  1. Ugh, more and more school... That will certainly keep you from getting into more V8Z cars for the moment anyway. You little brother should be getting into high school soon and maybe he'll catch the performance bug...or he may become addicted to Honda rice jobs and embarrass your whole family. Anyway, good luck in nursing school--it'll pay well once you get out, but you might be so busy then that you'll end up buying a new 350Z instead! I'd host your site, but I don't have the means to do so. I felt it was one of the best since you are one of the only people I know that documented your Scarab to JTR swap. If I can just get my printer working I'll be downloading the information for sure. Cheers, Davy
  2. Long, it's good to see you back! Did you graduate from college yet? Will you start another V8Z? Funny, but yesterday I was thinking about all the people that fell through the rafters in this site over the years and I was remembering a number of guys including you. Good to see the site back up--I liked it then and I still like it now. I think it's helpful for anyone getting into to this hobby... Cheers, Davy
  3. Metal carnage...sickening. How does something that ugly happen? I don't envy you! Davy
  4. Their own fiberglass seems to be pretty good and I have not heard too many bad things about their own body kits. I think they'll be fine for what you are looking for. Most of the discontent with MSA has to do with price, spotty customer service, etc. Personally I've had decent luck with them in the past. Since there are scant few body kit manufacturers left for the Z, by all means try them out. Their ZX kits looks great! Davy
  5. Looking great! The whole interior will be one to experience, especially since it is in leather. I wish you were in my neighborhood so you could recover my seats in leather!! Keep up the good work and keep adding links/photos. Davy

John, do you know exactly what you'll be working on and can you reveal that? Details, man, details! Very cool...now if you can only take it up and down the blvd a few times... Davy
  7. No. They are "raw" panels and you literally will have to finish them, fuzzy and weatherstrip as well. Davy
  8. Exactly. I'd have to cut the housings in half to separate the high beams from the low beams. I'm only interested in the normal low beam driving lights. The high beams can be from some separate lights that I'll use once in a while, but mounted elsewhere... Davy
  9. In this part of the state they certainly do, so long as they are deciduous (sp?) and not evergreen. What you don't get are the wonderful explosions of color that cover the trees all over rolling hills and the like such as in other states back east. Those large areas of trees changing colors doesn't seem to happen here, because we don't have large deciduous forests typically. California DOES have quite a few evergreen forests that have a beauty all their own. My $.02... I'll be raking tomorrow. Davy
  10. That's right, about $200 (I'm trying to convince him of even less, but we'll see) for a PAIR of skins. You'll have to finish them with upholstery, paint, CF, or whatever. We'll see just how long it takes for him to make this mold--that's where the time is really spent. Once a good mold is made, popping out the panels should be relatively easy (and quick) to do. Gelcoat is our friend. Davy
  11. Birdhouse maybe, but not townhouse. Aux is right! Davy
  12. The speaker mount is raised a bit (and even a little tilted toward the driver/passenger from the door frame. The beauty of this is that the speaker magnet (not large at all) barely resides in the door itself! He showed up the other day at my place with a 510 panel that I could look at and a Sony X-plode 6.5" already mounted. The magnet stuck into the "door" less than 1/2" max. I'm confident the panels will look good and be sturdy enough for whatever 6.5" and 1" tweeter you want to throw at it. I'll update when he has a set done that I can photograph and put up in the thread. It's taking a bit of time since he also has a family and works a 'real' job on the weekdays. Davy
  13. You need to check with your state's emission laws--they are on your state's government website almost for certain. Davy
  14. You and she need to go to the police and file a report/complaint immediately. She can give him all the information she has on him, etc. Both of you being there will lend more credibility than just one person being there. At each incident, report it. Explain to the police every time it happens. The record grows and grows and, at some point, you'll have hard evidence and the police will finally be able to do something serious about it. Your GF (and you) can get a restraining order on the guy once you have evidence. Then, he's just a slip away from the slammer. You must follow through each time.... My $.02 anyway. Davy
  15. The widebody drawing looks great, as do the dual projectors. It would be one heck of a kit!! Davy
  16. Looks like a Tecate or XX from here Davy
  17. I really like this swap! The nice thing about it is that it is purposeful and is smog legal. I doubt you'll have any trouble smogging it, especially since most everything is stock. Good job! Davy
  18. Whoa, I like those patches! I wanted to go to the show, but I had three sick kids and a sick wife, so there was NOOOOOOO way I was going anywhere (even though I really wanted to) except to the drugstore. Did your model car win? Looks to be a period correct hot rod ("rat rod?") BTW, that is Coke you're drinking, no? Davy
  19. The only thing I can see is that you will most likely have an increase in unsprung weight IF the suspension components on the Q45 are heavier than the Z. I was only under my Q45 once the entire time I owned it--I had no illusions of taking it apart, ever! Beefy rear diff, though, and if you can swap the rest of the suspension, you'll have astout rear end that should never break, even when drag racing. Davy
  20. Not everything he said is true. You can't build as much power?!? That's flat incorrect. Here is a build up of a 400 SBC if you are interested, wacyszcar: http://chevyhiperformance.com/techarticles/6113/ http://chevyhiperformance.com/techarticles/148_0306_406/ http://ncarboni.home.att.net/Engine.html Davy
  21. That's HeavyZ's car. He's on this site quite a bit usually, but not as of late. Davy
  22. I can't tell from your post if the engine is in need of rebuilding or not. I would ask myself these questions: 1) Why is he getting rid of a good motor for a smaller one? 2) If the 400 needs a rebuild, why doesn't he just rebuild it?---it makes more power/torque than the 350 all things being equal. 3) Is the 400 rebuildable? Is there any reason why it's not? All things being equal, always go for more cubic inches. I'd love to have a 400 sbc in place of my 350. For N/A motors, nothing beats cubic inches. Davy
  23. No, but I have thought long and hard about using the Acura headlights for my Z. I would only use the low beams as a single light since both won't fit at the angle that they set in the Integra. The high beams would come from some other area, like the grill or airdam. The motorcycle lights are a cool idea, but the curve of the lense concerns me---that's the only reason I went to the Acura projector lights. Davy
  24. Ditto. That is not worth $400 let alone $1100. Seriously, I wouldn't pay $100 for it. I can get better Z's than that for much less. It often happens---you just keep your eyes on the classifieds, PennySaver, Craigslist, etc. I won't buy a Z off of ebay unless I've seen the car in person, period! Davy
