  1. SWEET! I love limited edition tool boxes; they're much better looking than the traditional red.....although if I was given your old tool boxes, I surely would not refuse them! The lifts look great too. Did you have a say in single vs double posts? I remember the thread a while back discussing them...Grumpy was asking for opinions I think... Davy
  2. LOL!!! Hey, not a bad idea!!! But we first trip the car of any decent parts first Davy
  3. Happy Birthday!!! Now get out there and celebrate Davy
  4. Wow! Those look great! I have, and always will, like flames on a Z. Very cool!! Davy
  5. The car will MUCH better with the top down. For some reason Z cars look rather strange with convertible tops up. It'll be loads of fun, Dan! Davy
  6. Nah, I think he knows that---he's just doing it to royally confuse people. I like stuff like that. Davy
  7. This one looks better, although the extraneous wiring in the cockpit looks rather scary-you may have to deal with that later. Still, if this one is rust free, I'd say go for it! As stated previously, the early 260Z is essentially a 240Z with similar "skinny" bumpers, etc. The larger engine and tail light panel are the major changes. The auto is not really an issue--you'll need a few items like a pedal assembly and such. Davy
  8. I believe it was David Vizard (?) that said the Chinese made manifolds were actually pretty decent in their flow characteristics---because they are a clone from an Edelbrock or something very similar. From what I have read they work well. That is one product I would not be too scared about the quality, but there are a lot of other Chinese made parts that I would shy away from. I always try to buy American engine and transmission parts (or Japanese when it comes to Z-specific parts) whenever possible. Davy
  9. Worst driving I have ever seen was in Mexico, not Canada, although my home state of California has come in very close at times Jon, we have a lot of Canadian members here and I'm sure the HybridZ bunch are truly a shot above the norm, for anywhere I might add... I'd like this thread NOT to turn ugly... Davy
  10. That car was in ZCar Magazine a good number of years ago (mid 1990's?). I have that particular issue stuffed way away someplace. The owner is/was Canadian and it has a tilt front end, tube chassis front, wild SBC with 3 two barrels (If I remember correctly), etc, etc. The car was featured with two other cars: a red 240Z with nasty L6, and a more mile white 240Z with V8 conversion and some minor body mods. Yes, the black one sticks out in my mind too... Good luck with your project!! Davy
  11. Man, these are just cracking me up! "To V8 or not V8; that is the question." Paraphrased from Hamlet... How's that John? "Ich bin ein HybridZer." Paraphrased from JFK from a speech in Berlin. or "I will not Hybrid until all my children stop fighting." Paraphrased from Ghandi. Man, this paraphrasing is fun!!!!! AAHAHAHAAHAahahahah! Davy OK, I'm giddy; I'm fighting tonight.
  12. Since they are so cheap to replace, when in doubt, replace it. I've never put my mouth on them or tried blowing in them, hmmm. You should hear the thingie inside sliding back and forth freely just as you stated, but leaking past when the valve is closed? Hmmm. Davy
  13. PCV = Positive Crankcase Ventilation Nope, you can use a breather on each side or on one side, but many are prone to oil seepage/leakage. I personally don't like the idea of the crankcase venting straight to the atmosphere when it could be recycled and burned in the cylinders instead. To my knowledge you will not gain any horsepower by running breathers. On the 350 I am building up, I went straight to the PCV instead of breathers for the aforementioned reasons. Just my $.02 Davy
  14. LOL!! Or, HybridZ: we have bigger hammers... Davy
  15. "STUFF" happens. I have to deal with 'stuff' as well when there are newbies in the other departments. I feel for you and I'd advise you to get your manager involved if you have a good one. I've used management for protection when I have been able to, but I keep looking backward to make sure nobody with a knife is standing there. I trust no one at work---learned that the hard way. Davy
  16. My resolution is to finish my house remodeling by August and then complete the V8 conversion by October, have the car completely running on its own power by then and finally start making the car "nice." We'll see how far I get. For sure I need my house finished this year... Davy
  17. Gotta love that large engine bay! Looks like he's doing the whole thing "right" as far as I can see. I had plenty of Volvos, but never one like that!! I love the idea... Davy
  18. Mike, You'll find most of your answers here on the sie, but do use the search function. Your questions are good ones and you spent the time to be detailed so I'll try to send you off in the right direction. 1) Buy the JTR book: http://www.jagsthatrun.com/ 2) Your V8 will work fine with a relatively inexpensive T5 from a Camaro. Make sure that it is a T5 that was in a V8 car, not a V6 car!!! The T5 is much cheaper than the T56 and should work well with a "mild" V8. You can still put down some serious HP and make the T5 live, just don't use slicks when you drag race. 3) mortec.com should be able to identify the SBC for you. We need more detail about the motor--is it a long block, short block only, complete engine, what? Davy
  19. Miles, my car came with the Starion/Conquest stock cloth seats installed. I don't think it took much at all to put them in there. If you are looking for some to rough or keep to put into your car, I'll give you mine--PM or email me. The seats are decent, especially for free. Davy
  20. I assuming you'll part it out in Japan. The engine and tranny are good for a Nissan hot rod IMO, especially to guys that will go all the way to install one in an older Z car. They are extremely nice cars and I think you'll enjoy driving it. However, if you can't get your money back parting it out, the work taking the diff out and dismantling the rest of the car is not worth it IMO. A Q45 diff is not super expensive here in the States, so why do it? Seems like a ton of work for a Q45 diff. Davy
  21. I too would like to see this in a pic. This sounds like what the doctor ordered. As HTH just mentioned, doing the adjusting backwards and upside down is stupidly vulgar at times Davy
  22. I look at that and I see: PAIN Ouchie... Davy
