The book is at Barnes & Noble. 240hp seems kinda low. I woud have thought more than that. But hey, at least there is a good excuse to do the upgrades.

Sorry, the book is at Barnes & Noble. My next book is going to be an electrical one. How much power is there in a stock 351? I'm starting to get the hang of painting and interior, so now to wrap my head around the mechanical.

I'm going with the 351w. I have always liked side pipes also and am most likely going that way too. As far as hood clearance, I'm going to do an eleanor type hood bulge. The book I got is Custom Auto Interiors, by Don Taylor and Ron Magnus. It makes doing that kind of work seem a lot less intimidating. Very easy to follow. gb20

I just went and bought an auto upholstry book. Pretty good stuff. I hope to do all the interior stuff myself, and hopefully learn how to do all the exterior and engine stuff myself. Especially if I'm going to put a v-8 in there.

I just got done smoothing out the center console and heater panel. Painted them metalic blue. My sterio only plays cds, no radio.

Thanks for all your help. I can already feel the "while I'm at it" disease coming on. These cars can be the addiction. I'll do the interior now while I wait for a garage.

All that work just to be told you can't do anything with it. That really bites. My first Z was a 280 for my 17th b-day. Someone tried to steal it and ended up on a rock in my front yard. The rock actually went through the floor, and into the engine. Just bought a 260 a few weeks ago and got all the DVM stuff this past Saturday. It's nice to drive a Z again.

I'm trying to talk my wife into buying a house so we can put a nice shop in there. Oh, and the whole stable, nice place to live thing too. The dreams of a young Z owner huh.

So if I go to a junk yard, I would want to get the harness and computer along with the engine, correct? Then do the upgrades to get the performance? Thanks for all the info. gb20

I just got my car smoged, and suprise, suprise, it failed:cry2: . So now I have been on the phone all morning trying to find someone that can and will do a good tune up on this thing. It's a 260 and everyone I talked to won't do it because they have never worked on one before:fmad: . Anybody in Las Vegas have a good place to take our Z's? Thanks for your time. gb20
