steer spacers. After putting this on and putting it back together the bolts that hold on the steering knuckle and pass thru spacer are hitting on the two outer most ball joint bolts at full turn. I removed the spacers and put this all back together and the bolts no longer hit but they are so close that a piece of paper will not fit between them. The outer tie rod end also hit my rim while the bump steer spacers were installed so the rim would not fit on all the way. I have great pics but can't for the life of me figure how to get them on here to get help. I have looked in the photo gallery for some pictures of the ball joints installed as well as the bump steer spacers installed. I have bloody hands with this darn thing and fustration is running high. Pictures, Links or any comments are welcomed. Thankzzzz

Need a Source For Caliper Pins
sjhafa replied to SSflyer's topic in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis
Brake Material and Parts inc Tx(260) 426-3331 Located in Ft Wayne, In They have been supplying my needs for every project for years. I was there just the other day to get pins for my new unloaded Toyota calipers. Its an old school place with all the new stuff too. Good luck! -
Since we area all talking pinion flanges if anyone has an extra R200 with the 2.25" pilot hole i'd be interested......
-
Get out the C clamp and squeeze......or go get a new/rebuilt caliper. Sounds like a stuck caliper. By just putting on new pads wont solve anything except make you buy new pads and have brake dust all over the place.

Anyone else get the impression that Wayne knows welding......
-
Hey Ryan , welcome, being new my self there is a wealth of knowledge here and some very good natured folks. I have thevstock 72 springs off my 240 that I recently replaced with Tokios. They are yours, all you have to do is pay the freight.I would guess under $20 let me know, they'd be comming from Churubusco, In 46723

I also received one of those, they usually come only after you sell something and someone sends money. I was on my way to being a victim untill a pop up appeared and said the page I was looking at was associated with a scam. So I never made it to filling in the blanks. Buy you are right, everything down to the correct logos and colors are correct.

Start selling parts, make a bundle on guys like me from the rust belt then go to the SW and get a solid start. I had to drive 18 hours to get mine one way. It was well worth the road trip. NO regrets
