Gollum
Some great shots in there. Too bad he was flaking about getting the high res copies to you. Was this a paid photo-op? If so that's highly unprofessional, but if it was kind of a favor deal or something I guess I could have some grace there. Cars look wonderful btw. itzgoten
Gollum, it was a favor and he's very busy so I guess I can't complain. He's a great photographer just hard to get any of his time after the fact. I really wanted some hi-res pics so I could print them out and frame the ones I liked.Oh well.... Samson
Hey, from some pics it shows you don't have a hatch lock? How do you keep it locked? Or you don't? Reason is because my hatch lock is shaved and just trying to find a different alternative to keep it secure from theft. Very nice build btw!! itzgoten
Samson, the latchless hatch is only for the GT Wing which is used for track days. The car is secured on a trailer and backed up towards a wall. It's extremely difficult to steal and the inside is completely empty. For the street I use the BRE style spoiler and regular hatch with a lock. However, I met this guy that shaved his hatch and he said something about flipping the latch lock around. Have the side that is on the chassis bolted to the hatch and the lock side on the hatch was bolted to the chassis. He would shimmy his finger and press a button to release the hatch. Don't know what or how he did it but he did. Maybe that might help your situation? Edited December 13, 2012 by itzgoten
tervanun
Great thread! I was just wondering what size braided line you were running for fuel? I seemed to have also missed what kind of pump you're using? Thanks!
itzgoten
I am using -6 lines for fuel and I'm running an Aeromotive 700 inline pump.
itzgoten
It's been forever since I've done anything new with the car, but I decided to get a fully built SR22 from MazWorx in Florida for the off season. We reused my head (along with valve train and valves) and block was reused but we went with different internals. The block was bored out and sleeved. It is running 90mm pistons now. Pretty much new everything, main oil holes were grooved out for better oiling. We're just redoing some plumbing now before we drop the motor in. The head was converted to solid Tomei cams, solid lifters, dual rocker arm guide conversion. Here are some pictures that were sent to me from MazWorx Here are the pictures when it arrived at the shop. I was super excited to have this back. I can't wait to feel the power! And here we put everything on the motor to figure out a better way to run the coolant lines. Before I was grabbing coolant from the intake side but I think we can do it all from the hot side of the engine now. It's really a shame all this wonderful piping is hidden away. And this was the Z at the track in July I believe..
Gollum
Can I just say I really like that wastegate arrangement? Oh, and can I say again, I love the car?
EF Ian
That should be some engine there. Will be good to see how it performs.
itzgoten
Can I just say I really like that wastegate arrangement? Oh, and can I say again, I love the car? Thanks Gollum! Hopefully I'll be able to make it out to one of your events soon. I love the wastegate arrangement too. It's a shame that it's hidden away. I figured it was a good time to snap some pics since it was on the engine stand. That should be some engine there. Will be good to see how it performs. EF Ian, I'll hope to make decent numbers on pump gas but I I can't go e85 or full boost just yet. I'll need to swap out to a twin-disc clutch to use more than 400hp. So maybe run this setup and break it in and the next upgrade after the new years will be 1200cc injectors and a twin-disc clutch. End goal is to have a daily driven 600hp car on E85. =)

itzgoten
600 would be a lot in a 240Z, you might find 500 is more than enough. Can you make 600hp with your current turbo? I think I'll have to agree with you. I know I can push the turbo till about 32-35psi and it'll be fine. I was running 430ish-whp at 20psi (max boost for 91 octane) and it was very fun but it was borderline unsafe so we detuned. I ran 17psi max at like 360-380whp and 15psi daily but I forget what the whp was. I think I could safely assume 10ish-hp per psi would be a fair guesstimate.. and I figure e85 and 30ish-psi maybe I'll be in the higher 500's? I'll be happy either way. itzgoten
With all of the social media outlets I tend to forget to come back and update this. But I think for the most part things are coming to a close. The motor is in and I set out to tune next Tuesday. Short IG video here.. http://instagram.com/p/oPe7hQnac5/ I'll get an update on HP numbers after the tune on Tuesday June 3rd. Last things left is really just putting in the 6-speed Z33 tranny, getting a front diffuser, maybe some brake ducts. I went to drop some updates and that whole conversation is gone.. totally odd...
