  1. Whoa! Those Epsilon wheels are killer looking! Where did you find those? Any others from the same source? Datto? Davy
  2. I have some on my 350 and I really like them. Not too many guys have them on their motors (that's a good thing) and they still look unique. The plastic and color are very good and are of a decently high quality. They look a little like this: However, the centerbolt configuration looks pretty cool. You would definitely be the first on your block to own one, since this is the first time I have ever seen these. This is NOT my motor or the color of the loom/separators, but you get the idea Davy
  3. Stony, the wheels sure brighten up the car! Lookin' good, man!! Davy
  4. 3rd choice sounds about right. I like a car that is a "jack-of-all-trades" and can do most things pretty darn well. Davy
  5. Kewl! But I'm sure that Canton Mecca (sp?) products are NOT cheap either. On the other hand, for what we have into the motors, it is cheap insurance. Davy
  6. Heavy Z has a pretty wicked 327/T5 setup in his Z. Check it out when you get the chance. Davy
  7. No, any ill effects (and there shouldn't be any) can be sorted out with varying spring rates and suspension settings. We are NOT talking older Porsche 911's here! Davy
  8. Sweet engine; I don't think you'll ever break it! Sounds like a plan, just make sure it get adequate oil and you're there. Bring a clean change of underwear. Davy
  9. Unless you are looking to put a car together in a hurry, patience is a virtue when doing a swap. Please buy the JTR manual first and then read it through several times before jumping off into the world of swaps. If you already have a Z car, you are miles ahead. Tuning V8 engines is easy; tuning them for utmost performance cheaply is not. I suggest reading many old posts from this website and getting a good feel while digesting the information at hand. There is great literature available at any bookstore. Send for a free Summit Racing catalog if you have not already done so. As far as what engine to buy, if you buy used, it is a crapshoot; if you buy new, it is budget constrained. That said, you have to figure out what you want (350 hp & 350 lb/ft torque) is easy for a Chevy, even a relatively stock one. Buy from friends, buy from ebay, look for deals, but be wise when handing over the cash. Good luck! Davy
  10. Nope, it'll be a 305, but that is not a bad thing, really. A 305 has plenty of grunt to get a Z moving. Plus, those TPI/TBI motors are pretty darn good when it comes to longevity. Yes, a 350 is more desirable, but for the $$$, that combo is very hard to beat. Davy

    Im back!

    Welcome back!!! Davy
  12. Nope. I don't think the R32 light "goofy" per se, but I'm not sure how they would fit. I have some of the older R32 tail lights (both equal in size) and they should fit 'reasonably' well with minimal carnage to the car or light assemblies. The only thing I'm not sure of is how close they'll be once mounted. We all need room for a license plate, right? Davy
  13. CRAP! I can't get into Scottie's link! For some reason, I'm "not allowed." That really bites. I'm trying to build a turbo SBC, and a twin is not out of range for me at the moment. Grrr... Any suggestions? Take MS Exploder and shoot it? Davy
  14. Good to see you posting again, Datto! Your car is looking great with those wheels. Remember when you took a pole at ZDriver.com and asked if the silver or the black looks better on your car? Well, the anthracite Watanabes look exceptional! Nice work Davy
  15. Beautiful car; not really my taste, but a very nicely done car with a very righteous power plant! Davy
  16. Casey, The research you need to do: 1) Use the search function on this forum to look up and read the posts abut LT1 swaps. 2) Buy and read the JTR manual; you'll need the TPI/TBI manual and the Datsun V8 conversion manual. 3) Consider TIME to be the biggest issue if you already have a Z car and the engine & tranny + $5000 extra laying around for the swap. How "nice" you want everything to be: sky is the limit. Used LT1 & T56 from junkyards: $3000-$6000 (am I close LT1 guys?) Then there is the Z car. You can spend umpteen dollars on making that the ultimate in performance. 240Zs run in the $2000 to $5000 for nice ones, but make no mistake, they are available for less and for more. Just do a ton of reading on this site and others, and you'll have a very good idea about if you want to do this or not. Furthermore, keep in mind that if you ever get discouraged, that the Z weighs about 1000lbs less than the Camaro, and goes faster with the same motor. Now modify that motor and almost NOTHING can catch you! Davy
  17. Basically, if your car still has the same rubber bushings it originally came with, you would do the car (and yourself) major justice by replacing them with either polyurethane or polygraphite bushings. Auxilary installed polygraphite bushings on his car, and it feels like a 'new' car that doesn't squeak at all. No crashing noises of any kind. He is running 200lb springs and his car is even a bit "stiff" feeling for the more senior of our group out here, but doesn't bother me one bit! Davy
  18. Get the part # you need (that will take some work, but do a search and you'll be miles ahead) and buy a radiator from: www.radiator.com They should stock a brand new unit that should very well in your car. Again, make sure you have the part number or exact application and you should be good to go at a very very low cost. Davy
  19. Phil, while I don't know of any paint shops in your area, with the kind of money you are looking to spend, I'd look at good collision repair shops and not custom shops. The repair places will do very nice work and most likely be a bit cheaper than custom work. Talk to some rodders in you area and see what they suggest. Davy
  20. I believe that is the company owned by "takman57" who used to post on this forum a while back when it was "new." Their prices are fair and they do some quality work--I seriously doubt you would be disappointed. Davy
  21. Or you can mount the plate in the front window with suction cups. I'd hate to drill a bumper or clean bodywork. Davy
  22. And I thought they were just being nice! I was there a few years ago and they would not let me pump the gas--I told them to lay off and let me do it because I wasn't paying for 'full serve.' They thought I was either stupid or from out of state (either is believable) Davy
  23. Long Ta!!! Hey, Bud! Great to see you back on the board! Do me a favor and email me with a current email address or phone number. Thanks! But back to the answers to the question: So guys, is devil's food cake faster in your system than angel's food cake? Tastes great or less filling? Half full or half empty? Davy
  24. That sounds like a good deal to me, as long as the bolt pattern and offset are compatable with the Datsun ones. Are they in good shape? If so, that might be a deal you should look into. Davy
