  1. So the panels are different in what way? The more information, the better. Davy
  2. Cool. The 280Z will be made, but the door(s) we are getting from innerware are at least 30 days away, so just hang in there. Davy
  3. I'd would be very surprised if the airbag went off from such a small tap from the old lady. Typically the airbags on more sophisticated cars have decelleration sensors and will only deploy if the computer senses massive decelleration, otherwise, such as in the case of a "tap" or parking lot bump, they won't deploy. Just suspicious, but pretty funny nonetheless. Davy
  4. True, but he's already nearly finished and kudos to him for being nearly all the way there on his own!! Not bad at all... If a Taurus fan will fit, I would recommend a 2 speed taurus or Mustang fan. You must measure the space you have between the engine and the radiator. Let us know that space is and then we'll tell you to search for the posted dimensions on the Taurus fan...lol. As far as the air cleaner is concerned, you have very few options due to next to nothing as far a gap is concerned. You can: 1) Run hoodless 2) Run a shaker style scoop (fixed to motor; needs a hole in hood) 3) Run some other style scoop (fixed to hood itself) HTH Davy
  5. Congrats on getting the car up and running. Next trip: muffler shop, then a serious shakedown run! Davy
  6. I spoke with Pete (the fabricator) last night. Price point on these will be significantly less then some of the other fiberglass panels out there. I'm trying to coordinate with him to get the doors to him. After that, he'll make an initial run and I'll be posting to see who is interested. He also makes BRE kits and widebody kits for 510s so....I'm trying to convince him of producing for the S30 models. Price point would be roughly $200 per corner!!!!!!!!!!!! Not bad for a widebody.... More to come. Davy
  7. Good, I have lined up a 280Z door (thanks to innerware) and I am supplying the 240Z door(s) and panel. This project should be going forward shortly and I'll be giving updates as I have them. Davy
  8. Nope, to sell cars anyway they can. The retro thing is just another way to sell cars. I'm one of the people who actually likes this general look. I think a heavily 240Z influenced 350Z would have been the ticket, just like the artist conception pictures that Nissan must have burned when it came time to make a decision. Just my stinky opinion Davy
  9. Dave, Awesome to have you back---hopefully you'll get another Z and spend more time & money on what's important in life Post anytime Davy
  10. I have thought about an Esprit LT1 swp for a long time. I dismissed it after not being able to find a decent Esprit that only needed a motor; it's such that the people who own them have the money to install a new engine if need be, regardless of cost, or they are clapped out and cannot be used for anything let alone a V8 conversion. I still like to dream, though, and I think they are seriously cool cars. Davy
  11. Agreed. Way to keep it civil. Kudos. Davy
  12. I ordered mine from MSA years ago for my then 260Z. It was a full cap, looked great, and fit nicely. You could not tell it was a cap at all. I followed all the instructions to a 'T' and then some. Take your time and do it correctly ONCE. That's all you need... Davy
  13. Steve, Just like fl327 stated earlier, it's called "fender welt" or "fender welting" made for the old VW Beetle. They used the rubber between the fender and the body, so the stuff is tailor made for ZG flares. Any VW shop should be able to supply you with it, even JC Whitney carries it still I believe. In So Cal I doubt you would have any trouble getting VW parts... Davy
  14. Ditto on that. Terry, those CVs look truly brutal; a real thing of beauty. Are the 930 CVs all that plentiful or cheap???? For a one time deal, this might be the thing to do, but I'm looking at this from a cost/benefit standpoint. Just curious. Davy
  15. You know, I think both would be good. Yes, I could wait 1 month for the 280Z door LOL; no one else has stepped up to the plate! Many thanks. I'm sure the 240Z door/panels will keep them busy. Davy Dan, not to steal your thunder and yes, I do have the greatest respect for John Washington and his products, but I didn't want this thread hijacked!
  16. Yes, it is the same guy. And yes, from the pictures his panels look great. I emailed him about the possibility of making panels for the 240Z, 260Z, and 280Z. The speaker placements are great and he makes a clean raised portion for the speakers to nest in. I'm thinking they can be covered in CF too This is a mockup of the 510 door. The Z door panel would probably be something similar. The great thing is not having to sacrifice your good OEM door panels and just use this for speaker mounting. I have some unmolested OEM panels I do not want to cut up, nor do I really want to use my other cut-to-ribbons-panel-set either. This would be a great alternative. Loy, thanks for the info about the doors. Now if I can just find someone nearby with a 280Z door they can loan me... Davy
  17. Looking great! It's great to see someone working with leather instead of vinyl. It will add some serious class to your car. I'm sure your sound system will match as well Davy PS, Scott---you're baaad.
  18. 280ZX is not a consideration yet---at least we have not discussed it yet, sorry. I'm trying to get a 280Z door here locally from someone to help him fab an interior door panel for it. Corzette, I'll keep you in mind when he fabs them up. I'll make sure that there is a post for sale in the for sale section or vendor's section. As I said, he already makes them for other cars and this is the next progression. I do think there would be a market for this product for Z's....at least the S30's. Davy
