Trevor_280ZX
Let me explain that title up there. The other day I was returning a 328i to a dealership after a road test (I do auto reviews) and saw that my sneakers had left a terrible residue of gravel dirt and Gawd knows what else in the floor. So I decided I'd go buy a pair of decent driving shoes just for the tests (and for when the Z's up and running!). I did a Google search and found THESE. http://www.ompracing-usa.com/detail.html?productcode=IC/782 Problem is, those suckers are $320. But I liked the vintage look, and thought they'd go well with a suit I have. Why not kill two birds with one stone, right? I did more looking and found some Sparco vintage style ones, but they were also expensive. I like the brown leather Puma Future Cats, but they all have damned Ferrari logos on them. I don't own a Ferrari (evidenced by the fact that I won't spend $300 on shoes), and the only way I'd look dumber in them is if I did own one. Sparco: http://www.rallymerchandise.eu/product-eng-6040-Sparco-VINTAGE-CLASSIC-Racing-Shoes-with-FIA-homologation-.html Puma: http://www.wikipuma.com/proDetail/?1081-Future-Cat-GT-Ferrari-brown.html Anyone know of any other brown leather driving shoes in the style of those OMPs? I like the mid-tops and sharp style, just not the price tag. Chuck Taylors make great cheap driving shoes, but I can't stand them otherwise. Alternatively, what do you drive in? -Trev Edited May 25, 2013 by Trevor_280ZX

Mikelly
I have Alpinestar black sued leather driving shoes. I only use them at the track. Pilote makes a decent driving shoe that isn't an arm and a leg. Mike
duragg
I tend to need a wide shoe. Anybody else with a big contact patch find one brand more comfortable than the other?
Trevor_280ZX
I ended up with these bad boys: http://images.rakuten.com/PI/0/1000/247615308.jpg They stopped making them, so I got a leftover pair for $20. They even have the names of famous race tracks pressed in the bottom hahaha. Comfy though.
Trevor_280ZX
I tend to need a wide shoe. Anybody else with a big contact patch find one brand more comfortable than the other? I don't have extremely wide feet but unless you have high arches like I do, I'd check out the chucks. Asics are nice but the soles seem to be offset from the rest of the shoe, weirdly. It's a shame because they're damned comfy.
RebekahsZ
Old penny loafers-great for heel-toe! Plus you look cool when you roll up your jeans and put a cigarette behind your ear.
socorob
I had a pair of brown leather piloti's and the medium width seem to be more like a narrow. I guess they run a little narrow?
Tony D
I'm with Darrell, I used my old Asics Tigers for years. Onitzuka (?) makes street shoes that look very similar to those old Asics Tigers. Back then, they were like $20.
Phantom
I use Piloti's. Have black pair, a brown pair, and a blue pair. Only thing I have that keeps me from working the throttle and the brake at the same time with my size 12's.
Leon
Slip-on style cloth shoes work well for me. The soles are usually thin, giving you good pedal feel. Last few pairs I've gotten were $10 a piece. I've never had issues and I'm a size 13...

310z
I will have to chime in on the shoe topic as my wife thinks I am a driving shoe geek and she is looking over my shoulder as I read this. Back in the 80s I wore Speery Top Siders. As I was thinking about rebuilding my Z I found a discontinued pair of Polo driving shoes at Sierra Trading Post. Ten years later they are my favorite but they are worn-out. So I have looked for a replacement. I purchased two pairs of Politi's, the 32 and Sebring. The 32 are non binding soft, you can walk around a bit in them but lack the feel for the petals. The Sebring's have a nostalgic low top look but are quite binding and have the same lack of feel. Which brings me to my latest purchase. A pair of Peter Miller Driving shoes that are much like my Polo's. I again found them at Sierra Trading post on line http://www.sierratradingpost.com/peter-millar-napoli-driving-moccasins-for-men~p~6047f/?filterString=mens-shoes~d~146%2FPeter-Millar~b~1691%2F&colorFamily=01 I received a deal and paid $89.00 They will take a little breaking in but they are going to work. Comfort is a main concern with driving shoes for me. I like the look of the high top shoe but I would be afraid of binding and ware about the ankle area in a high top.
