My dad & I were just out there playing with the timing and checking the float levels. Also made sure we are getting spark to all the plugs. How would I go about checking for a vacuum leak? Thanks for the help & ideas guys.

This is for a 74 260. I have put in the AZC intake and 6-into-2 headers with the twice pipes exaust from MSA. After getting these parts installed I can't get the car to stay running. At first it would start and I could keep it running by messing with the throttle but it would take more & more throttle to keep it @ the same rpm. Now it comes close to starting but won't and backfires out of the exaust then blows gas out of the carb. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this and how to fix it? Any help is more then appreciated. Thanks in advance, gb20

It took a sec to see it but that's pretty funny.

Wheel Show! Post your pics of you wheels

Hey RS Speed, do you have any close ups of those hood pins and a shot of how you mounted them? -
Sorry, my bad. I wonder if I could get the technology to put that HUD in my Z:). Maybe add in a targeting system to pick out any troopers. It would sure make the 6hr drive from Vegas to Salt Lake a lot more entertaining.

I for 1 thought that was awesome! Those cars are amazing. I am a huge fan of Mustangs but that Challenger was SWEET! I especially like the heads up display. Drivng in complete darkness using the thermal imaging would be fun, not to metion a good way to evade the police on those long dark stretches of road. I mean a great way not to disturb your neibors in the middle of the night. As for wasting tax dollars during a recession... I think it is a very good recruitment tool for the Airforce. They are doing something to get potential reqruits interested. Showing them some of the skills they would have the opportunity to gain by joining. Could get someone interested that never realized the other aspects of the military other then just fighting. Not mention giving them the skills to have a succesful life after the Air Force. Just my opinion, I'm no expert, I could be wrong. I'll take one of each, thanks.

I suddenly have a strong urge to get a cage put in my car. I don't plan on jumping off any cliffs any time soon, but the streets of Vegas can be pretty dangerous on thier own. What's the tipping ettiquet for a cage builder?

I have been unable to find any leaks. What kind of carb adjustments should I look at doing, if any?
-
I'll give that a try. I would hate to have to take it to a shop just for them to charge me $100 to find a leak. Thanks for the help guys, I'll let ya know what happens. gb20

How do I check for vacuum leaks? I put all the lines back where I had them when it was running.

After the car starts, I can keep reving the engine to keep it running but it dies if I give I stop or keep the pedal in one spot. It seems like it should be something simple but I don't know what that could be.

So I got my header and exaust put on 260z. Its the msa 3-into-2 header with the twice pipes exaust. I also have the arizonazcar 4 barrell intake and carb on the car. Before installing the exaust components the car ran well. But now the car will turn over but won't stay running. Any ideas what might be going on? Thanks for any help given.

So I got frustrated and decided to take the car into a brake shop. I figured it was going to be something stupid that got overlooked and be a quick fix, and it was. When I had installed the front brakes, it was late and I just wanted to get it done. I installed the calipers on the wrong sides. I don't know how many times I have read to make sure the bleeder is on top and that is the one thing I did wrong. Moral of the story, actually pay attention to the things you learn on this site. Thanks for all the help and suggestions guys, it has been greatly appreciated. gb20

Dude, I feel for ya. I've been dealing with the same problem for the past few weeks. Everyone has been saying bad master cylinder or reaction disk. For me, the MC is new and the reaction disk is still in tact doing its job. I finally gave up and took it to a brake shop. My front rotors were on the wrong side. Easy fix but a pain in the a$$ to find. Good luck bro.
-
Alright so the front brakes had an easy fix. My rims were clamping down on the calipers and keeping the car from moving. I got some spacers and fixed that issue. The thing is that I have to pump my brakes 3-4 times before I get any braking actions. But once the brakes start to work, they work very well. It's just getting to that point. Does anyone have any idea how to fix that? Any help is very much appreciated and needed. By the way, I did get a new master cylinder, it's a 15/16. Are there any adjustments to that that would make a difference in my problem? gb20

I bought a brand new set of the front big brake kit from silverminemotors.com. Rotors, calipers, pads are all new parts. As for the reaction disk, it hasn't ever been a problem before but I keep hearing that the little devil can cause some frustrating problems. With the car is off I can push the brake pedal to the floor very easily but can pump the brakes and get a vey firm pedal. When I start the car I loose a little bit of that pedal but can pump it back up. After I tried to take the car for a spin and it didn't move I jacked up the front end and found that my front brakes are engaged.
-
Ok, I'm seriously lost. I have been having issues with my brakes and have made a couple posts trying to get it fixed. I have been thinking it was either the rear brakes or the brake booster, I changed the rear wheel cylinders, made sure everything was bled, check the reaction disk a few times, but when I went to take the car for a spin around my circle I found that my front brakes are locked up, like the car won't budge. These are new brakes from silverminemotors that I put on a few months ago but haven't driven with yet. Does any one have any idea why this would be happening and how do I fix it? I really need some help here, I'm supposed to be going from Las Vegas to Salt Lake this week and need my ride to get me there. All help is very appreciated. Thank you, gb20

My brakes don't work but I can pump them and get a good pedal feel as long as the car is off, but as soon as the car turns on, I lose all pedal. Is this a sure sign of a bad brake booster?
-
I will check the disk again just to bwe sure but could it possibly be something in the rear brakes?
-
Ok, so I have some issues with my brakes for a while. I can push the pedal all the way to floor with very little effort. Once it gets there the brakes will start to engage but it's too little too late. I bled the system, checked all my connections, bought a new master cylinder, checked the reaction disk, and even bought and installed the big brake kit from silverminemotors.com (these brakes look amazing on the car). I went through and bled the system again and now I can pump the brakes and get some good feel in the pedal but ass soon as I let off the brake for a sec, I loose the pressure again. Do you guys have any thoughts on what it might be? Any help would be greatly appreciated. gb20

Hey guys, I just got the 4 barrell intake from arizonazcar.com put on my 260z. I really like the look of it and it fires right up now (it would take a minute or so in the mornings to fire with the old 2 carb set up). The problem I am having is that it is idling at 4,000rpms. That's 1,000rpms past where I normally shift. I have tried to adjust the idle screws on the carb with no affect. Do you guys have any suggestions on what to do to get the rpms back down to around 1,000rpms at idle? Thank you for any help you can give. gb20

Hey guys, I just need a quick explanation (preferably with pics) on how to instal the brake pads into the silvermine motors big brake caliper. I need these today so I really appreciate the help. gb20
-
Sweet! Thanks guys. Its just surface rust so I'll just stick em on there. Thanks again, Gb20

Ok, so I grabbed a set of the front brakes from silverminemotors.com. I gotta say, these are pretty. The only thing is that there is a little bit of rust on one of the rotors. Do I need to clean this off before installation and if so, what's the best way to do it? Thanks for the help guys.

Yep, it's got the 280 hubs. Thanks for the help guys, it's much appreciated. gb20
